USBC connection is great. Face plate connection to the outlet is a poor deign. Looks sleek. Regular use in the kitchen often leaves the face plate dangling on a cord.

While I label my chargers and keep them organized neatly in my office, my other half and daughter are constantly on the hunt for their cords and charging blocks. I’m hoping these outlets will make their daily search easier. This model (R1815D60AAC-WH) is made for 15A circuits and provides a total of 25 Watts of USB charging at 5V. There are two Type A USB ports (one is 2.7 Amps and one is 3.3 Amps) and one Type C port (not sure what it’s for since you’re not supposed to plug in a computer). Due to the higher amperage of the USB ports, my iPhone charges much quicker than it does with the 5V, 1Amp charging block that came with my phone.

Perhaps in the future outlets with USB ports and transformers built in will be almost a standard. I’m still making sure that I have enough options to make recharging convenient. This outlet/USB port combo is a good way to make that happen. I should start by saying that this is one of a dozen configurations that the company offers. The others are shown on the back of the installation instructions (see photo). Upon inspection, it appears to be solidly made. Devices like this do take up a good bit of room in standard, full-depth electrical boxes because of the built-in transformer/charging units. The side screw attachments for wires that don’t require wire looping but provide screw contact and tension are a nice touch. They make attaching two wires at each screw simple. The screwless covers also provide a modern look along with the Decora-style rectangular shape of the unit. It took about 10 minutes to turn off the circuit breaker and replace the old standard dual receptacle outlet in a single gang box. It might take a bit longer for receptacles at floor level.

These are very handy and a snap to replace existing receptacles. It has x2 usb and x1 usb-c ports that allows you to charge multiple devices in one spot without all the charging blocks and still have two open receptacles to use for whatever you need. Ive installed two of these on the back wall of my kitchen counter and they have been great. Now days everybody has at least one device that needs charging. So if you have family and friends over, they are going to the kitchen, they have a convenient place to plug in.

Updating the house with new stuff is always fun, even if it's something as mundane as new electrical outlets. The Elegrp brand of electrical devices is impressive for its quality and innovation. The bedrooms, especially, will benefit from these outlets with the USB ports, both Type A and Type C, packaged neatly in the same physical size as a normal square-type outlet. Love it!
