This is exactly what I needed to fix my broken kitchen light. I was able to replace the chain instead of replacing the entire light fixture, which saved me hundreds of dollars.

Thread OD is 3/8"

I bought this for a chandelier with 1/2" OD threaded sections. Unfortunately this item has 3/8" OD threads! Both ends are female with removable male threaded nipples. The kit includes the chain (about 10 inches), one lock nut and washer (not two), and one black fabric sleeve to cover the wires once they are threaded through the chain - a nice touch.

Quite disappointed with this chain. I thought it would be much longer and there is nothing “kit” about it, just the chain. I’m not sure what I’m even supposed to screw the ends into. It’s pretty much useless, and it cost 20! In addition, it’s not returnable. I thought everything on Wayfair was returnable.

Arrived too late

Part was fine but took over a month to arrive. I had to order from another source to have I time for electrician to install light.

Sloped ceiling

I bought a chandelier from another retailer that said it was sloped ceiling compatible but it only came with downrods. After research I found this chain that had the proper threading and was able to make the chandelier work!

Worked just as required

This product worked well (with a separately purchased chain) to convert a pendant lamp to a swagged light, centering it over a dining table. The materials are strong and nicely finished and compatible with our fixture (different brand). My only complaints would be the price (too high for what it is) and online-only availability— this seems like a more commonly required item than many accessories carried in stores. My project had to wait 2 weeks for this piece to arrive.

We have a sloped ceiling and the pendant lights we purchased were rod only. Although we had rods of different lengths, it was impossible to hang the lights so they would all be even at the bottom. We found this kit and it solved all our problems! There is not a lot of information about how the kit works or a complete picture so I have attached 2 pictures. One shows what the entire contents of the kit looks like and the other shows how long it is. Before we ordered, we had the call the supplier to get the details. Both ends of the converter kit look the same and you can use it regardless of whether you have a male or female end(s) to connect to. The nipples on the ends unscrew. As you can see in the picture, the chain they give you is not very long. However, for our purposes, it was long enough. We had to hang 3 pendants so we had a different length of chain and pendant on each one. The kit chain was attached to the ceiling (4 links for 1st pendant, 3 links for 2nd pendant, etc) then the other end of the kit was attached to the rod. The rod length for the 1st pendant was 24", 2nd was somewhat longer, etc). We just used the amount of chain we needed to add on to the rod so we had lights level at the bottom. We liked the rods on our lights. It is possible to add chain so the whole fixture can be chain without rods but you would have to purchase the chain separately. Also, the rod is what hides the wires. The kit gives you a small about of white tubing to hide wires but if you want more chain than they give you, you will also need to buy more tubing. Once we had the kit and did a little math, the lights were easy to hang and be even at the bottom. One recommendation is that you test hang all your lights first so you can make sure you did the math right. That is what we did and found a minor math error that would have been a lot more difficult to fix if we had completely installed the first pendant THEN tried the 2nd one.
