How many ways can I say a product is defective? A total Lemon

I have had the product for the last four months and on six occasions (almost once a month to a "t") the unit has lost power and would not engage. In each instance, my building superintendent had to reset and I was forced to go to the gym to take a shower. As another poster noted, there should be a bypass system. I have previously written reviews that have not been responded to. DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY.

Keep Having To Reset Breaker In My Home???

I have 3 of these in my home for 3 different bathrooms and every single one, once every week or two, is completely off when I go to take a shower and I have to go downstairs to my electrics, unplug the system for 5 minutes, and reset my breaker in order to get it running again. For how expensive this system is this should NOT be happening.

Moen us not able to service this device

I will start by saying I was before this shower a huge Moen supporter, I have Moen fixtures at home, my weekend house, and work.

Bought on it died at just after 5 years,

Moen has non-existent customer support, This unit is very cool but if it breaks there only option you have is to purchase a new one, Customer Service has not responded to my open ticket in over a week, I don't think they ever answer the phone.

Constant firmware issues

This product is constantly having issues over the 12+ months I’ve been using it. The technology has glitches and it causes uncertainty when taking a shower. Most recently it stopped working completely. When I called Moen they said it was a known issue and that they were working on it. They couldn’t give me a timeframe as to when it would be fixed other then they are working on it. So now I’m on day 5 without a shower and have no idea when it will be fixed. My recommendation is to not buy this product and stick a conventional setup.

The Moen digital shower controller is a nice upgrade. We needed a controller on the opposite side of the shower from the shower head, so the water could be turned on without entering the shower. This takes up a lot of space but the installation is pretty straight forward. We used plex plumbing and left access to the valve with a drywall access panel.

The U system is incredible. Can lay in bed and say "hey Google turn on the shower to 103" and it starts and warns up while I get up. Walk into a warm ready shower

Works good as a shower valve replacement

The idea is great and the valve works well but its lacking for Home automation. To connect it to Wifi and then get it to connect it to google home assistant was an absolute night mare.

Moen ingenuity

Nice slender design. Installation was straight forward. Footprint was larger than I expected. This is a very large item when thinking about valves. Placement could be a concern if space is limited. Check dimensions.

Alexa functionality not quite working.

I have been using this diverter for about a month now and the diverter functionality works great!!! I use it with two rain showers and they both work great either by themselves or when they are both runnin gat the same time. The App and controller work great. The functionality with Alexa is not where it should be. I have yet toget it to work on command even though Alexa discovers it and shows it synched with generic command suggestions. Hoping this will get resolved with an update but only time will tell.

I love my smart shower

So my main motivation for purchasing this product was that it allowed me to put the shower controls in a different spot than where the valves were. My original shower had an access panel in the bedroom while which always annoyed me. When renovating the shower, I considered putting the valve to backup to a closet, but that would make you need to reach across the water spray when to access the controls from outside the shower. This was really only a minor problem, but when I came across the U by Moen system, I realized that it was a potential solution.

The only critique I have is that the box only accommodates a vertical installation where I'd prefer the ability to hang it horizontally. I've had a few power outages since I've installed the unit, and it's taken over flawlessly.

This is just a simple battery holder with a lead and a plug for the main unit. This would cost like $3 or $4 at most to make. Really Moen, for the price, it should have rechargeable batteries and keep them charged so they they are ready for an outage. If it did that, it might then be worth the price. So, I did knock 1 star off for the price gouging, but I did know up front what the price and functionality was for the unit. I have not actually tried it out, but I am assuming it will work when it is called upon.

This works great. Has batteries in a case that mounts in access panel and plugs into the u by Moen valve. If the power goes it automatically runs off this backup ..so you can finish your shower and get the shampoo out of your hair! If your powers out, your lights are gonna be off but I guess you could still shower by candlelight with this backup if you wanted/ needed to. Without this back-up the unit automatically just shuts the water off if your electricity goes out.

Very happy 9 months into using!

We installed this as part of a renovation 9 months ago. We have enjoyed this vs. a standard shower very much, and we're happy we purchased it! We chose the Moen product because we thought the value vs. Kohler products with similar function was much better - although being 'early adopters' we felt we were taking some risk. After 9 happy months of use, we can strongly recommend the product. We use the Alexa voice-enabled functionality, and the presets on a rainshower and handheld, as well as the timer functionality. We have had one minor issue, caused by some electrical work being done elsewhere in our apartment. Customer service was very helpful, and we were able to re-boot the device and resolve the problem quickly.
