Not beginner friendly
The bobbin will get stuck very easily and it jumps timing. This is not for beginners. This is not my first sewing machine, but I still had trouble getting it back on timing and when I did, the bobbin still would not turn.
Poor quality with cheap nylon parts.
First time using it the nylon drive gears broke. I literally had this thing for 9 hours and it broke. I went through the setup steps and completed one project, then moved to the next one with a simple zigzag stitch and it wouldn't do anything. I turned the spindle counterclockwise and heard a clicking noise. Took the cover off and the two drive gears were missing several teeth each. Very disappointed.
Don't aggravate yourself
Used it once and sewed fine for about 6 inches of stitching.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
After using my Singer for 60 years, it was finally time to buy another. I thought this would be perfect since I only use it for repairs any more. The bobbin casing would move with the bobbin which would break the needle. I did everything I knew to make sure it was seated correctly but that did not help. I've learned that Singer sold out to a company overseas so you no longer get quality you can rely on. I would definitely not buy any new Singer!
Cheap and broke almost immediately. Can’t be returned to JOANNS.
Garbage. Stopped working almost immediately. Within a week. This was my daughters and she brought it over when the bottom thread wasn’t being picked up but he top. I sew. I spent two hours making sure everything. Was in the right spot and nope, it’s just not working a. You can’t return it to Joann’s which is terrible so now she has to sort it out with Singer. It’s less than two week old:
Worked fine for a minute…then…
I purchased this little sewing machine to do some mending. I managed to hem two pairs of pants, started on the third pair, then the bobbin stopped working, I went online and saw many other people have the same issue with the Bobbin. I took the machine apart, and still will not work. Now I have to find a sewing machine repair shop and will probably cost more to repair than actually buying a new one. I’m an experienced seamstress, I own several sewing machines and a Serger. I just wanted something smaller to do smaller projects and I’m really disappointed it does not work.
Complicated simple sewing machine
Gave the M1000 machine a 4 because, I own a very complicated Bernina and found winding the bobbin on the M1000 quite a challenge. Instructions in book were not so helpful and the videos, once stopped at spots was OK. Finally figured it out. Amazing how a simple machine could have given me difficulty! But once wound and threaded, it sewed really well. Nice even stitches.
[Rewarded Review] Not a good machine!
I thought I was going to love this little mending machine. I just needed something for hemming. It was small and lightweight and winding the bobbin was easy. Threading the needle proved to be a little more difficult. I didn't like the size of the foot pedal. It was so tiny that I had a difficult time keeping it from slipping. Even with that I would have kept the machine, but the foot pedal was defective. The machine would start but it sewed so slow that it would have been faster to sew by hand with a needle and thread (no exaggeration). I returned the machine and purchased a different Singer sewing machine the next day.
I’m still learning…great beginner sewing machine
I can’t really give a good review . It blame myself from rushing and constantly making mistakes. I had to keep watching the videos. The thread keeps slipping off the needle and have to re-thread over and over.
Mrs
Yesterday I plugged in the sewing machine and the foot switch was not working. This morning I decided to try again and plugged the AC adapter in a different outlet and the foot switch is working.
Great for the price!
Works well for for mending. Keep in mind that this is not a full sized machine. I have hemmed up jeans and it does the job! The fastest speed that it sews isn't very fast. This would be an excellent machine for a beginner. But me being 70 years old, it is just right for me too.
[Rewarded Review] Nice smaller machine.
This machine is half the size of my original Singer sewing machine, much easier to handle & to pick up & move & my original one I bought in 1978 weighs so much more. I highly recommend this small model for a beginner or a experienced sewer.
[Rewarded Review] Singer m1000
I bought this specifically because it featured a finger guard for my 9 year old granddaughter.
Terrible, and I’ve gone through 2 brand new ones
The bobbin basket pops out of place and breaks needles randomly, on thin to medium fabrics. I wouldn’t dare try a heavy fabric on this. Waste of money. Hunk of junk. Might as well burn your money in a fire.
Attractive but lacking
This mending machine will not even do hems. Which is basically what I purchased it for. The stitch is not long enough for a nice top stitch for heming. Wish I could have seen what it could do. Mending not so much. and it is very small. Makes you feel like you don't have a real machine.
This sewing machine did not work well
After replacing the bobbin once, I could not get the thread to catch when bobbin thread. There is a video that shows how to take it apart and tighten a screw and then it worked. But it only worked for a short time. I am returning it.
The bobbin got stuck in the bobbin holder
This worked for about a month and the bobbin got stuck in the bobbin holder every time we used this. It was a real mess. I could not return this because the 90 days were over at that time. We trusted Singer for decades, but this was unfortunate. I am disappointed with Singer's sewing machines.
It’s a Toy!
It should be in the toy department. It is not worth the price. It can’t stay balanced while sewing, jumping and shaking while sewing. Therefore sewing comes out crooked. It should be in the toy dept for $30.
[Rewarded Review] AWESOME machine!!!
This machine is awesome! I bought it for quick easy repairs, and it works great! It is small but mighty! It’s also very simple to use so it is a great first machine for beginners. I love it!
Love it!
Bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter. It works perfectly and she loves it! It was easy to set up/thread and she was sewing in just a few minutes. I would recommend it to anyone for general sewing and mending but not for heavy fabrics. It is light and could travel very easily on trips.
