This is a good air conditioner. I like the looks of it. Trouble-free functionality and does the job it was designed to do. It is quite heavy - I needed my handyman to carry it upstairs. It was a breeze to set up, and cooled off the very hot, & humid upstairs bedroom in our NC waterfront vacation home (after the central AC went out). The window insert was easy to trim with a hacksaw. The insert is also simple to remove from the window when necessary, and the wheels facility easy movement. It is rated for 450 sf, which makes sense because it is too large and too loud for sleeping in a smaller bedroom - for me, which is personal preference, and does not detract from the unit. It is very responsive and worked well. I recommend it.

Cannot use if air temp 95 degrees

Easy enough to install EXCEPT the hose broke from its' fitting immediately Fixed with duct tape. The window fitting has to be CUT with tin snips to fit an ordinary window and it does not fit securely. Edges sealed with duct tape. AND the thing is LOUD AND oh guess what Buried int he manual it cannot be used if the temperature is over 95 degrees!! I am glad to have it but wish I had known or bought another...

[Rewarded Review] Powerful little portable a/c!

Upon receiving this unit, I noticed that the plastic ring that fits around the vent hose was cracked. We were able to fix with gorilla tape. Installation was simple with the included window plate for venting. Today the temp was 99 degrees and I stayed nice and cool with my new Amana portable air conditioner. It cooled my whole living room! The noise level is not as high as the window unit we had been using previously. I feel like it will use less energy than our central air conditioner. Love the remote control with timer, so handy! I like that the unit is on wheels so that we don’t have to lug a 60 lb. unit from room to room.

At first, I did not love this, but after about two summers, I’ve grown to really appreciate it. It definitely cools off our 120 square foot room nicely. I cannot speak for a larger room. I like how I don’t need to have it in the window constantly, as it’s easy to put in, and it does not look ugly in the window.

This worked well in our living room as an extra source of AC for days over 100 degrees, but it isn’t powerful enough to cool more than a single room. The only thing we didn’t like about this is that the hose was not secured and would detach SUPER easily if you shifted or rolled the unit even a little bit. If this is going to be totally stationary in a bedroom it would probably work great.

Not recommended AC

I have had constant problems with this AC. When it is running it cannot cool a very small 200 sq ft room. The rear filters get constantly covered in dust and are very hard to get out. Plus there is no red light alerting you to the filters being clogged.

Stopped Working

This product stopped working after 1 summer. I have been trying to contact Whirlpool and Amana because it was under warrenty but have not been able to talk to anyone who can give me answers or support.

Great air conditioner and works just great keeping us cool so we can higher the central air to save money. These air conditioners do save on your electric bill, I think its due to it not keep shutting off and on like the central air and doesn't pull on the electric as well. I'm glad that I purchased this item.

Pretty good little AC. I was a little concerned because it’s only 6500 btus. We shall see how well it does when it’s really hot out. I was a little disappointed that there is no drainage hose included or a spot to feed the hose thru the window slot. Now I have a hose draining into a laundry basket for the dehumidifier mode. Other then that it seems to work great as a little AC. Next time I think I will research more and get a bigger unit.
