Love it! This unit replaced a HiSense that had failed and been replaced several times. So far it's working perfectly, cools the room quickly, has a better energy rating than the one I replaced, and doesn't fill up with condensation like my previous unit. I'd suggest adding the Continuous feature to the remote and to the memory, and adding the swing setting to the remote, but these are minor inconveniences that don't detract from the unit's performance.

Dirt/debris from outside air impossible to clean

My rating would be 5 star except for the terrible design where any dirt/debris from the outside air mixes with water removed from the inside air, badly fouls the condenser, and renders the unit inoperable. Mine ran well for about 6 months. I was not using in an unusually dirty area. Even after removing the housing, you can’t fully access and clean the wet crud from all the places where it accumulates. This unit should have been designed with a filter on the intake for outside air.

Best smart, portable ac and heater overall!!

Was looking for a smart, dual hose, portable ac with heater combo and whynter is the only brand with everything I need and at the same time it performs exceptionally well. Thoroughly impressed by the performance. Takes only a few mins to cool the room and the app works great and makes our life so easy. Have used it when my AC went out and works great.

Super quiet and puts out a lot of cold air. As other have mentioned, it works best if you set a fan in front of it to push to air through the room better. I use it to cool my complete basement. I haven’t used the heat function yet but it will probably be put to test in a few weeks.

Nice AC unit

The central AC for my house broke this summer and I needed a portable unit ASAP. I have bought an Whynter AC unit in the past because it was highly rated by Consumer Reports so I decided to buy this larger unit.

Didn’t cool at all. Attempted to call customer service and they were in some far off foreign country and could speak no English.

Does a decent job at cooling the room. Is fairly quiet but rattles loudly for long periods of time.

Was fairly easy to set up. Worked well during the hot spell. It meets the needs we expected it to. We have only had it a month.

Recent purchase so I can’t yet comment on long-term reliability but so far it’s been a great unit. I bought this because of great online reviews and personal experience using a borrowed Whynter along with several other brands earlier this summer in a house in Houston. The dual vents design really decreases heat output from the vent which is an important consideration. Also, the window venting apparatus setup is very easy. We have a big bedroom with high ceilings and lower BTU units weren’t strong enough. Very happy so far.

Very nice if you need extra cooling!

I haven't used the machine in anything except Cooling and fan mode. But those modes work great! On hot summer nights of Texas my bedroom stays 5 degrees cooler than the other rooms in the house. I call that a win!

We purchased the ARC-1230 as a supplemental Air Conditioner for the bedroom of our Florida home. With temperatures steadily around 100 degrees and intense humidity, our home AC couldn’t provide enough cooling power for a comfortable night sleep. We had tried a couple other similar AC units from other companies before but they were unable to accommodate our large room with high ceilings. Looks like the 3rd time is the Charm! This unit has no trouble cooling down our room and keeping it a constant 70 degrees all night. It came with everything needed to install the window vent. I especially like the dual, combined airflow feature of this vent. Overall I am pleased with this units performance and functionality. Highly recommend!
