[Rewarded Review] Too expensive and too many flaws

Very frustrated with this product. The smart home integration simply doesn’t work. Yale iPhone and Apple Watch apps work well but I’ve never been to unlock the door in Apple home and I cannot connect it to google home. The touch screen is not sensitive enough . Also very disappointing that there is no NFC option.

My wife and I really love our new Yale Assure Lock. I installed it in less than 15 minutes and it works great. My favorite part about it is the remote access. I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.

Worst Locks and terrible service. DO NOT BUY

I bought this lock within the past year. First issue was I bought the wifi enabled lock so I could connect it to my home automation. Lock came without the module so I had call and they sent it out the next week. In September (less than a year from install) the keypad stopped working, I called and had to send in a a video of the malfunction. They said they would send a new one.... Weeks have gone by, I called and they said it was on its way. It gets here 2 weeks later and they sent the WRONG lock. I had to give them the serial number and model and they give me the wrong one? Seriously? I call in to their service number. They can't do anything for me because they are changing over their system and the person on the phone says that the company just had a meeting about this. None of the reps are trained on the new system so there is nothing that they can do about it. She gave me an email and told me to email them. Eventually they will process the back log of emails once they get trained on the system. In the meantime, I have a keypad lock that doesn't work and hasn't worked for months What a joke. Do NOT BUY.

The lock appeared to be in good condition but was defective, which prevented me from completing the installation. I ordered a replacement, only to find that both locks had the same serial number. Consequently, I could not install either lock properly and received an error message indicating that the serial number was invalid for both locks. I initiated a return on BestBuy.com, marking the item as defective. I mailed the lock back using a free UPS label they provided, and they refunded my original payment.

First off, I was impressed with two (2) things:

Yale has made it very easy and straightforward to install and set up their Smart Lock. Instructions for setting it up come in the packaging but there is also an app available that walks you through the actual install and setup step-by-step. Using the app for the setup guide helped me get through trouble I was having with updating the lock’s firmware and a separate issue once I installed the lock on the door. (Which brings up another point; issues you could have during the setup are listed within their website and the app takes you to it and helps you find a solution). Overall, the install and setup took me about 40 minutes and I was ready to go. I also happened to like that the lock came with several pieces that come in handy such as a sensor, to detect if the door is open (this is part of the “Yale Network” module and the “Connected by August Kit” module and is installed separately and instructions on how to install it come within the app), and an additional optional door handle key hole blank (can switch it out for the door handle key hole if you would prefer not to have a key lock on the handle). This particular lock comes with the Yale Network module but can be upgraded easily (simply switched out) in the future.

This is not my first Yale lock product. I am a big fan and have a keypad deadbolt on my garage and it is awesome. So when looking for a keypad lever option I decided to look at the Yale options first this time. The application I wanted it for was in my wife's home office, as we have young kids and don't want them getting into the room to mess things up.

I was so excited when I learned about this interior smart lock!! I have had yale products on my front exterior door for about four years now and have been waiting for an interior designed model!! Knowing that the exterior products have held up and performed flawlessly, I didn't hesitate to add this one to my home. I have an electronics closet that the kids somehow always find a way to mess up settings in and this has completely solved my problem. It is designed to replace most standard setups and this was the case for me. Basically, it was plug and play. I just unscrewed the old hardware, and this yale smart interior hardware fit perfectly without absolutely zero issues. No only does it function as advertised, it upgrades the look and coolness factor of a regular interior door ten fold. As soon as I can think of a reason to need another one, I won't hesitate to stick with yale and continue upgrading with their products. Their install and setup instructions and process has become more user friendly over the past few generations of their smart locks, so even if you aren't tech savy, it's easy to diy

The lock is very attractive, the finish is top notch, and ergonomics are good. The LCD keypad is completely black when not in use, but the number and symbols are very bright and easy to read once activated. I prefer the long handles to a knob for an entrance door. They are easier to use when your hands are full carrying things or if you have a disability.

[Rewarded Review] Easy to use, install, and segregate your spaces

Yale is well known for their locks. A few years ago, they branched out to include electronic locks. They brought their customer focused approach with them while incorporating some impressive technology. This lock is designed for interior doors only which latch when closed. If you have a deadbolt on the door, this lock will likely not fit beneath the deadbolt.

Once installed, the Yale Assure lock is responsive and easy to use. The installation, however, took a bit of time. I feel the instructions could have been a bit more clear, but I ultimately figured it out.

Smart locks are the way to go.. Included is everything you need to change out your old door handle to the Yale Assure Lock. Here is my advice though, before you do anything read the instructions all the way through, then read them again. Next, take off one side of your handle and measure the bore diameter and make sure it is at least 2 1/8", you need that room.

The Yale Assure Lock smart lock is a amazing door lock. The install went smoothly and had not issues. The interaction is very simple. The instructions included are very simple to follow for installation. You are able to add different access code and are able to delete them upon command. The device itself feels like a solid build and very simple to use. You are able to program for auto locking after a certain amount of time and also a one key lock. It uses 4 AA batteries, and it has a low battery indicator. You may ask yourself what happens if you do not swap the batteries out well it can be as simple as use the 1 key included or better off if you are in a true bind, you can use a 9-volt battery by touching the terminals in the front of the lock right underneath the numbers. Overall a very nicely built door lock. Keep in mind it is for interior doors or doors not exposed to the elements. It will bring you office security to the next level with this lock. The only dislike is the fact it only included one key, or what would have been nice is if you would be able to program your current house key to the new lock. However, i am very satified with teh security this lock provides my homer office.

Installation of this lock is very easy and this smart lock works great. It took less than 20 minutes to take the old one off, and install this one on the door to my garage which is great because now I can remotely access not only the garage door but the door inside the garage for when packages are delivered and keep the house locked. This particular set is for a single hole door which often is an interior or exterior door that does not have a deadbolt. Yale makes other locks like these which are for those types of doors. I would say where this is a touchscreen I'd recommend not putting it on your front or back doors that could get wet with rain/snow/sprinklers as just like with your smartphone, touchscreens tend to not work too great when wet or they act funny so I can imagine this lock would be no different. You might be fine if you have a glass storm door but you'd still want to avoid getting water on it as water tends to make touchscreens act funny or not respond correctly to touch/keypresses and it could even damage it. That would be my only concern with this lock is just making sure you install it on the right kind of door and with the right exposure! Yale doesn't say that is is water resistant so I'd imagine if you put it on a door that exposes it to rain/snow you will very likely have issues!

If you're looking for a nice looking and functional interior door lock, you could do worse than this. With somewhat easy installation and setup and dead simple functionality, this is just a nice door lock for something like a garage or closet you might want to keep the kids out of.
