I love this shower door. It’s everything i expected and more. It’s high quality made of thick glass. It looks spectacular in a remodel bathroom. I had it installed for a month. For some reason my first order didn’t get delivered. But the second order came ontime.
Perfect!
First class product and delivery was sooner than originally noted. I installed by myself with no help, which was a challenge but the most difficult part was drilling holes in the tile. I modified the installation slightly so that I could do this by myself by carefully measuring then installing the bottom brackets. There's some great videos out there too that will help with suggestions and tips. You will not be disappointed in this product.
Unit glass is heavy, use suction cups to handle. Height for bar is only a guideline. They want you to assemble stationary glass and bar for final height then take apart to mount bar all while being plumb.
I love this door! We remodeled our bathroom and had a tile shower built that is not a standard size. We needed a 46 inch wide door and I wanted this style. The fact that this door can be adjusted in width was a huge factor when selecting a door. The door is high quality too. The installer was surprised when I said we’d gotten the door from Home Depot. He said his company would charge double of what we paid for a similar door.
Overall it's a great shower door, sturdy, not cheap made and beautiful design. My only issue is that even with the little threshold bar on the sliding door side, it still gets some water through during shower, the shower door gap between door and floor is a little high and the threshold is little short. As a lot of people said, it takes two people to install, our contractor spent the afternooon installing and he didn't complain about being difficult or bad instructions.
Outstanding Shower Doors- Highly recommend!
These shower doors are beautiful and are a statement piece in our bathroom. The product arrived very quickly. It was so well packaged that even the few "dents/rips" in the outer box had no impact on the glass doors inside. They are very heavy so we had two contractors do the install. We love the way they look and how smoothly they open.
Beautiful door but developed problems over time.
I got this door in August and got it installed through HD. Didn’t have any issues right away except the plastic liner was scraping the bottom since they left it a bit too long so the door was getting stuck. I hed to cut some of the lengh and now it is ok. Just todey a metal piece that attaches door to the bar camo off completely. The screw inside was completely loose. I don’t know if this is a mistake done by installer but I have no way of putting it back because the screw is not aligned with the hole on the door! I am really upset!
Terrible Customer Support
A pro installed this as part of bathroom reno. 2 wheels couldn't be tightened. Reached out to Vigo, but was sent video instructions on how to fasten wheel (instead of addressing the fact that 2 of them couldn't be tightened). Tried to reach out, but they opened new ticket. Then old ticket was closed since they "didn't hear back from me". So stuck in that loop. Contractor figured out that we could buy rubber rings to tighten them. Still no help from Vigo.
Quality made
During a first floor bathroom remodeling project, I decided to elimate my bathtub and install a walk-in shower. With that said, I opted for the Vigo Elan 60" Frameless doors because they have the ability to make adjustments if your walls are not perfectly plumb. All of the components are rock solid and built with longevity in mind. The instructions recommend that the homeowner hires a professional contractor to install the doors but if you're mechanincally inclined and have a friend with some muscle, then you should be good-to-go to install it yourself. The rollers are designed so that you can make minor adjustments to your door should your walls become misaligned over time. Just one note to anyone attempting to install the shower doors themself, make sure you place the door itself in your shower area first per the instructions. I learned the hard way.
Looks great but door shattered 9 months post installation
This shower panel & door was exactly the look I wanted in my modern bathroom and the installer said it was pretty straightforward to install; however, after 9 months post-installation the door ended up shattering into pieces and my friend (who was using the shower at the time) had to go to urgent care to have some of the small glass pieces removed from her feet.
Good door
This door weighs 250 lbs. all the parts are solid chrome metal. Getting the bar perfectly level is fairly simple. The instructions look like they were written for a door several models earlier but it’s easy enough to figure it out. They definitely need updating, preferably by someone whose first language is English. The threshold piece is a rectangular piece of chrome. I expected it to be a channel but whatever. Overall I feel like I have the best available door on the market. Even though it is a bit overpriced.
Good Product
Good product. Is as advertised. Well written instruction set (compared to others). Contacted manufacturer with questions prior to purchase. Very short hold and was able to talk to a knowledgeable product specialist. All questions answered.
Glass door exploded into million pieces
This is a huge safety hazard. I had professionals come over to install the door. As soon as they hung the door, it exploded into a million pieces. I had put the glass doors inside at the room temperature 2 days before the installation after reading other reviews to make sure the sudden temperature change wouldn't cause it to explode. But it's not a temperature change issue, it's a product quality issue that needs to be fixed. Now my bathroom renovation project is delayed because of this. And when I asked Lowes for a refund, they first wanted me to take all this mess to the store to get a refund, but after I refused they are now arranging for a pickup. What do you need to pick this up for? Just refund me my money so that I can buy another product. What a mess!

