NOT IMPRESSED

Cheap wall panels... the shower pan is great... bought the 32x60 pan and i am not sure why this company would sell a 32in pan and the the front and back walls are not 32 inches... seems like they would design it as they did with the 60 inch side walls and let you trim it if needed. i installed a sliding glass door with this kit and at the rear of the shower i have a 2 inch space between the shower wall and where the door frame meets..so i have to think of a filler.. should have tiled .DO NOT BUY

Not as described

I purchased this item and I am very disappointed. It is flimsy and thin and leaves lots of areas that need to be caulked and may leak. It also was shown to be direct to stud and it is not, so after gutting the walks had to put new wall board up behind it. Overall very cheap and not worth the price. So disappointing.

Would definitely buy a different surround

The pan is acceptable however the surround is not well thought out. The seams are not great and leave 15 screws exposed covered with cheap plastic caps. From across the room looks good but in the shower you will constantly regret the overall finish. The glass shelves became slippery when wet and does not hold items very well at all. For the money you can get way better functioning and a more professional looking surround.

Too expensive to install

Base is same as any other base no issue, but I wish they made it a bit with more slope and deeper. It doesn’t come with drain. On the wall panels, only professionals can cut them, the worst thing about this model is requires backer boards which is very expensive and hard to cut square and plum to make it work. When I bought it I thought I just screw them , not the case. I would never buy this again. Considering pay for cement, board, edging, glue , caulk and drain it becomes too expensive.

5 Stars

We have yet to use but so far installation has been fairly straightforward. It fits the space perfectly and I am excited to be able to use. Way easier than tiling

This product is described as being two pieces. It is not. It is 5 pieces. Shower floor, and four side panels of flimsy acrylic sheets.

Flimsy walls but the base is great!

This was bought to replace the tub in my bathroom. The base of this product is excellent. It is well made and heavy and drains very well. It was easy to install. The walls for this product however, are flimsy and not worth the money I spent. They are thin and the strip of plastic that comes with the product to attach the two pieces of the back wall would have let water in behind the boards. If your walls did not have the studs in the places needed prior to putting up the walls the panels were useless. I ended up using the base and just tiling the walls which turned out beautiful. If I had known this at the beginning, I would have just gotten the base and saved the money.

Low quality materials and poorly conceived design

I have installed several different shower enclosures and found this to be the worst yet. For what it is, this product should be sold at discount bathroom supply outlets for no more than $500. The material is low quality and flimsy. The die cuts are imprecise. The whole design of the unit is horribly ill-conceived, for which the company tries to compensate with convoluted and incomplete installation instructions. And good luck figuring out a way to neatly trim the top for aesthetics as well as to prevent overspray and condensation from seeping behind the panels and the corner trim. I wish I could provide a negative star rating.

Not damaged upon arrival but way more complicated

All pieces arrive in good shape. This is a big deal since we had ordered two other stalls of a different brand and they arrived broken.

Home Depot website has the DreamLine products listed as 'Direct to Stud' installation. This is not the case. I even called the manufacturer and they confirmed their products are not for 'Direct to Stud'. The walls are very flimsy and meant for a remodel. You will need dry wall or backer board behind the walls. Also, the description said the walls are 3 pieces, but the walls are 4 pieces. The back wall will have a seam.

"2-Piece" is misleading

There are four pieces: 2 ends and 2 pieces which are joined in the middle to form the long side. Other than that, the instructions were good and the install went well. Use the most expensive caulking you can find; it's an excellent investment. If I were faced with the same remodel challenges again, I would choose precisely this line and model.

More expensive does not mean better!

So Disappointed. The pan is very nice which is the only reason it got 2 stars. The walls however, are flimsy pieces of plastic, so floppy it is hard to even get them on the wall. If the plumber had not already installed the pan I would have returned this. I have had 3 other shower inserts installed throughout the other homes I have owned and never had one with walls so flimsy I had to attach plywood to the studs so if you leaned on the wall while taking a shower you would not bend the plastic.

