Returning after 1 week

Bought it b/c it was a good price point, met our needs , matched our door handle which weve always bought kwickset, and this way if the internet was down while our house was under construction I didnt have to worry. Welllllll...I shouldve listened to our airbnb host who said buy a different brand... I run into our house for a quick second and the code I use since I was a kid & on this keypad reset the entire system. I didnt have time nor did I have the patients to set again. Lucky I had a spare key with me otherwise id have been in trouble. This is going back! If pressing the wrong button or in the wrong order resets its then I cant keep it and risk that my kid & his friends be locked out. of the house after school.

Glad I Purchased for Peace of Mind and Convenience

Purchased the digital lock so I could go walk without having to carry keys on me and although it was easy to install and there is a great listing for temporary and permanent codes, I only wish the instructions were just a tad clearer on rekeying. We live in a condo and I would really like one key for the door and deadbolt and our storage room. Instruction booklet says the following:

User Code

Only allows one user code to be programmed, but advertises can take up to 50.

Simple to use!

This is the easiest deadbolt lock to install for myself a senior Lady. It fits the 1 1/2 borehole of my door that so many others would not. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver. As for programing, that was a breeze too! First open the door and have the lock in lock position, hit the check mark ✅ put in code 4 numbers or more, and then check mark again ✅ you should get a green flashing light

Don't buy.

Doesn't work. The motor wants to spin in the opposite direction that the lock position is in.

Amazing lock system, kudos to Kwikset!

This lock is amazing, highly recommended! Reading the negative review from 'B' I can only suggest that he is either not a qualified installer or he represents another lock company. I say this BECAUSE the only way this lock will fail is IF THE DEADBLOT DOES NOT EASILY GLIDE INTO THE DEADBOLT RECEIVER. I know this from firsthand experience, as our new house's front door was sagging to the point that it caught the deadbolt striker plate at the bottom of it's opening. I'm a carpenter and a windows and door installer for over 15 years. The fix here was a quick inspection of the top hinge to see if the installer had used a sinker screw (a 2 1/2" #10 flat head screw) that secures the hinge not just to the door jamb, but is also long enough to go THROUGH the jamb and secure the hinge to the 2X6 or 2/4 door frame opening. Understand? It sounds like 'B' didn't take care of this very basic issue, I see it all the time. Just remember that the deadbolt itself must move freely through the striker plate as it locks the door. Trouble free here for 1 year, same batteries.

Installed one year ago. Still works perfectly. Use it several times a day.

Avoid!

Don’t buy, didn’t even last 6 months. Circuit that controls dead bolt failed.

Stay away

Just purchased and is extremely easy to install but interior locking mechanism is malfunctioning saying it’s jammed. We took lock completely apart multiple times and it clearly is not jammed. Waste of time and money

Great lock

Was not sure when I got this, but now wished I had got one a year ago. Easy to install ( program bottom inside by battery). This can auto lock ( about 4 or 5 options). We will see how long the battery last. I honestly can not say anything bad about it. Shop around on prices ( Amazon).

Horrible product

I have had this product for only two weeks and it has stopped working. The lock only let me program one code. This morning the lock would not open, I would enter the code and the lock would flash red. I am very disappointed with this product and would never recommend this product to anyone. I no longer trust this lock to keep my family safe

[Rewarded Review] Nice digital smart deadbolt

This is a nice feature filled digital deadbolt. Install is pretty straightforward with a simple screwdriver as long as you don't need to drill the hole for a deadbolt. Make sure you have 4 AA batteries when you are installing as they are not included. Programming codes is pretty straightforward and you can program more codes than you'll every need including 1 time use codes. Battery life is pretty decent as well depending on usage. Overall a solid product if you don't need or want smartphone access.

It was time to replace the deadbolt on the front door and decided to go with keypad to make entry possible without a key. Other locks on my house are Kwickset so I could still use the key by rekeying this deadbolt using the Smart Key. Install is very easy for an existing door. Simply screw it on. It takes 4 AA batteries so hopefully those last a long time. Programming codes is very easy and it can store up to 50! It's not a smart device so won't work with wifi or other platforms but my needs didn't require it so not an issue. Over the years I've been very happy with Kwickset and this new deadbolt is following suit as well.

I installed the Kwikset Smartcode 270 traditional deadbolt in Satin nickel a few weeks ago. The lock took me around 40 mins to install. There is an app (Bilt) to assist you with the install. The lock looks great and is so easy to use. You can set up multiple codes so that each person has there own code, but the best thing is that you can have code lengths anywhere from 4 to 8 numbers long ( if you are like me all of them are 8 digits). You can also set up to 10 one time codes for guests. The lock is able to be set to auto lock at different time lengths for piece of mind about locking up you home. The system also locks with a single button. In case you lose your key you can personally rekey your lock so no more need for a locksmith. I will be getting another one for the back door!

This automatic keycode lock was easy to install on my front door. Took me about 30 minutes total. Programming your personal code was very easy. The matching door handle is sold separately. So please make sure you purchase that along with the locking mechanism. I also have this same lock at our secondary home and the batteries last usually about 18 months.

This is not my first Kwikset smart lock. Kwikset really builds the best smart lock and for not an exorbitant amount. I like that the dead bolt is tapered so that when it locks it sucks the door tighter to the weather stripping. Programming and setup is very simple and the touchpad seems responsive. Rekeying is also super easy, but keep in mind that it will not work with all other lock cylinder types (so just do Kwikset all everywhere for easiest rekeying)