The doors itself are sturdy and beautiful. Installation on the other hand is...challenging. First, the doors are over 100lbs each, you’ll need help beyond just getting them into your bathroom. Second, the instructions aren’t 100% accurate, you need to have prior experience with installation of some sorts. Third- a trouble shooting section would be helpful, we had an issue that the top bar was 100% level but the door wouldn’t stay closed, so we had to adjust the bar so it was at a slight angle. Would have been an issue if we would have had to drill another hole. At the end of the day we saved money on not hiring the installation out to a contractor, but I’d honestly recommend to anyone not a contractor, to hire a team that can do it easily and has done it before. It took us 7 hours, and my helper was used to construction projects around the house. Great when done though!
Nice looking doors but...
I had these doors installed last year. They look great. Quality of materials is fine. HOWEVER: the sliding panel is about 1/4 inch lower than the fixed panel. It was suggested to me that I simple adjust the ellipticals to raise the sliding panel. This would be fine except there is what I consider to be an engineering/design flaw: the center divider guide at the bottom does not extend high enough. Were I to make the height of the doors even the sliding panel would simply flop out of the guide. The bottom of the panel would be higher than the channel it would normally slide in. When I pointed this out to Vigo I was met with utter silence. You can see the height difference and could pass it off as a perspective illusion, but I've measured it with a level, so I know it's there. Maybe it's a minor issue, but beware...

Installation were pretty poor. I read them before bed, I read them before install the next morning, I read them out loud with the wife listening. All I can say is just poor. The bottom rail tor connection point where the two glass doors meet, has a built in tunnel where water can freely pass through. Overall quality of hardware and glass door, are good and I have no complaints. With an OVE shower door, there seal is so good on the sliding glass door that no dam is required like it is with this VIGO. The only reason we ordered this door is that it fit my non-standard dimension. The OVE has a solid bracket at the bottom and no water can pass.
i would change the install instructions
I really love the door. Hardware looks great. Rolls very smoothly. The install as per the instructions definately takes 2 people and 3 is even better. You have to attach the fixed panel to the structural rail and while you are holding the (heavy) glass vertical on the curb, you have to make sure the panel is plumb, the top rail is horizontal, and marks have to be made around the mounting brackets. One person takes a breath and the panel/top rail moves. This is what i did: I established the centerline of the curb. I then measured 70 7/16” inch (measurement provided by the manufacturer) up from the curb using a level making a plumb line. (Do it from the high side. One side may be slightly higher, mine wasnt. You need at least 70 7/16” to the curb on both sides). I then installed the structural rail perfectly level, then the fixed panel with the guides, then the rolling panel. I actually did it that way with one person. Two would be easier. I also used silicone to anchor the door guides down. I didnt want to put a hole for water to leak into the curb. I also have not installed the threshold yet. My wife likes the look without it. I put a 1/4 bubble slope into the shower for water to drain. I havent used it yet you so I may have to put that in later if water gets on the floor. I’ll follow up with that later. This thing rolls effortlessly so make sure the top rail in level. I spent extra time with that. It is adjustable as well.
Nice quality hardware, a few suggestions
This is the second Vigo shower system glass I've installed. I am always pleased with quality of the hardware. It looks great. I do have 3 suggestions to improve the product.
Would recommend to anyone (read my review)
Please read if your considering this door! You’ll definitely need 2 people to install this. Took my brother and I about 3 hours. We had to cut the bar 4-5 time but that was us strictly being cautious. The installation was pretty straight forward. You’ll be very happy with this unit. Throughout the process I triple checked my walls were as square as possible and you need to make sure you have studs behind the tile. This shower door has some good weight to it (as to be expected). There are adjustments for out of plumb walls. The rollers are super smooth and doesn't take much effort at all to slide the door. My walls are 58 3/4” and as you can see I opted not to install the threshold because my curb is sloped towards the shower. If it became an issue I could always install it. I highly recommend this unit. I’m not one to go online and rate products, I do more along the lines of reading reviews. You can be sure this is a fantastic shower door. I posted a picture of it installed.
[Rewarded Review] Massive door, well built and worth every penny
File this under: You get what you pay for. You can find cheaper doors but look at those reviews and you'll see problems with leaky seals, etc. Also I tried other doors in the stores and all their mechanisms felt cheap by comparison.