Do not buy this Dreamline Shower DL-6192

In my opinion, Sub par! I would NOT ORDER THIS UNIT! I ordered DL-6192 60" x 36" shower. The side walls on the 36"deep unit are the same walls they use on the 30" Deep showers. PROBLEM = the use of the same 30"deep side wall on the 36"deep pan means the Pattern will not be centered like it is on the 30" deep pan. The shower components and pattern as shown WILL NOT line up in the center of the wall pattern! When I called to see if they had shipped the wrong side walls the answer I received from Andy at Dreamline was: "They make the same sidewall for both models so the 36"deep side wall will not be centered as it is on the 30"deep pan. He went on to further explain that since this is considered a low cost alternative to tile, they only make one size sidewall". SOL??? If $789.99 is considered in Andy's opinion a low cost alternative to tile, my answer to him is I could have tiled my shower for much less!!!!! My personal recommendation would be; DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM AND SEE HOW MUCH TILE WOULD BE AT YOUR LOCAL DIY STORE! Nobody wants a shower that is OFF CENTER!!! In my opinion It is way too expensive for what we received!!! If they were to add several inches to the inside corner then they could make only one size sidewall that could be cut and centered for both models, however they have decided to ship only one size that is made for the 30" model on center.

A Joy to Work With

As a 74 year old with medium construction skills, I tore out an old bath tub and surround, repaired water damage and installed the DL-6189 SlimLine Shower package. With the exception of having a plumber make the necessary connections to the drain to the shower base, I did all of the work. The DL-6189 was easy to cut to fit with merely a utility blade and straight edge. Assembling the panels was easy - I made sure to over glue and not follow the recommended "S" adhesive pattern provided by the manufacturer. I found the package a joy to work with.

This was much more difficult than we expected. We hired a contractor to finish it and he struggled. If I could do over, I would put the money towards tile. You have to do all the steps you would to tile. We had to buy vinyl trim for the edges because the trim that came with it was very narrow peel and press plastic. Be aware that you have a very short time to return this so open it and make sure every thing is there right away.

1 Star

The quality of this product is horrible. Unfortunately, we had already installed the shower base by the time we got all the wall pieces out and inspected so cannot return the unit. The walls are incredibly flimsy and the strips used to hide the connection points don't blend in whatsoever as pictured. Really disappointed in this product and even more-so because we can't return it. We were also going to purchase one of DreamLine's black framed shower doors but now know not to trust the quality at this point moving forward.

It's taken me a week to be satisfied with this shower. The picture is very misleading on how this unit actually will look once installed. The shower pan has a lip surrounding the very top and after you install the panels you have to place them over the lip on the shower pan. Therefore the panels will not be flush to the wall on the bottom where they meet the shower pan. There will be a gap where the panels meet the pan and go over the lip. It is a very shoddy look and not pictured like that at all. The only way I could "fix" this was to add 1" thick trim molding encasing the entire shower. It covered the problem and made it look more finished, but with out this it looked really cheap. Also, the plastic walls are really glossy. Seems like I paid a lot of money for what I got.

The fastening of the product in the corners seems weak... Its a plastic drywall fastener for hanging small pictures which is easy to strip it compresses a metal channel against the panels. The directions are not very clear as far as putting adhesive on the panels... Three of us reviewed the instructions and it seemed like adhesive was to be applied to the center only not outside the decorative portion of the panel.

Very happy with this shower

This is a beautiful shower! I've had it installed for about one week now and have no complaints whatsoever. I would definitely recommend installation by a professional, There are a lot of parts and it would be risky to have someone install it that isn't sure of what they are doing. Also, if you are a larger person or have a larger person in your household, I'd recommend going up to the larger size, but, all in all, this is a great shower and looks very nice. I took out a three sided shower and removed the extra wall, replaced it with this shower, and it really opened up space in my bathroom. Very pleased.

SLIMLINE SHOWER BASE & WALL SURROUNDS

The shower base is good quality & both plumbers I contacted were impressed with the underneath supports. Shower base did NOT come with a drain which was not mentioned either by the manufacturer or the seller - would have been nice not to have had to make an extra trip to get one. Shower surround walls are very thin & came damaged. Store associates were very accommodating and ordered replacement walls with an ETA of 12-days. Installation manual advises to use caulk and sealant, but does not advise what type or what brand will maintain the warranty. I spoke with manufacturer tech support who clarified which types and which brands to use for installation.
