best home door locks and knobs!

These are excellent door knobs. Our builder installed Kwikset knobs throughout our home on interior doors and on the exterior doors with Smartkey. When one exterior entry knob failed after a couple of years, Kwikset immediately sent out a replacement. I followed the enclosed instructions and the knob functions perfectly. With the Smartkey function I was able to easily rekey the knob to match my old key. No need to call a locksmith. Didn't even have to bother my husband to replace it! Love these things! Thanks Kwikset!!

Bad quality bolts

One of the hardest for no reason door knobs I have ever attempted to put on. The threads on the screw broke and of course damaged the threads on the female end. Don't know how that was suppose to keep my place safe when it couldn't even stay together during installation. Do not recommend this product.

Had purchased other similar Kwiksets before and always liked how easy they were to install. Handles can be a little tricky at times but once you get them lined up properly they are a breeze.

Easy to install. Was able to rotate the inner cylinder (to make key attitude the same for all lock sets installed). Nicely designed inner bezel (no need to completely remove inside screws to install lock set unit, just rotate bezel until screws click into place, then tighten down). Was able to install 3 units, & 're-keyed' all 3 to one key with their 'SmartKey' feature. Love the Tylo knob. It's nicely shaped, easy to grasp and small enough that it won't pinch my knuckles between it and door frame for those doors with the narrower backset (2-3/8" vs 2-3/4"). Thank you Kwikset for these nice lock sets. Thank you HomeDepot for carrying these on your online store (picked the gold finish, that's not as popular as current 'nickel' finish, thus ordered online from HomeDepot). Thank you much.

Easy to install, great Kwikset (US based) phone assistance if any questions (& online install instructions if needed). Excellent for matching keys on multiple doors. Also, easy to grasp (not too large diameter) that won't pinch fingers between knob and door frame when used with narrow backsets [hole to jamb distances] (2_3/8" [minimum]). Ship to store or home. Replaced a 20+ year old Kwikset keyed exterior entry doorknob. The new unit was a perfect fit replacement. The strike plate, door latch assembly and knob set all fit exactly down to the location of the screws. The latch mechanism and strike plate actually provide a better seal against the weather stripping than the previous unit. The microban finish is extremely smooth and appears very durable. I look forward to many years of reliable service from this product.

Tumbler Upside Down!

Buyer beware that Kwikset/HD gives you no options for how the tumbler will come configured i.e., a left hand open vs. a right hand open door. What this means is you have a 50/50 chance of getting a lock that’s upside down meaning the jagged part of the key will be facing downward when you insert it. This is a problem for many reasons. To flip the tumbler right side up for your door you’ll be knee deep in YouTube videos and frustration. Kwikset should be giving the customer a choice of tumbler config and/or providing the special tool to flip it.

Lock had to be installed upside down as my lock is to right. Thought i was going to need to return as knob was sticking but turning knob screw ever so slightly made all the difference. Not so sure how long this knob will last as previous Kwikset similar/same style that only lasted a little over 5 years mechanism started grinding and very close being locked out. I had to jiggle handle for about 10 minutes.

I'm 100% pleased with this product. However, I am enormously unhappy that the instructions were in such tiny print (and on a gray shaded background) that I could barely read them. I installed the lock by myself but it was difficult to do so alone. I believe the installation would best be done with two people: with one person to read the instructions to the one doing the installation.

Great replacement doorknob. Be sure to get a helper when you install it.

Bought this to replace a knob that literally fell apart from old age last week. I selected it over other brands because the packaging was clearly marked that the knob could be adjusted for either 2-3/8 or 2-3/4" backsets. It fit the door opening with zero adjustment required.

Easy rekeying! (If you can find directions online)

The doorknob itself is beautiful, however there were absolutely NO directions on how to install it. Luckily I had purchased another doorknob of the same brand a year ago and I still had the directions that came with that one, so I just had to hope they were the same. I love that you can rekey this doorknob’s lock super easily and quickly (but again, there were absolutely NO directions on how to do this included, so I was able to find the directions that came with the other doorknob I had purchased and also was able to watch an online video from the manufacturer’s website). Definitely would recommend this doorknob but good luck with installation if you haven’t done it before…because it’s not super obvious: you DO NOT take the screws out that are holding the knobs together like most doorknob installation…you twist off the front plate leaving the screws intact.

