Not Overwhelmed on any level
I bought this sight unseen , so thats on me. It is very limited andnot at all advenced in terms of cycle options. There is no option for a silverware rack and the utensil basket is too small for most larger utensils and really nonfunctioning if you leave the slotted lids in place. But the real flaw in design is the bottom Rack. It is so poorly configured that you can barely fit dishes, utensils etc. to accomodate a dinner for 3 or4 max! the door itself is lightweight and shows every fingerprint. This was not an inexpensive purchase in fact it had to be special ordered! I am so disappointed and so not impressed with GE"s standard of quality.
Very few options and doesn't dry dishes at all
We've owned this dishwasher for about 2 months now. From day one, the dishes are soaking wet. The inside of the cabinets, door and racks are covered in water. I have looked in the manual and all over the machine for a vent that might be obstructed and can't find anything. Finally called into GE today and couldn't even get an answer as to whether this machine even HAS drying functionality. They just wanted to schedule a service call which I'm sure would result in "operating as intended" and I'll be on the hook for the bill. All they could tell me was to regurgitate the owners manual troubleshooting steps under "dishes don't dry" which states "Door not opened immediately after Clean light came on" "For proper drying, the dishwasher door must be opened
Thanks for getting us in trouble
I was told by my landlord at Silas Oaks Apartment in Live Oak Florida that this is a new dishwasher because the one I had before it leaked all over the floor and filled with water. They installed it in 2021 it did the same exact thing as the last Appliance with the same brand name flooded my floor Non-Stop filled with 30 stinky water and would not drain or clean the dishes whatsoever. So I've had the breaker turned off for a couple years because it's pointless to try to use it and the landlord won't replace it. So I'm glad there's these bad reviews so the tenants don't get blamed for breaking things. Piece of crap all together
Not the best, just adequate
Cons: open the unit to look inside before it is installed. Ours was dented on the inside. Install was a complete waste of time. You have to open this dishwasher after the cycle runs, otherwise the dishes will not dry. Who thought that was a good idea? Who’s going to be able to do that all the time? Smaller on the inside than the ADA model it replaced. Tines too close together. Hard to figure out how to start it.
Don’t waste your money on this useless junk
If I could give this zero stars I would. From the moment it was installed, it didn’t work right. It left a gross chalky film on my dishes from day one. Seeing as it was a new expensive unit, I assumed the issue was with my plumbing. I tried everything to fix the issue: liquid plumber in my pipes, hiring a plumber to come adjust the drain pipes thinking I had a kinked hose (I did not), jet dry, running on the hottest temperature I could. Hand washing was getting my dishes cleaner. Eventually after less than 2 years of owning the unit, it started leaking water out of the front door along the bottom. Paid a handyman $100 to fix the gasket seal and no dice. Finally bit the bullet and decided to replace it. Bought a cheaper unit: a Frigidaire that was less than half the retail price of the first unit and guess what? Works perfectly. No chalky residue on my dishes. Don’t waste your money on this useless piece of junk.
Washes dishes well but thats it.
Cleans dishes well but thats about it. Door panel is very flimsy and hollow. Dishwasher is quite noisy (you can hear it from our master which is above the kitchen). Those two critics we can live with, however the lay out/design of the interior is ridiculous. Good luck having more than four people over for dinner as it really can’t fit more than that many place settings. The cutlery holder is also in a unintuitive position that impedes how many large pots and pans you can wash.
Bottom rack worthless
The mechanical operation of this dishwasher is fine. However, the bottom rack design makes it impossible to wash pans, larger bowls or anything that isn't a thin plate unless that's the only thing being washed on that rack. It is obvious that the designer never loaded a dishwasher. This issue was not apparent just by looking at it. GE should redesign the bottom rack and offer it to owners of this dishwasher free of charge.
Worst Design Ever - Don't Purchase
This is the most poorly designed dishwasher I have ever used. The Bottom rack is basically useless. You can put 5 plates to the left of the silverware rack and that's it. The entire back row is poorly designed and full size plates do not stay in the slots. The Silverware caddy has extremely small holes so most silverware doesn't fit in the holes and it's directly in front of the soap dispenser, so there is always soap left in the cup. JUNK
Works great, no heated drying feature though.
So far so great! I have had for 3 weeks and have used everyday. The dishes always come out sparkling clean, it does not have a drying feature, instead it has “condensate dry”. So sometimes they are still wet but I have found if you leave them in there overnight they will be dry in the morning. It is a lot quieter than the Whirpool I had from 2008. I like that it has a timer so you know when it will be done, This is a “smaller size” only by a few inches, but I am still able to get all my dishes in there like I used to with a “normal size”.
Very few Pros; multiple Cons
This DW was a hurried choice b/c my 1st choice was too tall due to the addition of a tile floor in my kitchen - so immediate need for 32" height. My bad - I rushed & didn't do my research...altho what bothers me may not have come up then. Comparison to an 18 yr old Frigidaire DW.
Not even close to what I was expecting.
super small, does not dry dishes at all. Did not understand there were so many choices with dishwashers. This one is clearly the lowest of the low. Plastic cups get flipped over. Simple interface actually made it very difficult to use. When done washing, there is still suds in the bottom of the dishwasher, Additionally, when things dry, there is soap scum on them. If I could return it, I would. May never buy another GE Appliance ever with as bad as this is. This was a Sears Home Warranty replacement and does not even have close to the feature I had in the original dishwasher!
