Defective Burner

Bought this unit as a clearance item being used as a display model so I was able to save some money. The center burner is defective in the sense that it is drilled out too deep making it impossible to replace one of the nozzles when converting from NG to LPG. Samsung acknowledged it and agreed to send out a new center burner. They sent me the wrong part even though they asked for pictures. When I tried to get them to send the correct part, they refused and referred me back to Lowe's for an extended warranty. The parts for this cooktop are expensive so any savings I made during the purchase will bill gone by having to buy replacement parts. Not a happy camper. Shame on you Samsung. You just lost a customer.

Horrible cooktop

I have had this cooktop for 4 years, and regardless of the cost I am going to replace it. The heat is uneven. It is terrible to clean. The grates are heavy, the stainless steel is miserable to clean. The gas burners fall off. The control knobs are miserable to clean too. I am so disappointed with it.

Defective front panel finish

I bought this roughly 20 months ago and had an awesome experience except that the front panel that houses the knobs has an issue. I have followed the care and cleaning instructions through out but around 3 months back, the front panel started showing white spots that won’t clean. The surface is smooth with no scratches and there is no abrasion that fingers can feel. The spotty area is as smooth as the surrounding non spotty panel so can’t figure out what is it. Samsung technician came and could not explain but said it is a cosmetic issue so we cannot do anything … very disappointed

At three years the knobs began to crack and I noticed the openings beneath the knobs were collecting dirt and grease. The next year all 5 knobs were cracked and three were getting harder to turn. Finally one of the burners got stuck on. This was 5pm on a Friday and Samsung was unresponsive. I had to turn off the gas from the main valve in the basement. When a reputable local repairman came out he was shocked at the poor quality. The knobs were almost $200 apiece but they would just break again. He couldn’t fix the stem under 2 of the knobs which were stuck. Samsung makes nice TVs but I will steer clear of their appliances.

Knobs will break due to heat stress. $1,000 to rep

As noted in another review, the knobs become too hot with extended use. This causes the failure of the plastic knob stem which attaches to the control. They eventually shatter due to heat stress, between one and four years, depending on use. All five of mine have broken. That wouldn't normally be worth a one-star rating, but they want almost $200 per/knob to replace. That's a thousand dollars. For knob stems.
