Glass shattered spontaneously
We just moved into our new house recently and have been using the oven. Unfortunately the inside glass of the oven shattered spontaneously for unclear reasons. I have baked things up to 450F on 1 or 2 occasions (mostly bake at 350) but I have no idea if it is temperature related. This seems very unsafe and now I am at a loss on how to repair or replace this glass. The oven is less than 3 years old.
Hate it!
Since the day we got the oven, the racks both the rolling rack and the other one do not go in and out of the oven as they should. We have been working with The local dealer and have not had a lot of satisfaction. she has been working with you and told us we should put vegetable oil on the racks, they were slightly easier, however, the porcelain on the inside of the oven is now all nicked off because of the nonworking racks. My question is am I gonna have to oil the racks every time I want to use the darn thing? This is a $3000 oven and I would expect the racks to at least slide in and Out. I have been trying to deal with this for the last two months, and I am getting rather tired of it.
Great oven. Looks wonderful in my kitchen
I love the oven and all of the options. The only thing that is disappointing is I cannot get it connected with my Alexa app so I’m kind of bummed out about that great oven. Replaced the oven that I’ve had for 30 years so it has quite a bit more options. Have already used the Proof function. Anxious to try Air Fryer.
Simple and elegant
Love the wall oven. Simple interface and fun to use. I was worried the screen interface and features would be like so many other appliances trying to over design. GE has kept up with the times and allows those who don't want to spend a lot of time learning new ways to cook with new wall ovens do just that.
Nice but lacks easy instructions
Works great so far, but I wish it came with an old-fashioned paper manual. And I'd appreciate some instruction about convection - do I set normal oven time or something less? And these racks on the bottom that are attached - I haven't figured those out yet. More instructions would be helpful.
Handy Features
Pleased with all of the features. Pull-out rack is handy for larger items (hams, turkeys) and is very stable. Display is easy to read and clearly marked. Very happy to be back in the broiling business - does a good job! Glad to have the convection feature we've never had before.
Great oven!
We have used the wall oven a few times and has worked very well. The set up with wifi took more than one try but was set up. The app was initially a little confusing but also successful after a few tries. Has great features and is easy to navigate for use. Lots of cooking options. The operation of the oven is very easy after set up.
Solid, well-made
Very solid, well-made oven. We have it installed below a Cafe induction cooktop. The Bake mode seems to be very even heating and accurate regarding bake time. There is quite a bit of heat put out into the kitchen through the bottom-situated vent opening. Is this normal? My previous slide-in range/oven did not expel nearly as much heat into the room. One tip: remove any protective plastic covering the stainless steel, especially along the sides, before the oven is fully pushed into the cabinet frame opening.
Great oven!
I love my new wall oven! It is so much better than the old one. Preheating can be monitored on the panel or app, so I'm not wasting time during that period. The oven is quiet and works well for baking and proofing (I haven't tried other features... yet). I really like the top sliding rack, too, for moving big or heavy pans to the edge for removal. And it looks very nice in our wood cabinetry as well.
Quiet and efficient
Heats up quickly. Blower is very quiet compared to our last couple of wall ovens. Holds temperature. Cooks evenly. Looks good. Nice display. Do not use the smart feature as I couldn't get it to pair with my phone. Only use manual control. Owners manual would be nice to have rather than online.
Good quality but options are a little overwhelming
The quality of this microwave/convection oven is great. I am still trying to figure out how to operate some of the features and understand the difference between some of the modes. It does take a while to preheat if you have to use that option. The microwave function is straight forward and easy to figure out. I like it so far but the price is a tad high for this unit.
Digital display is easy to use and good looking.
Builder chose the Cafe line of appliances, before we purchased our band new home. After 2.5 years, the inside temper glass just shattered. Was in the process of broiling some Brussels sprouts. Turned on the broiling setting on high. The rack setting was in the middle. I broil, flake steak, Brussel sprouts, green-beans, and fresh chillies. The broil setting is one I favor. We have no small children. I am baffled as to why the temper inside glass would fail?
Great features and looks great!
