Slim and Lovely

A very slim and modern approach to separately managing shower volume and temperature. Other systems are bulky (Delta TempAssure, for example) although more traditional in design.

Grohe is a really nice quality smart control. The single valve controller allows you to separately control the water temperature and flow rate. It’s great that you can set the temperature knob how you like it and turn the water on off using a button.

Beautiful brushed nickel matches my other brushed nickel fixtures. Not yellow or brassy! This is a extremely well made professional grade thermostatic mixing valve. You get the valve body and the brushed nickel trim. Don't forget you need to order the Grohe "Smartbox" separately - the description gives the part number. You also can order service shut offs separately and install them into the valve body - I suggest you do, as that lets you (or the next owner, or a plumber) turn off the water supply right at the valve to work on it if needed. Way easier than shutting water off to the whole house or searching for a buried shut-off valve.

So it's time to remodel that old shower. Now is the time to switch over to the newest tech in water delivery systems. This advanced mixing system gives a whole new world of control over your shower/bath experience. Set your water temperature and pressure, lock it in and from that point forward a single push of the center button delivers that exact setting every time. Install gains some difficulty only due to the unfamiliar way it is constructed. Recommended for those with some plumbing experience otherwise contact Home Depot for installation support.

I purchased the GROHE Grohtherm Smart Control Single Function Round Thermostatic Trim with Control Module in Brushed Nickel and it arrived quickly and was undamaged. This is NOT for a remodel, this is for either new construction or a complete gut job. Unless you already have the (REQUIRED) Groh valve controller in your wall, this is not an easy job and you will likely need to completely rip your shower apart. From the pictures online it wasn't obvious how massive the valve controller part is that inserts in the wall. See pictures to truly understand the size of this thing. Unless you have access to the interior wall of your shower, you aren't getting this thing into your wall without tearing your shower apart.

If you like to be in control of everything then this is the Shower Thermostat for you. you can set the water volume, temperature and spray patterns with this faucet. I am not that good with plumbing so I had a friend do the the install. according to him it wasn't to difficutl to do. (I will take his word on that) The overall look is very modern. Just have to read the insturctions to program it.

We love this shower control unit. It looks feels and performs like a really high-end unit. Keep in mind this the unit does not come with all the items needed for installation. You have to separately purchase a Grohe Rapido SmartBox (part number 35601000). The on-off water control is through the push button, the volume through the small knob and the temperature through the main center knob. The unit comes with several different label tabs that will help identifying the kind of shower head on your bathroom. Installation is straight forward if you know what you are doing. Otherwise leave it to a professional plumber. That being said, Grohe has a very detailed instructional video on how to perform its installation. I would highly recommend this control valve to anyone looking for a high quality product. It is not the cheapest one, but I believe it is worth its price.
