First mailbox I ordered arrived damaged. Not wrapped in any bubble wrap, so it was easy to dent. Got a replacement. Very large and can hold a lot. Would prefer the door was inset into the mailbox vs on the exterior. It's off center a fraction causing it to stick and scrap the paint when I open and close it.

the mailbox itself is perfectly lovely, it is a repeat purchase for us because we love it. however, you MUST unbox and inspect before purchasing/keeping because they are not boxed to endure the shipping/shelving process. always slight bends to corners or side crimps in the sheet metal. that stinks!

Good looking junk. This mailbox is poorly designed and assembled. I installed it last week and two days later part of the door came loose because the screws are stripped out, the flange that holds the door is now bending because it isn't strong enough, AND the magnet that holds the door shut has shattered into three pieces. This one is going back to the store.

This review is for the Hillsborough Post Mount Mailbox Copper, $69.97. This mailbox is no ordinary mail box. First, it is large: it measures (in round numbers, exterior dimensions) 11 inches high, 9 ½ inches wide, and a little over 21 inches deep. Its interior volume can hold a great deal of mail, more than I have ever received at one time. Its size also will accept small parcels such as the ones I do receive from mail order websites. Second, it is sturdy; built with high grade steel. It weighs about 10 pounds so this is no thin tinny box. Third, it will not rust as many a cheaper mailbox will do. Its powder coated finish is extra-ordinary for a mailbox and I would think capable of lasting a long time in all types of climates. I can’t imagine this mailbox being affected by heat, cold, rain, or snow. Once installed it should last a very long time. Fourth, it comes with pre-drilled mounting holes for 5/16" bolts for secure fastening to a pole. Finally, it looks great. The powder coated cooper finish gives this mailbox a depth of color that mere paint cannot achieve. Several other features add to this mailbox’s value. Unlike most other mailboxes that have a flimsy plastic flag that is prone to bending and breaking, this unit sports a solid, silver colored, metal one. I suspect it will last as long as the mailbox will last. I discovered that red is not a requirement but if one wants to stay traditional, I would think it could be painted. A very practical and very functional feature is the door latch. It is magnetic. At the top of the box is a strong magnetic. Just flip the door up and it stays up. And it will not fall open so rain will not get into the box. Of course, the mail carrier still has to remember to do the flipping and he or she should find it easy to do – no ugly nor finger pinching latch to get in the way. A word about installation – the pre-drilled holes and complete directions made it easy. I recommend this mailbox to all.
