Junk

This machine is junk. I would give it a negative number for a rating if I could. It makes so much noise and clunks as you are sewing 2 cotton pieces of material together. It did this within a month. Unfortunately I bought it at Walmart and was 1 day late so I could not return it. I called Brothers customer service and was told I would have to take it to a store that does their warranty work. The closest place to have someone look at it is 2 hours from where I live. It is junk and I will never buy another one and I will tell everyone it is junk.

Good, versatile machine for all levels of users

Great machine and meets nearly all my needs in a machine! I love all the decorative and functional stitches. It's easy to operate and functional enough for both new and experienced sewers. My only issue with the machine is that it can't handle denim and heavier threads very well. Other than that, it has been a great machine.

Great Machine!

Bought this machine for a quilting class. It’s so lightweight and easy to use. I’m currently working on my 4th quilt. Love it!

Easy to use and move around for storage!

I love this machine! As a person who is relatively new to sewing (had some small project lessons as a kid), this has been incredibly user-friendly. It's taking my learner abuse and still ticking. Love that it's light enough to move around the house, as I have limited space, and the built in handle area makes that even easier!

Happy with results

I sew as a hobby, and have used this new machine now for about 50 hours of sewing, all of which required use of various stitches, both decorative and utility (but no embroidery), on small craft items such as doll clothes. I had been using a much older machine before, and had certain usage habits that wouldn't work on this new machine, but I found that as i became more familiar with the various feet(J,G,N), spool caps, needle sizes and types, thread tensions, bobbin winding specifics,as well as read and followed the manual usage guide closely for best results, that this made sewing narrow seams and very thin and fragile materials as well as thicker than average fabrics such as velvet easier and neater. So i am very safisfied now with the results in making a more professional-like result with a wider variety of fabric.

Happy with the machine but!

The machine is great for the price. Easy to use after you read the instruction book carefully.

Great machine

I was looking for a replacement machine, but got so much more! This machine is a joy to use. I haven't used all the stitches yet, I'm trying out something new all the time. Very user friendly.

Greatest customer service

Brother Customer Service cannot be beat! I had a problem stemming from 2 year ago when I had a heart attack. Was unable to just recently contact Brother and leave a comment!

Sewing is fun and easy with my Brother.

I needed a new sewing machine and wanted a slight upgrade from my original basic Brother sewing machine, which was over 25 years old. This machine has more stitches and capabilities, but not complicated to use. Feeding the bobbin and loading the bobbin is simple, as is threading the machine. This machine is good for those with all sewing levels.

Great Quality Machine

I love this machine. The only thing missing is an automatic thread cutter. The quality is great. I’ve made many projects so far this year and have had no issues. Everything is easy to see use and understand. It is a beautiful and well functioning machine. I will only use brother.

Beginner Sewer

I am a beginner at sewing and this is my first machine. It’s very easy to use and nice and quiet! It has more stitch options than I will probably ever use which is nice that it’s not a basic machine. The on-line YouTube video on how to use it is fantastic!!

Great sewing machine at a great price!

I love this machine! I use it for quilting or basic sewing. Has all the features I need with great accessories. Runs smoothly, and has a DVD tutorial. Arrived quickly and was well packaged.

Meets all the expectations on my checklist.

I love this machine. While I have been sewing a long time I prefer to do simple quick projects. I did not want to invest a major amount of money but I wanted versatility. This machine is quiet to sew with, has the threader, wide variety of stitches, and drop in bobbin that I was wanting in my purchase. The bobbin winder is easy to use as well. The machine is light weight, making it easier to take with me if I want to sew for my grandkids (and take it when I visit). I haven't had it too long, but with the care that I give to any machine, I expect to have it for a long time. While a beginner sewist may be a little overwhelmed by the number of functions, the directions make it easy for anyone wanting to learn to sew to pick up on its uses.

Wonderful machine, lots of great options and funct

Wonderful machine. Lots of options and accessories. The included instruction manual is very clear and concise, I don't have a lot of sewing experience but this machine is wonderful! Super user-friendly, seems to be well made. It's quiet as well.

Fun and easy to use.

I bought this machine from Amazon after inheriting an old 1970's model Elna with interchangeable discs. What an easy and fun machine to use! I have done some free motion quilting, monogramming, buttonholes, and decorative stitches will have ease. It is important to use the manual and online help videos on YouTube. I have made a great many masks for Covid-19 protection and bought a brother walking foot to help with uneven fabric thicknesses. I get so much pleasure that I lose track of time and needed to put clock in view. I did need to supplement the lighting, but my eyes are 60+ years old.

Finally, I got one!!!

This purchase was highly anticipated!! After spending weeks, days and nights checking sites for a machine that has not been purchased and resold for two or three times the amount, I found this one at Walmart around 2am. Super happy with the purchase! Beautiful machine for my sister who is thrill to have it. It has quality, versatility, affordability and ease of use to help someone grow in their sewing skills for many years to come. I highly recommended to anyone who can actually get it at this time for a reasonable price from a legit store. Now, if I could only find another for me.... :o}

Brother HC1850 Sewing machine

This sewing machine is so nice, I just love it. There are so many stitches on it. You can sew without using the pressure foot, because of the on/off button. The digital window is so nice, you just pick out what stitch you want. This is my second Brother sewing machine. Very happy with my purchase.

Hate this machine

I 30 sewing when I was 15 I am now 51 I have never run into a machine that has so much problems the thread keeps breaking The upper thread keeps breaking. The upper thread keeps getting tangled in the bobbin and jams and tangles at the bottom of the fabric. The needle breaks for no reason when I was doing the J05 and the needle just broke. I had twin needles, one broke and right after that the 2nd broke. My fabric keeps getting jammed and it keeps eating my fine fabrics. I have yet to finish any project have started on 4 or 5 and cannot finish. I've had the machine for 2 months. Purchased from Amazon. This

Lighting and bobbin winder issues

I have 2 issues with this machine. The first is the lighting is very dim, even though all info boasts of a “super bright led light”. Secondly, the bobbin wonder winds a little wonky leaving some parts fatter than others. I took my machine in to a certified repair shop under warranty and afterwards going through the entirety machine, they also agree the lighting was dim, even with a new bulb and all new wiring. Other than these 2 issues, I really like this machine. I’ve used multiple feet and stitches without any problems. It’s very light weight for moving or travel.
