It failed within a couple of days. The temperature control will not change and consequently we are stuck at 74 degrees. I've been busy, but plan on returning it after making contact with Home Depot.

excellent thermostat and it can be back lit

I reviewed this thermostat a couple of years ago and gave it an excellent rating. At the time I didn't think the display could be backlit as advertised, and was a little disappointed. I just consulted with an a.c. tech about something else, and he showed me how to turn on the back light to this thermostat. Maybe I didn't see it in the original instructions, or maybe it wasn't in there. And after having read the more recent reviews here, I realize others have come to the same conclusion and thought there was no backlit display. Here is how to turn it on:

I replaced an old manual thermostat with this, because it's the same one that I have upstairs. I got this one certified refurbished. It works absolutely great. Except when I press the buttons the screen doesn't glow. Other than the back light not turning on, for a refurbished item it works great.