Ordered 2, 1 was was assembled wrong

Like the kwikset smartkey because they can be rekeyed to match what I already have. Ordered 2 because of the low price and free delivery. Only needed 1. 1 was was assembled wrong and not usable. There is a brass assembly inside the brushed nickel handle base. It was misaligned and I could not get the screws in to attach the 2 handles to the door. Photo of good and bad one attached. Was able to fix it with Channelock pliers, and a punch to lever the screw holes into alignment

I have installed, 20+ new entry door knobs, have to say this Kwikset Tylo Antique Brass Exterior Entry Door Knob Featuring Microban Antimicrobial Technology was the worst. Frustrating to install, as you align the outside knob with the inside and insert the screws, this is where the problem starts. The inside knob will not turn, you have to "jiggle" the knob a bit to open the door. I finally took out the entire set, sent it to the trash and replaced it with another knob set costing a little more, you get what you pay. I would have returned it, however I had misplaced the receipt.

I recently bought my first home and it is a bit of a fixer upper, everything needed upgraded to this century including new doors and locks. We needed a new door going from the basement into the garage which meant we also needed a new lock. This Kwikset Arroyo knob was really easy to install on our new door, even for someone that had never installed a door knob. We had it done in about 20 minutes from start to finish.I love how the knob is square its very modern looking and is easier to grip in your hand. I have smaller hands and I find the square knob is much easier to grip and turn for me. The lock works great with the 2 keys provided it locks and unlocks with just a turn of the wrist, no jiggling the key around like with our old lock. I couldn't be happier with how this DIY project turned out. We have a few more doors and door knobs to replace and will be picking up a few more of these to complete our upgrade in our home.

I've used Kwikset for many years. I've found the brand to be a high quality and durable set of products. The new Kwikset - Arroyo Knob (Midtown) - Keyed - featuring SmartKey is a great addition to my growing collection. The squared design gives it a contemporary feel, and the matte black finish provides a great accent to our home decor. I love that it features the smartkey option as well. Installation is not difficult and the instructions, provided in the box, are easy to understand. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this great product.

I use this on our garage door and it works perfectly. I love the modern look that this knob has. Besides the design, the best feature is that this lock can be rekeyed. I love that I can change this lock so that it uses the same key as my front door and I don't need separate keys. It is super easy to follow the instructions to rekey the lock and only takes seconds to do so. It was easy to install this knob and all the pieces worked perfectly in installation. My garage door is left looking stylish with a really durable lock that makes me feel safe and secure.

This is by far the highest quality door knob we have ever used on our home. I feel safe, secure, and it looks very high end. It was easy to install, and the instructions were very clear. The color and finish are gorgeous. I love the SmartKey Security, which allows you to rekey your lock in seconds if needed. I also love that it is a Microban Antimicrobial product. I highly recommend this knob.

Rough key insertion- easy to assemble, nice finish

Not the best lock I’ve ever had. It rattles internally when the deadbolt is turned and inserting and extracting the key takes a lot of jiggling and positioning. It was easy to install. The finish and hardware are nice, I got the antique brass. So for the cost I’d say it’s as expected? I don’t really think there’s a good excuse for difficulty sliding the key in and out though. I recently put a lock of a different brand and similar price on another door and it functions much better than this one.

Knob quality is sketchy, don’t buy

The quality of the knobs and locks on the knobs is horrible. Had significant difficulty rekeying 2 out of 3. When locking/unlocking the lock mechanism is very hard to turn, grinds. No issue with the deadbolts. All 3 I installed without difficulty and operate smoothly. These were $20 less per set that the similar set available in store, imagine the $20 goes into the quality of the knobs. Not that it matters but came jammed in the smallest cardboard box. I don’t suspect they will last long on my rental property which is why I bought them; to re key between tenants rather than continuing to swapping out new hardware. Don’t by these. Try something else.
