Love this door, but it is slightly green

My contractor installed this tub/shower door with no problems. It is lovely. It adds an elegance to the bathroom. Slides easily and quietly, with no problems. The only cautionary note, and the reason I clicked only 4 stars, is that the frosted glass in my door is slightly green, due to iron in the glass. Fortunately it looks good in the bathroom. But this could have easily been a problem with a different color scheme. I see no where on the website warning of this color.

I really like the product. It’s a beautiful looking door, My only complaints are the way the handle stick to the door. I think that could’ve been more integrated maybe a little bit of a groove where they place exactly at the door so they sink in a little bit just a millimeter or something.

Shipping Disaster

This rating is for the package and shipping only. Unfortunately the Kohler sliding tub doors where inadequately packaged in a cardboard container and banded to a undersized wooden pallet that was about 10 inches shorter than the tub doors and layed flat during shipping. As a result, the glass doors were shattered. When the SST truck arrived for delivery the driver already knew the tempered glass doors were shattered as the glass was on the bed of the truck. I signed for and refused delivery. Called Home Depot and submitted a claim. Tub doors were reordered. All is well at this time. Now waiting on the replacement order.

Did NOT meet my expectations. Do not buy. Poor design. Watched a Kohler video prior to purchase which indicated easy cleaning. Not true. Bottom track has so many grooves it is not an easy clean. Rubber piece is inserted in bottom track to keep water from leaking out - it’s awful, will not stay clean, and will need to be replaced frequently. Need to be very careful opening and closing the doors they do not seem sturdy. Purchased Kohler doors because I bought a Kohler tub and thought the fit would be better than a generic door, but I was wrong. Instructions said you need 3 inches on the tub edge to install door properly - my Kohler tub edge is almost 4 inches and the door barely fits on the tub edge. Disappointed since my last set of Kohler doors lasted 20 years - they were not easy to clean but they were sturdy.

Quality option for left shower

Best option we found for install shower on left. Be sure you stay of top of your installer since the glass is only treated on one side and the glass can be installed backwards (it is symmetrical). Quality, slides easy, the stick on handles are a nice option and allow the most door movement. Order direct from Kohler and do yourself a favor since they are fast and use great shipper.

The inside glass panel was made for a towel bar. The model we ordered did not have a towel bar. We are now waiting three weeks to get a replacement panel. This has been a total waste and surprised this brand would be so poorly manufactured. What happened to quality control before it leaves the manufacturing facility?? Very disappointing.

The picture for this shower door is extremely misleading and doesn’t show the extra glass above the top bar. Additionally, the gap between the two doors is quite wide. Overall, not an attractive style. I returned mine and ended up paying for 2 installations. Home Depot was very helpful in in honoring customer satisfaction and processing the return.

Kohler Levity semi frameless tub door

After following instructions to the letter, which I highly recommend, my son in law and I completed this installation in about 6 hrs. Anyone who says they did it in 2 is full of it. With a little difficulty {drilling holes in tile is hardest part} we installed this product to near perfection. After showering the next few days not 1 drop of water leaked on the floor. Both of us are fairly handy but the bottom line is it has to be done correctly. Looks just like the one in the picture.

Nice doors for the price. Reasonably smooth rollers, but definitely not of the higher-end quality. I find the space between the doors is a bit wider than needed, which really cut things close installing these on my Kohler Villager cast iron tub. Suggest if you are installing on a Villager, cheat the bottom track as far to the outside of the tub as you can before the flat top of the tub-wall surface starts curving down towards the floor.

A great bathroom upgrade

This was just what I've been looking for. Contemporary design with clean lines that don't obstruct the view of the shower walls. The minimal use of metal parts gave the bathroom a very clean look. What was even better, I was able to install it on my cast iron tub with no problem as no drilling into the tub was required. I will say, however, that this was my 2nd shower system since the first had damage to the top rail so i returned it. The replacement also had problems in that one of the side rail covers was made incorrectly and needed to be replaced. I contacted Kohler and though they sent the replacement in short order, it was the wrong part. I'll be calling them back to remedy this situation. Then there's the water spots in the glass doors. They were supposed to have a special coating that i thought eliminated water spots but I'll need to reread that because there's definitely water spots on the glass and I'm almost certain hubby installed them on the correct side

Great product but not tall enough

I recently renovated my newly purchased condo and replaced all the plumbing fixtures with Kohler products. I am overall very happy with the Kohler products excluding this shower enclosure. I had the company who provided and installed high end shower enclosure in my master bathroom to install this one in my guest bathroom. Even though, their expertise was shower doors, they struggled to install it due to lack of details in the installation instructions. They advised me that the shower door is not tall enough and they said I would be better off to install a taller shower door. I trusted Kohler over them thinking that Kohler being such a reputable company would have figured that out and would not sell such a product with that sort of problem. Now that the shower has been used many times, my installer was absolutely right and I wish I had done what they suggested. Every time after using the shower, we have to dry off the bathroom floor due to the water spill over the shower door.. I really like the product but I wish it was 10"-14" taller. If you are 2 to 3 feet tall, I recommend this product, otherwise, don't waste your money.

