Beautiful and sturdy deadbolt. Arrived in less than 24 hrs after I placed order. However, I had to return it. Screws for the strike plate were missing and some very long (2 inches+) screws were included. Weird. Home Depot accepted my return, no questions asked. I mentioned the problem w the screws but staff didn't care to listen

This product is a high quality and is visually beautiful. It is exceptionally made to last a lifetime with a lifetime warranty. I really like the fact that it has SMARTKEY Re-key technology that allows me to re-key the lock as many times as I wish without removing the lock that is installed. So cool! Easy to install with only the use of a screwdriver. It a is heavy duty lock that will keep you safe!

I had to replace the same exact version because the cartridge where you insert the key got damaged with the original baldwin lock. The only way we could get into the house was through the garage door opener, and that has failed every once in awhile. There was none of the same exact Baldwin type deadbolts available at either the local Lowes or Home Depot. Got this overnight from Home Essentials Direct. Swapped out the front portion with the key, and because of the smart-key feature, I was able to reset the tumblers to use my existing keys. This saved in replacing about 7 existing keys which my whole family had. Phew. Thanks, Home Essentials Direct and Baldwin!!!

I really like the rekey feature too. I wasnt sure about that at first but after I saw how easy it was Im not sure Id be happy with anything else. I really like this lock; the shape is lovely, it's very sturdy and it was easy to install and I like having the bigger finger grip for the key. Also, they lock is smart key compatible. I didn't even know what that was before this came to my house but it seems it is super easy to rekey, or if you bought two locks for your house with different keys but only wanted to carry around one key you could rekey one of the locks (this only works with smart keys, I tried it with a key from my other door that is an older Baldwin model and it did NOT work)

Nothing says expensive like a Baldwin lock. I use it on high-rent rental properties. A tenant can tell the difference right away between a Baldwin and any other brand. You pay for it, but it depends on why you want such a fancy brand. For me, its worth it.

Beautiful, solid piece to replace a Schlage.

I only had the Schlage a few months before it got stuck on lock. When I opened it up there were many tiny pieces everywhere. This hardware looks and feels much more durable and solid. I have another Baldwin on the front door that has been the best Single-cylinder deadbolt I have ever owned so far. Feels like quality, even the keys are higher quality.

Excellent locks, smooth operation, easy to install

We had 4 outside door locks origially installed with same-key operation. The most frequently used door lock broke and needed to be replaced, but that one lockset would then be keyed differently from all the other door locks. So I purchased new locks all keyed the same for this door and the one next to it into the garage. These were very easy to install and have a very smooth operation. Love these new Baldwin SmartKey locks!!

Do not buy this. We have three of them that all match doorknobs. The key stopped working with this lock (6 years old). Luckily we were trying to leave so we were not locked out of the house. I had to buy another same exact lock to replace the malfunctioning one, because it matches my two back door locks. I now have two sets of keys for all three doors because my old smart key would not fit in the new lock and the old locks are not working when I try the smart key to rekey them. Bad quality. Piece of junk. Probably made in China. I regret the purchase. If you buy it keep the receipt so you can get your money back when it fails.

I replaced all the door hardware in my house with Baldwin. They are all built like a tank and astatically pleasing. I get complements on them all the time. This dead bolt is no exception. Easy DIY installation. Love it and highly recommend it over other similar locks like Schlage. Smart key is also a nice bonus. Turning the know is buttery smooth.

Well made, attractive, matching piece - quite solid

Baldwin products are generally well made and attractive, and in this case, we ordered this deadbolt unit to match an existing knob lock/handle where we wanted to beef up security - lovely finish, matches perfectly. Like our other Baldwin pieces, the cylinder can be conveniently and easily re-keyed using the company's proprietary system, so that one key fits all locks .. or as many as you wish. The re-keying process in this case resulted in a cylinder that, with existing keys (the original, Baldwin-provided original key provided me the pattern for this re-keying), the cylinder is a bit fiddly - it takes some wiggling the key to allow the cylinder to turn. This is not optimal, but it's not fatal. We feel the convenience (and the high quality of the product) makes this still a worthwhile purchase.
