2 of 3 tubs delivered had major speckling on the front. And one was delivered with a huge crack in the floor.

Disappointed in this tub - dimpling

I purchased this tub TWICE. Twice, it arrived with "DIMPLES". I called KOHLER directly and was told that this is "what can happen on the vertical walls of cast iron tubs". This should be clearly stated in the description of this product. Don't bother.

Bellwether Cast Iron Tub

I have high expectations for Kohler - generally I look to Kohler to provide a better quality products that other brands; but I'm disappointed with this tub.

mrs

This tub arrived in just three days, and was undamaged in transit. The size was just what I was hoping for - deep but narrow - and my first thought was "This is a great looking tub! Good choice, me!" However, upon closer inspection I was disappointed to note that the non-slip areas on the bottom of the tub were simply ground out of the glaze finish. This means the bottom surface of the tub is largely porous. I imagine this surface would be difficult to keep unstained and sanitary over the life of the product. I then noticed that the grid was wavy and unevenly ground in several places, and that was the tipping point for me. For $1200+ Kohler should ensure sure the lines are straight.

This tub is nice a wide all the way down...

This tub is nice a wide all the way down to the bottom for us larger people. It is also a bit taller than the rest so if you need to be able to step high up to get in, so nice depth too. The plumber says he installs lots of these so they are well liked. Be aware that you have to buy a special runoff drainage pipe for this one.

This is the second unit we purchased, the first one...

This is the second unit we purchased, the first one was damaged during installation when pushing it into place. The force was not that great, but the side panel cracked. When this unit was replaced, a corner also broke off. Overall, while we like the size and design, the quality of construction is lacking, which makes us uneasy after it is installed that it may be easily damaged and cause a costly replacement.

Air bubbles

Upon install we noticed small divets on the bottom of the tub. Then we noticed there were air bubbles in the finish. All good, fixable right? Well…I’ve called kohler customer care for days now in order to get a match porcelain to make the bottom more presentable, and “they’re busy” no way to leave a message “just call back.”

Made to last

The tub is wonderful and will last my lifetime, for sure! It has a non-slip bottom that has eliminated my need for a mat. A strong factor in selection was its dimensions. It's not extremely wide but fits me very nicely nicely and has a comfortable slant at the back. The reason for removing one star may be one of its assets since it's cast iron, but it weighs 400 lbs. and required 4 men struggling to get it up four steps into my home. I think it would be extremely difficult to maneuver it into an upstairs bathroom unless mechanically hauling it up from the outside of the house during construction. My project was a renovation where the walls and openings were already in place.

Stained after first test !

I just got my brand new Kohler Cadt Iron bathtub installed, and after only the first try, it came completely stained. I tried removing the orange/light brown stains with a sponge with soap but they won’t come off, especially on the non slippery part. I am so disappointed and sad!!! I spent so much money on this, now I don’t know what to do

Big cast iron tub

This cast iron tub is rock solid. I give it 4 1/2 stars build quality and price. Build.com I give 4 stars for price and speed of delivery. They initially sent the wrong tub, only 60 inch but after calling company they picked it up and shipped the new bigger tub. The white finish is nice and smooth and almost perfectly flat for cast iron! Being a former contractor a flat finish is good for a nice tile job. This tub is big time heavy, over 400 LBS. Better have 2-3 guys and hand truck to move it. Very nice tub.

Not Acrylic!

please be advised before purchasing this tub. It is a beautiful, high quality tub. A high quality cast iron tub that is.. I did not look at the specifications however, which clearly state this unit is 400lbs. I had not planned on lugging a cast iron tub to the second floor. Great tub, poor labeling by Lowes

Rejected 2 Tubs

I don't know if this is a Kohler problem or a Build.com problem, but both tubs came covered with dimples. In both cases, I asked that the tubs be checked in advance because of reviews on other sites. I expect a fairly smooth surface, especially on the outside of the tub. One of the tubs even had a nick in the enamel. Who would pay this kind of money for a bathtub that looks like an orange skin?
