The lock has been excellent so far. I've had it installed for a few months now, and even with the cold temperatures here in Minnesota, the fingerprint reader has worked flawlessly. We've enrolled fingerprints for the entire family, and my kids use it daily when they come home from school—never an issue with access. I also get notifications on Apple Home when they arrive.

The lock's physical quality is good. Looks like its made of high quality materials. It's the functionality that is not good.

New Bolt Fingerprint

Terrible experience. Bought this from ULTRALOQ direct and after just 2 weeks I experienced problems and support had me completely do a factory reset and start over. It worked ok for another 2 weeks and support wanted me to go through the entire setup once again. I told him forget it. He then said he is sending me a new keypad to fix the problem. That has never happened. I would like ULTRALOQ to take this back and issue a refund. They are selling defective products and have horrible support.

Works well when it works!

This is my 4th Utec deadbolt lock product. Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint claims 1 year battery life and requires 8AA batteries!!! I’m lucky to get a couple months out of them before the lock starts dropping out of the network and doesn’t respond remotely until I go remove the batteries and reinstall. Then I usually can reconnect and everything works for a while. I only use high quality Duracell New Batteries and this lock is getting to be a nuisance and expensive to maintain. My two older models that take 4 AA batteries do go through a set of batteries every 3 to four months but do not seem to have the disconnection and unresponsive problem. I am not very happy with this newest model I installed in my primary residence. However, it does work well when it actually works!!!

Almost perfect

Work great but I was hoping an auto locking function with the away mode.

Almost good

I had the u-bolt previously and had trouble with Bluetooth, bridge, fingerprint, and Auto Unlock features not working reliably or not at all. The Bolt Fingerprint WiFi and Bluetooth works much better as does the fingerprint. However, the Auto Unlock features works very randomly and that means almost not at all. I would really like that feature as it is very useful when my hands are full.

Installation

Finally got lock to work properly, but if the installation is PERFECT with no friction or any type of angle (smallest fraction) motor will bind and no open properly, (typical lock installation allows for some "miscalculations" this lock will not, and if you have weather stripping around door, the lock may not "like" the extra friction when locking/unlocking (auto-lock or if you can't pull on the door when closing).

So far so good.

I’ve only had the lock installed for one week as of this review. I must say that it is performing extremely well. It recognizes my finger and authenticates very quickly. So far, I am impressed with the lock, its workmanship and its styling.

Upgrades are the best

Once I connected to the lock it works perfectly. Had a hiccup trying to connect to it, I contacted support, and they were the best. After some trial and error, it was decided the Bluetooth was not working properly. A new lock was immediately sent to me. I was able to install it, connect to it, and set it up. Great lock would recommend it to anyone.

Intermittent Connection

Notifications seem to work only 50% of the time, and when they don't work the Auto Unlock feature will fail. This is very frustrating as I bought this brand lock specifically for the Auto Unlock feature! Why does this not work properly?

Fingerprint recognition is extremely finicky + Battery life issues

Bought two of these locks. The locks themselves are well made of quality components, and are easy to install and setup.

Very clean install, setup, and operation

I have been very happy with this lock. Install was pretty straightforward and operation so far has been flawless. Fingerprint, code, app, Apple Homekit…they have all worked just fine. And setting up different users is easy. And I love being able to set up a code for a fixed period of time, like for a repair person. Only slight negative is the massive amount of AA batteries (8). We’ll see how long they last.

A mostly worthy upgrade from U-Bolt

Overall this is an excellent step up from the U-Bolt series. My only complaint is that, unlike the U-Bolt, the numbers are not backlit. Thus it is harder to see the buttons at night.

Waiting To See

Installing this item was easy. I’m waiting to see if this device does a better job on reporting the status of the batteries installed in it. I’ve had older models where the batteries would die, yet the app was saying the battery levels were “high.” That can leave you high and dry if you’re controlling remotely. Also, it sometimes will take multiple “lock” or “unlock” commands from the app before the lock responds. Taking a wait and see on this one.

One of the better locks out there!

It was easy to setup, the app is very thorough with instructions. I like that it connects to HomeKit and Alexa so that I can lock/unlock remotely. I got the premium one with the fingerprint reader, its a game changer!
