I was a little worried when i first opened the box to find a foam shower base. But after installation (wasn't bad for a DIYer) the Redi Base is rock solid!
I tore out an old pan 32 x 32 and ordered a tile redi pan 32 x 32. The old pan had the drain exactly centered , but this pan was not. I believe center drain measurement was 14 14.5 x 16? In any event it was problematic. Don’t know why center drain does mean center drain. I returned this item
The tile ready Pan is great. It's just way over price. It's 3 times as high as it should be.
Good Product.
It was better than I expected. It went in as easy as the fiberglass ones. Be sure and order the flanges to go around the edges.

This thing is virtually impossible to install correctly. You have to shimmy it down into a mortar bed while simultaneously making a connection to the PVC drain pipe before the solvent dries. How you are supposed to shimmy a pan back & forth in a 3-sided enclosure while it's cemented in the middle to a pipe is beyond me. And if you don't get the mortar to migrate up into the ribs on the bottom, the flimsy foam pan is going to break (yes, it's made of foam, despite the outrageous cost). We got it done by laying it upside-down and pre-filling the ribs with mortar, placing a piece of durarock over that (otherwise the hardened mortar will fall out because the foam is non-porous), and letting it harden. Then we had to use a lever and strap system to install it because it weighed about 100 pounds at that point. For the time and trouble and expense of getting this thing installed, I could have built 6 shower pans from scratch.
DO NOT BUY
In all honestly this should not even be allowed to be sold ANYWHERE. Thought this would save a lot of time however it turned out to be a nightmare and costing us a lot more. Even after following the directions it flexes and nothing adheres to that material it is made out of. Please, do yourself the favor and not even consider this product as an option.
[Rewarded Review] FLEXES UNDERFOOT
We had this professionally installed per specifications, after it was set it flexed and "popped" underfoot. Called Mfr. for solution only to find we needed to remove and reinstall thinking it was installer's error. Removed and reset again, same issue. Customer reviews on Mfr site state same issue; customers very disappointed. At $574 + installation we have no resolve other than to remove and replace with something else $$$. Hoping Lowes will accept return and discontinue the product. Do not buy this!

Unless you have access to the drain from below don’t bother. Impossible to set and the product is very fragile. Seems very cheap. Poor design and quality.

Appears to be a quality product, but the cost as excessive. For such a simple product the markup must be extremely high.

Worked well, but was a little fragile. I broke a piece moving it. Also, I kept asking myself, how does this thing cost so much. But it did work as promised.

This pan may work well for some, but it is very lightweight and required the same amount of work in terms of a mortar underlayment as using a rubber liner. You don't just slide the Tile Redi pan in like you do with a vinyl pan. As far as I can tell, the Tile Redi pan is a substitute for the rubber liner, curb and blocking, which total about $60 and an hour of work. I sent my Tile Redi back and did the shower base myself.
Don't Waste your Money!
We purchased this for our contractor to install. The issue is that there isn't any slope to the drain. Therefore, every time we take a shower, we have to squeegee the water to the drain or else it just sits on the tile and in the corners. I am certainly not happy that after the cost of this purchase and the cost of my contractor, I am left with a bathroom that I am very unhappy with.
Pricey Shower Pan
I know I got a good leak-proof base and that is what I really was looking for. The product was on the expensive side and required several steps to install which resulted in higher labor cost. Product could be improved by changing the outside and inside tapered "walls" to vertical 90 degree walls. Overall it was the peace of mind factor (leak-proof) that got my wallet out. Home Depot handled the transaction flawlessly.
Solid Idea But Here Are My Suggestions
This saved me a lot of time not having to build a mortar base so that part was good. Here are my suggestions and tips.
Don't waste your money
I wanted this product work and in spite of the negative reviews on other websites, I purchased it anyway. Installed it exactly to the manufacturers instructions, in mortar on a concrete floor. 48 hours after setting it in the mortar the base flexed in places when stepped on and this would have made the tile crack. The base had to be removed and in the interest of time and money I standard shower pan was put in. A total waste of money. Please, read what is said in the internet tile forums about this product before you buy, and heed their warnings!
nice simple base
great base for simple easy install
Buyer Beware
We followed the instructions to the letter when setting this base. Using the recommended mortar we seated the base and allowed the mortar to dry. When the tile guy came he refused to tile this base. He said the flex in the base would cause the grout and possibly even the tile to crack over time. We pulled the base up, cleaned it, and tried setting it again with the same results, too much flex in the base. Finally we scrapped it and went with the Kerdi Schluter system. I wish we would have started with that. What a waste of $600.
