We have been using this deadbolt for a month and appreciate using a custom code (up to 8 digits) - which is only required for entry. A simple lock button is available when exiting. Please be aware a deadbolt is more secure than a self-latching door handle, but can only be locked once the door is closed. If for some reason the mechanism or batteries fail, you can resort to using the key - but we used a simple feature to set every door to use the same key, which makes life easier. When loading or unloading a vehicle, the door does not have to be locked until you are done using it. You can also lock the door quickly once inside, using an interior latch.

Replaced existing (non-keyless) deadbolt lock so it was very easy to install. Easy to program, easy to operate and looks great. Happy with the finished product.

Purchased to install in existing doors, super easy, took about 15 mins. So far so good. Easy to use. Delivery was on time and undamaged.

The product looked very nice. Easy to install. I programmed the keypad without any problems. Unfortunately when I tried to rekey it using the smart key function it malfunctioned. Niether the key that came with it nor my key would work. I tried several times. I returned it to the store.

8 out of ten are failures. When I opened my business 14 yrs ago, I installed them in 11 doors. No problem at all. Last yr the first one failed. After that, I have had nothing but trouble with them. The tumblers catch and the battery operated motors are too weak to overcome the resistance. One of them had a connector end that was smashed. Customer service is a joke, all the rep could repeat (like a parrot) was push the reset button, push the reset button even though I told her i had pushed the reset button half a dozen times. I always check the connectors and tumblers before I leave the store, but there is a mechanism in the tumblers that fails as soon as the front and back plates are connected.

Reached out to quickset for troubleshooting steps waste of time 30 mins of try this try that ok now put new batteries ok now remove the entire lock - yeah if I am removing it, it is to return to Home Depot because your product sucks

Easy to install. Love that you can adjust the auto-lock feature. One touch lock from the outside is convenient. Great for my teens who tend to lose their keys! Directions are straightforward. Love it!!

Instructions for programming are poor. An internet search FAQ was more informative. This was my first Kwikset combo lock. It's also my last.

Missing Pieces

This was clearly a returned item, but not marked as such. It was missing screws and there were screwdriver marks on the items but, luckily, I had the necesawry hardware at home. Poor job by Home Depot on this one

Very easy to install. Took maybe 20 minutes. Switched to this model after using the wi-fi Kwikset lock, but that one would drain the batteries about every 3 weeks because the lock was constantly pinging the router.

Not a big fan. This thing is loud and resets alot. We threw away the box accidentally, otherwise we'd get rid of it and get something different. To constantly hear that noise and it errors out every time my kids open the door is really getting on my last nerve. Maybe we can turn the beeping off? Idk. I would not purchase this ever again.

I finally gave up trying to program this electronic lockset. It operated in a way that was opposite of normal. Talked with the factory rep, watched the online videos, no way I was installing it wrong. I’ve installed several electronic locks and hundreds of standard locks. I will not recommend this device

It's a nice-looking piece of hardware. Installation was straightforward. However, setting control and user codes based on the generic manual was time consuming, confusing and not straightforward. A U-Tube video was more helpful, as it was specific to the actual model # of the lock.

This unit replaced a Kwikset SmartCode 955 that was ruined by battery corrosion. So far this unit works as advertised. Replacing it with this unit was a breeze. It's nice to not have to carry a key with me when my wife and I go out. I would recommend.