Not bad but room to improve interior layout
It works! Functionally cleans well, sound fine, ease of use is fine. It is a good find for fit due to a low ADA counter. Smaller interior space than the one it replaced—how is that possible? Rack height does not allow for tall glasses or wine glasses. Needs more silverware space. Odd rack arrangement without ability to reconfigure any parts. Has room for user-led design improvements.
Very Basic Dishwasher-No Frills
Due to our old kitchen cabinets, we had to purchase an ADA Compliant dishwasher. There aren't very many out there, very limited. We decided on this GE as it was the only one we could get before January. Pros: 1) It cleans well. Cons: 1) Does not have a heating element to dry. We set the timer for the end of the cycle, 48 minutes for light wash and then open the door slightly and hang a dish towel over the door to absorb the water. If we don't do this, anything plastic is dripping wet. 2) Does not have a rinse cycle. Again, we set the timer for 8 minutes and then turn the machine off-it drains the water out and they are rinsed. 3) Does not have a third rack. 4) Does not have fingerprint resistant stainless steel on the panel. Therefore, fingerprints every time it is used. 5) Old machine used to have a front panel display, this is top panel. Hard to see when done unless a timer is set. But it does clean well. We went without a dishwasher for 3 months, so I guess anything is better than nothing!
Meh
Two stars cause it was only $300 and I've never owned a dishwasher before. You get what you pay for. In just under three years the timer seemed to be getting stuck in cycle. Cleaned the knob and still got stuck. Shortly afterwords it stopped filling and smelled like something was burning. My neighbor repairs appliances (40yrs) and has fixed my fridge, washer, and dryer for free. He said he doesn't like to work on GE (whaaa??) and gave me a number. I called the GE guy and told him my problem. He laughed and said they don't make that model like they used to and said I was better off buying a Whirlpool/Maytag than paying for repairs. Was considering replacing the water inlet valve myself ($30?) to see what happens. However, I'm having a tough time finding the part. Super bummed, but hey it was $300 right?
Never again
To start from what I understand this dishwasher has been discontinued which is a good thing. We bought this dishwasher during the pandemic when dishwashers were difficult to come by. This dishwasher will be three years old next month the bottom rack coating has worn off in places which leaves rust marks on your dishes. To clean the filter In this dishwasher you must take the washer arm and the cage off. I have done this before successfully with a YouTube video which warned you that the plastic piece you have to unclip from the washer arm is very delicate, this is true as I broke this little plastic clip off the last time I was cleaning the filter. The price to fix it is twice the price of the dishwasher. GE used to make quality products but no longer. But never buy another GE product.
HORRIBLE PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!
This dishwasher is an absolute waste of hard earned money! Silverware basket is not secured at all, it just floats around. Capacity is embarrassing, this unit is 3-4" shorter than the GE unit I replaced it with and it really shows with the lack of interior space. The drawer wheels remind me of matchbox cars, no track for them to roll in and cheap as possible. And really loud, so much more than my last unit. And NO HEATED DRY!!!! Rince aid or not the dishes are soaking wet when the cycle is complete!! I have a family of 5 and run this every night. At this point I wish I would have put the $800 I paid for this junk unit into repairing my previous dishwasher. Please look at other options and don't get stuck with this useless dishwasher!!
Garbage
I've hated it from the get-go. The interior design is awkward, with the prongs pointing in odd angles. The silverware racks are awkward, too, and take up about 20% of the bottom rack. The racks have huge gaping spaces in between the brackets, so smallwares fall thru. The soap dispenser doesn't work. After a full 3 hour cycle, I open the door to see the soap either not dispensed at all, or the dispenser door will be open and raw soap is running down into the basin, totally untouched by any wash cycle. And...no dry cycle. Now, only two weeks after purchase, the inner door seal is completely coming off the left side. Consequently, water is draining out onto my floor. I am livid at the total lack of quality, poor design and general shoddiness of this not-cheap, name brand appliance.
Poorly designed
I am extremely disappointed by the design of this dishwasher, but didn't have a choice as it's the only one that fits in my condo (there's a pipe behind it and other makes/models won't fit over it). The utensil basket is a joke. It doesn't stay put unless you put it over some of the prongs that are meant to hold dishes. None of my utensils will fit in the cover, other than in the four largest slots, that's supposed to keep utensils separated. Glasses keep falling down in the top section. Not sure what the slanted prongs are supposed to hold because I can't find anything that fits in them without falling over. Dishes don't dry if they're on the top rack (had to hand dry everything) and only some of them on the bottom rack dried. GE used to be my favorite appliance brand, but no more. Quality has gone extremely downhill. My last GE dishwasher lasted just long enough for the warranty to expire. The fuse had gone. The repairman told me the fuse was now integrated into a part that would cost at least $500 to replace, with installation. I will NEVER purchase another GE appliance!
Washes well, but has odd and lacking features
My landlord needed to replace our Frigidaire dishwasher after the motor died, and went with whatever the appliance guys recommended to fit in the space. Unfortunately, I've been disappointed with this replacement.
I wont ever buy another GE product
It arrived dented but we didn’t notice in the required amount of time, so the place we purchased or the manufacturer would help. I have an $. 800 dishwasher that is brand new but dented and looks like crap.
