Air Conditioner Single Bracket Support
Difficult to install. Could not fit structure. Was not sturdy.
Mod’s Needed
Frost King should be embarrassed. Lame parts for assembly.
Product is timely and serving purpose, operating as intended.
Not for every window as unit
The product is well made and is packed very nicely. Instructions could be more clear. I was not able to use it though because the cross bar interfered with where the ac unit sits.
It does the job, but not well.
I have two of these but I returned this third one I bought in favor of the semi-permanent mount. This one just doesn't seem to fit my windows or the a/c's well. Scratches my sills and frames and needs many pieces of foam to seal up the gaps/spaces.
Poorly Designed if truly “Universal”
Seems like it will fit any window
It works
The bracket is functional, so I can’t complain. It took a little time to figure out how to put it together, but it wasn’t too difficult. It’s definitely made of cheap plastic materials and the rubber feet do fall off easily.
Either this is missing parts or the instructions are wrong. Terrible.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, IT DOES NOT WORK
First I bought one in store and someone had taken out parts. I returned that and decided to order online. I received it quick and all parts were in the box, but it still does not stay together. They give flimsy looking tabs when a screw should be used. Other parts do not stay in place and there is no real way to secure them. The things that are put on to protect your window and outside won't stay on either. And the directions are not very clear either. JUST DO NOT BUY!!
I hate it.
Dont waste your money. I got this thing durring a heat wave and our landlord wouldn't let us drill holes in our old aluminum window frame when we got window unit AC. We couldn't afford a portable AC and the cost of this bar and a window unit was still cheaper anyways. From the get go, the instructions dont make sense. It took a minute to assemble and install. Once it was in, it was not sturdy or secure at all. I went ahead and drilled a screw into the exterior of the house just to keep the lef from slipping. Once it was in, the AC did not feel safe or fit with the bar at all. There are 2 huge gaps and all along the bottom of the AC that we just tried to fill with sponges.
Stay away
Very poor quality, avoid this product.
Definitely extends to 36"
As others have said instructions a little annoying, but perfectly comprehensible if you've worked with a bracket before. It absolutely does go out to 36" and maybe a little beyond, but the labeling on the arms that extend is incorrect, likely leading to a lot of the frustration. The rubber pads slip off at a drop of the hat which is why the 1 star reduction. I don't mind because I'm in a brick building, but if I had siding or stucco I would have to figure out a replacement for the one that dropped into my neighbor's hedges.
Worst purchase ever!
It came missing multiple parts. It is unusable and I am returning it.
Not, entirely, "universal"
The support brackets worked in two of the three windows for which they were intended. In the one window that did not work out, it was less the fault of the design and more the fault of our window frame. The interior bracing of the support needs to rest on an, interior, window sill. On the window that failed, the interior sill is flush with the window frame. Due to this, the main crossmember had nothing to seat on and was unstable. Ultimately, we used the support bracket in another window that was compatible. In the other two windows the support brackets worked perfectly and are very level, strong and stable.
Negative stars
Parts are not compatible with each other. Water of time.
Extremely dangerous
This product rests your 70+ pound air conditioner on less than a 2" wide very slick rail running down the middle from front to back. The "block" that is meant to keep the A/C from sliding too far out is not adjustable at all and is held in place by a thin plastic plug as is the front brace, plus a 1/4" piece of aluminum about 2" long. That's it. It raises it up from the window sill so there is no full-width contact at the bottom. The rubber feet slip off easier than they are to put on making the entire assembly slide and damage walls. If you don't have plenty of help, the A/C will slide right off the side and crash to the ground below before you get the window down to brace the top front. Even once it is braced at the top, sitting on a rail causes torque on your window. The next high-wind day and your window is likely to shatter. The directions are very unclear with photographs that are so dark you can't see what it what or what direction up the part should be.
poorly made
The review title said it all. Its a good idea, but poorly made. While you can make it work, much better options are available. Like one reviewer said about not getting 36" across the width is true. 35" tops. all the rubber parts fall off constantly, even the plastic pins that hold the thing together fall apart.
missing parts, opened boxes
ordered 2. both came with opened boxes, one with silver duct tape holding the box together. both delivered with missing pieces. dont buy.
Where's the Parts
When I got home to open the box, there were no bolts, spring, black parts on ends. For the money, its junk.
Claptrap piece of equipment
All the other one star reviews are accurate. I ordered this for in-store pickup, got it home and 30% of the metal pieces were missing from the box. Exchanged it in store (after opening the box in-store to ensure I had a complete set) and got it home. The instructions and markings indicate it opens to fit a 36" window, but the tabs only expand to 35". I ended up cutting additional slots with an angle grinder to expand it to the full 36" we needed for our window. The rubber pads are junk, they are a VERY light pressure fit and come off at the slightest touch. The whole thing fits together pretty loosely - once the weight of the ac unit is on it, the pressure holds everything in place, but the thing fell apart and out the window twice while I was trying to get everything adjusted. It also didn't adjust to a standard 2x4" exterior wall, I needed to put a piece of 2x4 as a spacer under the leg on the outside of the house to keep the ac unit close to level. Would work better on a much thicker wall. The price point is attractive, but I was quickly second guessing that as I was running downstairs to retrieve pieces that had fallen apart and out of the second story window for the third or fourth time while trying to get it into place. After all that, I still needed to cut a square hole in a trash bag and tape that around the ac unit to the window to seal the large gaps that are left with having the ac unit on the support instead of directly on the window frame.