Looks great in my kitchen! The oven light lights the interior to see what is baking. The slide out oven rack is great to put heavy pans in and out of the oven. Having no heating element in the bottom of the oven makes wiping out the bottom of the oven easier. I have baked cookies, chicken and a roast and all have done well. I like the display, and ability to change wall paper and the weather on the display.
Good oven
Positive: Oven looks great and professional. Me and the teenagers really like the screen and functions. Adding a second light was really a good idea. Racks are sturdy and the bottom one slide really easily, this is a great feature for heavy pots. I only used bake and roast with and without convection and both works great. Negative: Oven was larger then my old one which is fine and only add to remove shims but the main issue was the deepness. If you have the electrical box under the oven, note that there is a lip and the wire is not calculated in the dimension and sits between that lip and the wall. The result is that I add to break the sheetrock wall in order to pass the wire to have the front panel against the cabinet... Manufacturer should take note of this and allow a pass through option or recessed for the wire to go down. Other negative is the warming up time is long. I would buy it again though.
Terrible to clean
The first time I used this oven, some cooking oil splattered on the oven floor. Following the directions in the pathetic four pages of manual that came with the oven, I cleaned it first with a cloth and soap water, which was a total waste of time. Then I used a non-abrasive sponge that works well on my nonstick cookware along with Dawn soap. No improvement. This oven is replacing a 15 year old monogram oven that, in spite of my payment for 2 service calls and a part, ceased to heat above 375° after using the self cleaning function. I tried the steam clean function rather than risk the self destruction of a new oven, The spots are still there, and part of the finish on the floor of the oven is now not as shiny as the rest of it. Mind you I have had this oven for two weeks and used it only once. How it will look and smell after cooking a sheet pan meal or trying the air fry feature.FDO NOT BUY THIS OVEN UNLESS YOU LIKE YOUR OVEN DIRTY
Nice Oven With A Safety Flaw
For the most part I am happy with this oven but it has one major flaw. During a self cleaning cycle last year we experienced a power outage where I now had an extremely hot oven with no ventilation. The outage was long enough that our countertop became hot to the touch and when power finally did restore, the lcd screen was mostly black, with only partial screen display at the top, as if the screen itself was damaged. Fortunately, after venting and cooling, the screen returned to normal.
BEST oven I have ever used!
This oven came in our new build home. The sales person talked about this appliance (and the microwave/wall oven combo, stovetop, and dishwasher also CAFE brand) as he was showing us around. He really was excited about it. I never thought I would get excited about an oven. I thought wrong. Hands down the best investment! It is so convenient that I can start the over from anywhere, so if I am running late coming home from work, dinner doesn't have to be late because I didn't make it home in time to preheat the oven. I can be anywhere in the house and not have to worry about remembering something in the oven or hearing if the preheat beep went off as I get a notification right on my phone. I get distracted easily so this has saved me lots of money in good I used to have to toss because I overcooked it to the point of inedible or burned it. My favorite feature is the bottom shelf. I seem to be the person that always burns themself when pulling something out of the oven to turn meat or veggies over for even cooking. Not anymore! the bottom shelf slides out on a track. you can pull it out, it says put so you don't have to hold the rack while simultaneously trying to turn veggies and pay attention so your hand doesn't touch something hot. I AM OBSESSED!
Somewhat expensive, but very nice.
This oven is our first with a built in air fryer. That has been a lot of fun. I like to turn it on at the end of a bake to crisp up the edges of the food. It also has wifi which I probably will never use but it's still kind of cool. It seems to cook very evenly and accurately. The touch screen is nice and easy to use except it grows suddenly insensitive when I'm trying to turn off the timer alarm. It can take up to five tries to get it to stop alarming.
Oven envy
My daughter-in-law has oven envy after seeing my new oven. She loves its features. My main difficulty deals with the touch screen - my touch is not always recognized, ended up having to use a pen with a rubber tip. Wish it would allow you to see the password as you enter it. Between my difficulty with the touch and not seeing what I had typed, it took well over a half hour to finally get my password entered properly. Also some problems using the app.
Love the remote option!!
Great look and sleek design. I really like the remote option. I can throw a casserole before I leave my kids practices/games. I have it timed to remind me to turn on the oven and when I get home, dinner is ready/cooked. This has been a game changer for our family. We can eat dinner together then off to bed.
