Easy to install and easy to program. Installed just two weeks and it is giving me erroneous messages-- eg; 10 beeps-low battery and 3 beeps- code not programed. Battery tests strong and code works! Did a factory reset twice and switched out the battery. Problem persists. Kwikset is sending a replacement.

This was fairly easy to install and program. It seems to be working well. I would love to install this on another door with window in it, but it looks like it is just slightly too large to accommodate having an sealed mini blind installed on the inside the door.

Set screw Advice

So I thought the set screw for the handle was missing, but after further reading of the directions, I found you have turn the key to reach the set screw on the number pad part of the lock. This unlike the non electrical locks where the set screw is already available without turning the key. I actually took a lock back before discovering my own stupid mistake of not fully reading the directions. Besides my own stupidity the lock works great.

Super easy replacement for existing Kwikset door knob. Super easy to rekey same as rest of house. Simple electronic lock, no power consuming internet connecting hocus pocus. Bought 2 of these locks, love em!

Lock stopped working in cold weather

We purchased this lock about a year ago. It worked great for 3-4 months and then once it got cold, it seized up and stopped working. I got locked out of my house in single digit degree weather. Once I finally got back in, I took all the recommended steps to reset the lock, try a new battery, and completely reinstall the lock - nothing worked. Worse yet, I have taken this back to Lowe's multiple times, and they do not even sell it in the store (except when I purchased it). They claim someone probably bought it online, returned it in store, and we bought it on clearance in the store since it is not an item they usually stock. Bottom line is I am now stuck with a dead lock/door handle because the latch currently doesn't operate with how the product/lock is designed. I have been to my local Lowe's 3 times over this issue and contacted Lowe's Credit Services since I purchased this with my Lowe's credit card and no one is able to help. I have no proof of purchase, since I thought after months of great use, I could throw away the box, receipt, etc. Lowe's Credit Services has not been able to help this either. I am really disappointed since we really liked the lock when it was working. I would buy this lock again if I were able to somehow be compensated for the old one (hence the 2 stars instead of 1).

this was super easy to install. I did it alone and took about 20 minutes. Most difficult part was using the tiny Allen wrench to lock the handle into place. Programming it was simple, have multiple codes set up for each family member.

Easy to install, easy to program and easy to reset the keys. I did 2 keypad locks and 2 plain lock sets. Programming can be simple or as complex as you need. Many different options.

Poor handle attachment

Good lock, but the outside handle on the keypad side keeps falling off.

Stopped working after a couple days

Nice looking product. However, an internal mechanism stopped to lock (remained opened) regardless position and/or number code, just a few days after the installation. Electronics seemed to function correctly, but the actuator stopped pushing a lock....

Very easy to install and program. The lighted buttons are great for entry at night. Well-designed and feels solid. The re-keyable feature allows you to easily re-key to the same key as other Kwikset SmartKey locks so you can use the same key for multiple doors.

Easy installation on existing interior door, only slight difficulty was understanding on how to secure the door levers. Only suggestion on operation of unit itself would be to have to buttons light up when any button is pushed rather than have to push the Kwikset button to do so. But not a big deal, only a suggestion on my part.

Received item, immediately proceeded to replace a similar lock which had gone bad an inoperable.

Easy to install and works well. The smart key feature is a big plus, allowing the user to re key lock to match other Kwikset locks on our property. Have had this several weeks along with others for several months. Zero issues.

I would rate as five stars if it was available in polished brass...like the older ones. This realy is a downer that these are no longer provided in "polished brass" finish. Now in oreder to have the whole house door knobs match, you have to purchase all new. Next time I'll choose another brand.

Installed this with my 10 year old son. And rekeyed it to match my deadbolt. It was a straight-forward installation process. The handle works well and looks good. Glad I made the purchase.

The handles cannot be screwed on securely

the knobs to turn the lock either were missing a screw or the pre-installed screw doesn't tighten the knob handle. So the handle keeps falling off. Returned product to my local home depot store. Do not recommend.

Missing pieces - set screw for handle and was unable to program. Product defective and I will be returning today. I have bought this same unit in the past and it was fine, this one is defective

This is a great set up . Easy to install and program. Looks great . No more fumbling for keys . Jey pad lights up which is great when the front lights not in . Feel safe that the door is always locked .

No set screw to secure door handle

I am not sure what has been going on these past few years, but it seems half the things I order these days have something missing that prevents you from finishing putting together things. This time the set screw for the door handle is missing preventing me from securing the door handle on. Now I have to see if I can find one for this lock set. As for the function of the door lock set, I do not know. I might just have to try and get it all back in the box it came with and send it back for a replacement. Starting to get real aggravating buying online.

The 955 smart code was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to install and program. The only problem was the screw on the inside part of unit to hold the handle on , it should have said in the instructions that it is a left handed screw.