Do not pair this with a Kohler Elmbrook unless the tub is for a kid or you're a little person. This item has a low crossbar that will require you to duck when entering the shower. Luckily this is for my kids. I'm 6'4" and felt like I was entering a boxing ring when getting in. Also, for nearly $600, you'd think they would have used more quality parts. The handles are attached by double sided tape. Couldn't drill a couple of holes and given actual handles? The instructions were garbage. I think they changed the design recently and were caught in between and repurchased the old instructions. Finally, make sure you install the lower track as close to the edge as possible. The design is fairly wide and you will lose horizontal space. Found myself banging my arms when testing it out.

Quality to price ratio is high on this one. Kohler support was very good. I installed it myself over a short Kohler tub that is smaller than the recommended minimum width with no problem. Quality of materials is very high for a door at this price. Installation instructions were very good as well.

Beware of template provided for handle install.

I found no issues with this product, with the exception of the template and instructions for attaching the handles to the glass doors. The template does not provide the accuracy needed to guarantee vertical installation of the handles, and once they are attached there is no repositioning them. First, the template only covers half the height of the handle. If it was full height the possible error would be cut in half. Second, the wrap-around style of the template and attaching it with tape means that it is difficult to keep the template in place while attaching the handles. Kohler would do much better to mark the proper location of the handles on the door at the factory, or at least provide a better template. When using the template provided make very certain that the slot in the template for the handle is vertical before you attach the handles. Check it with a level or check the top and bottom distances from the template to the edge of the door.

Beautiful door but small opening

The door is aesthetically beautiful. I did the brushed bronze because it was the closest match to my gold plumbing fixtures. However, read the dimensions. After installation, the glass door opening from tub to top rail is 58". A tall person would have to duck under the top rail to get into the shower each time. I'm 5' 4" so it's ok for myself. I feel like I just make it. It's a little disappointing that it's not made higher. Seems like a huge oversight for Kohler. However, the quality of the product is nice. It's been installed so I'll have to make the best of it. You can see in my picture where the bar is in relation to the shower head. The images Kohler shows has the shower head well below the bar height. Giving the illusion that the shower door has more height to it. Here, you can see it's clearly above. And my plumbing fixtures are all standard measurements for a 9 foot ceiling.

Nice door with some danger thrown in

I bought this door as I was restricted to 74 inches in height. Instructions were for a bathtub door. This only mattered with the placement of the threshold. The real danger is that the threshold is free-floating. Using caulk to adhere the threshold to the base is amateurish. The small pieces in the vacuum pack have to have all the plastic picked off them and the 2 small caps will be damaged when removing the plastic. The screws to hold the headers in place are not self-drilling, the holes are to close to the wall so you can not get a cordless drill at 90 degrees and the screws should be flat head and countersunk. The caps for the rollers do not just snap-in, the slots inside have to be aligned which the instructions do not mention. If you can attach the threshold to the base this is a very nice door for the price. I had no issues with the rest of the installation and the finished look is quite nice.

First let me say we LOVE this door. For my particular situation the door proved difficult to install. This is because one of the side rails needed to mount over an inside shower porcelain towel holder/bar. So, I needed to first remove the towel holder by breaking it out of the tiles. Then I had to replace the affected tiles which is always challenging to do without damaging adjacent tiles. In the end I had to replace 10 tiles (about 5 on each side of the side wall where the porcelain holders previously existed). Of course, I didn't have any leftover blue tiles (the tub/shower wall is a checkerboard pattern) so I had to special order them from the manufacturer. After applying the red guard, replacing the tiles, applying the grout, and sealing the grout, I was finally ready to install the actual shower door. This turned out to be the easy part of the whole project. I highly recommend a quality carbide drill bit set if you are installing this door into ceramic tiles. I used this one and it performed perfectly: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-Carbide-Tipped-Drill-Bit-Set-for-Drilling-Natural-Stone-Granite-Slate-Ceramic-and-Glass-Tiles-NS2000/301427910

A good looking pain in the ...

I consider myself fairly tool smart and have installed windows for a living in the past, it didn't seem like too much of a stretch to install these shower doors...a day and a half later I really wished I'd jobbed this one out. First there is drilling eight (8) holes in ceramic tile, that only took me 4 hours, two trips to Home Depot and 4 drill bits and no, these were not cheapies from Harbor Freight, I was buying Bosch bits at Home Depot for $9 a pop. I've drilled glass and tile before with diamond bits and never had a problem but carbide bits and decent quality ceramic tile gave me a fit. Bite the bullet and buy diamond bits for $20 and save hours. (Be sure and keep the bits cooled with water to avoid overheating and burning the diamonds off.)
