Great versatile unit!

I purchased this to install in a 3200 square foot basement meeting hall. I really appreciate the versatility of the Aprilaire E100, after recently purchasing and installing a SantaFe Compact 70 unit in my home. The control panel of the E100 can easily be moved from the top to the side, and low voltage terminals are ready for use to connect to an external humidistat and/or HVAC system. Ducting collars are included and you have the option of top or rear supply (exhaust). The instruction manual is well written, and the support I received from Aprilaire tech was outstanding (as well as Sylvane!). Configuration options through the control panel are very adequate, and connecting this to an existing HVAC system was a breeze. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Wow - made a huge difference! I am a homeowner who is very good at figuring things out, not a HVAC installer. My grown-daughter and her family have a two-story center-hall home that was running 80%+ humidity most of our hot summer in the Southeast US. I researched how to solve this problem, choose the Aprilaire E100 and Sylvane to deliver it, and then did the install myself. The humidity in their house is now running at +/- 45 - 50% and the house feels great. As expected, the Aprilaire drain line has a consistent water flow to the outside from the condensate.

Santa Fe Dehumidifier was a bust, trying Aprilaire ...

I switched out a Santa Fe dehumidifier unit that just had a lot of problems. The Santa Fe was an Advance 90 unit with a ton of internet features - it worked well for about two years and then became extremely unreliable - lots of problems with the internet features. Then the humidistat on the unit drifted and was about twenty points off --- didn't help replacing the sensor. Finally, the whole thing blew up and the warranty had expired so I got about five years out of it. The Aprilaire is much simpler, has digital controls, no internet features, and is more energy efficient. The warranty is shorter but bumper to bumper, The whole thing is whether or not this unit will give years of good service.... tbd.

Great product, easy setup. I highly recommend this unit..Customer service was great. Ordered this same unit twice from Sylvane. Each time they were delivered via FedEx they were damaged and had to be returned. Both units were sitting upside down jammed in the truck and dented.

Dealing with a moldy basement is a big problem.

Dealing with a moldy basement is problematic on many levels. Not only is it unhealthy it was also preventing my son and daughter-in-law from bring my 6 month old granddaughter over to visit. This was an unacceptable situation and needed to be alleviated. After having the mold remediated, I did my homework and found the Aprilaire E100 to be exactly what was needed to dehumidify our basement to prevent the mold from returning. After calling Aprilaire to discuss what was needed I decided to order the unit from Sylvane. Sylvane's customer service was excellent as I was able to schedule the deliver of the dehumidifier to coincide with the completion of the mold removal work.

Hoping This Unit Works Properly But Not Yet Favorably Impres

I cannot yet say if it dehumidifies or not, since it is still late winter and the air is still dry. It does "sample" the relative humidity each hour and indicate that number. However, its indicated RH disagrees by several percentage points with two independent RH measuring devices nearby. I have adjusted its "offset" to its limit, which improves but does not fully correct the measurement issue. So I am not yet very favorably impressed with this rather expensive unit. #sweepstakes

Dehumidifies my unfinished basement. It replaces a sante fe that died out side of warranty. Hope it lasts better. I especially like that it looks easier to open a side panel to service.

I recently installed this dehumidifier in my encapsulated crawl space. It is a very well constructed dehumidifier. It hasn't had to run for long due to the low humidity during this time of year but summer is around the corner. Time will tell..
