Yeah, after I bought this thing I turned around and saw it online for the same thing for more than half the price. So yeah, it was cool. I needed it and to get the project done. But I definitely will shop around. This was not worth its price. Considering my buddy's doing his bathroom and he bought the one online. And wow, it's the same thing. And he paid wayless
Easy install for DYI
I replaced an older American Standard that had discontinued parts. I trust that this new Delta system will not go out of availablity for many years. It was easy to get installed and "max temp setup ".
Wrong part
When the plumber began putting together the shower, he said the threads on one of the parts had a manufacture error. We ended up having to purchase ANOTHER valve and will have to pay the plumber even more to come back and to finish the job. Our project is now delayed and we are out even more money. Very disappointing.
Just installed it last week, and so far we love it! Was easy to install, however the plaster guard wasn't useful when installing into an existing space (couldn't get the connection arms into the 4" hole with the guard attached), which caused me to have to eyeball alignment, and I got slightly off. Not a deal breaker, but I say this for others to be aware. Anyway, it was a wonderful upgrade for us - replacing a Delta valve that was 40-50 years old.
[Rewarded Review] Shower valve
Did a full bathroom remodel which included replacing the old non-pressure balancing shower valve. This served the purpose very nicely. The adjustable water stops are a nice bonus feature so save on hot water.
Glad we bought this at the same time as we bought the shower and tub faucet. One thing we didn't know at the time, you have to buy a cartridge that goes in the middle. And the cartridge you need depends upon the shower system you select. But once this multi choice universal is in place, you can easily switch out cartridges as needed if we ever remodel again or get a new shower system. At least that's my understanding!
Not for residential!
If I wasn't on a schedule, I would have returned for the other rough in valve offered. This rough in valve has on off valves for each supply line but as I was made aware it's more for multi-unit residences and not necessarily for single family homes where the water shut off for the house is plenty. This valve gave me two more points of possible failure that I didn't need. The likely hood is probably low, but you never know and I would much rather have the more simple design. Valve works as designed though.
Normally, Wayfair is reliable and products are as expected they should be. I received a Delta multichoice rough in, the box was in another box. Original packing was damaged and open with parts possibly missing. I am not sure the rough in recommended is even the correct one. I have yet to install it to confirm it works correctly until I investigate further. I do not want to sweat in or otherwise damage this item so its un-returnable, also instLl to have to uninstall.

Only if the instructions told you the correct cartridge needed and what fixtures fit this. You need the correct Delta fixtures to make everything work correctly. Make sure you pick out the correct pieces to save trips back, plus the employee at the store had no idea what fit this correctly, that was frustrating. But the install was easy, Either sweat or NPT options makes that part easy
The first one arrived with no pins. I wrote the company they immediately sent me another one, which was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the second one had pins but one of them didn’t have the washers on it. So it’s useless. In the meantime I went and bought something else. I just took a bust on the price of this. I will say this, they are very quick to send it. That was helpful but I’ve been waiting a week now to put this in because they keep sending me pieces and parts instead of the full piece
Good but strainer too flimsy
The valve looks good. Easy to install, and one can tell it is generally well manufactured. One problem though: I tried to remove the plastic strainer inside to make sure it doesn't get distorted by the heat when soldering, and the pins keeping it in place broke right away. I think this is a manufacturing weakness because the strainer is supposed to be cleaned once in a while to remove precipitants. I still recommend the product.
You can't go wrong with Delta... ever. Solid brass and lifetime warranty. I'm very happy with this. . . Update...it's been about a year since this was installed and everything is still working great. The two handles move smooth and flawlessly. In fact we liked it so much we bought it again for our guest bathroom which is now under going a remodel. . . Like I said, you can never go wrong with delta.

Having a contractor remodel two bathrooms, we found we could no longer find trim for a 33 year old tub and shower valves and made a last minute decision to replace them both with new valves. I was shocked that this Delta was just about the only valve body in stock at local stores among the several brands available. But the more I researched this universal unit the more I realized it was a near perfect choice. I picked up two and my contractor installed them with out issues. I liked the idea of having service shutoffs built in. I especially liked the wide range of choices for valves and trims available for this unit. We wound up going with a T17238 dual handle valve set that provides independent flow and temperature control. Works perfectly.

Install was easy. You need to have multichoice cartridge for valve. Old 13/14 series cartridge will not work. must get new multichoice 13/14 series .Make sure stops are installed before pressure test and flushing. Instructions are not clear on if stops need to be installed before pressure test and flushing. Called Customer Service rep said I did not have to have them installed. Wrong answer.

This is for use with Delta shower systems ONLY. I had another version of the valve, but, this one has flow controls built in. You can turn of your hot and cold water supplies within this unit, without having to go to the lines, which may be in out of the way places. Makes it much easier to clean or replace the control cartridge. Since the unit it replaced is over nine years old, they seem to have modified this slightly for better water flow. The original control cartridge fits fine. The built in flow controls made this a worthwhile upgrade. Note: because of the inclusion of the flow controls, the unit is a bit wider than the original which may affect the mounting location. Please see photo.
Good valve
Good valve, however you need an expander tool to attach pex to valve. I don't have ohe tool so I will not be able to use the valves. The cost of the tool is 250.00 to 800.00 dollars. I'm a retired person and we are building our own home. This was a mistake do to my lack of knowledge. M12 ProPEX Expansion Tool Kit w/ 1/2", 3/4", and 1" Heads, (2) M12 XC Batteries, Charger

I purchased this for a recent bathroom remodel in a condo. Our unit does not have a separate water shut off valve so water needs to be shut off to the entire building in order to install the valve, I chose this valve because of the integrated water shut off valves that will allow me to service the valve in the future without having to turn off the water to the building. The valve has flexible installment options to sweat 1/2" copper, use a threaded connection, or fit an adapter for PEX connections. Well made solid brass unit, if you are going to purchase a Delta Multichoice Universal valve, spend the extra few bucks and get this one with the integral stops

This rough-in valve body with built-in stops does exactly as advertised and allows great flexibility when choosing the final shower valve cartridge and trim (purchased separately) features. Be sure to review the instruction sheet packed with the valve body before framing the shower/bath enclosure. Plan ahead because the built-in stops add some width needed for installing it. (Delta does sell a similar body without the stops, but having the stops allow you to repair or replace the cartridge without shutting off the entire water system.) There is also a nice feature of being able to install the cartridge with the hot water entering either left or right side (as in two showers/tubs, installed as back to back). Soldering copper pipe to this valve is not difficult but it does take more heat than a smaller fitting. I'm not a professional plumber and this is the second one of these I've installed.

Excellent to have even though it's not available in stores and you have to order it on-line. This valve can be turned off using the stops in the event of a leak when you need to order a Delta cartridge for a more permanent repair. After the initial installation, you don't have to turn off the water to the whole house to close the valve. Really handy not to waste water, and especially beneficial to keep water well pumps from running continually when there is a leak. This valve was used in a rural home with water supplied via a private well. Delivery to the store was fast. Well worth ordering it.
Old dog... new tricks!
The 1300/1400 series Delta tub/shower controllers sometimes did exactly as they pleased. Then you would try to adjust the hot/cold valve controls and the adjusters would start leaking. Cutting out a hole in the wall and then cutting out the old valve and replacing it is the only cure. This unit does the job in an excellent manner. You will have to change the cartridge for the new valve, but when finished you will have many more years of delta faucet to use. The two legs on the old cartridge are too short to use in the new valve.
