Do not recommend- repeated compressor failures

This is a warranty replacement for our first GE Cafe refrigerator. The compressor failed on the first fridge after only 17 months. The replacement compressor failed 13 months later. The third compressor failed after 1.5 months. Fortunately the warranty covered full refrigerator replacement, which I appreciate, but I’d much rather have a fridge that works flawlessly for years without needing constant repairs. This was a very expensive fridge with a very bad compressor

Completely Failed

We have owned this refrigerator for a little over 2 years. It has completely failed; our groceries are stored at our neighbors. We have tried to deal with GE to get it repaired, but they have found no one. It has been over a month with no refrigerator. Finally the dealer from which we bought tried to intervene. He could not get any assistance from GE. The dealer has ordered us a new refrigerator at no cost. GE service is a complete waste.

Stunning Cafe Refrigerator

We are an all GE kitchen household. After 25 years, our GE Profile refrigerator died. Our new Cafe refrigerator looks stunning in our kitchen.I I love the alarm that signals when the door is ajar. I am glad we chose this counter depth appliance it fits perfectly in our kitchen.

Lost A Freezer Full In NEW CAFE

NEW (4 months old) CAFE Smart French Door Refrigerator has failed in performance miserably. Ice in the freezer and followed online technical support to remedy the ice in freezer, NO help. 9/13/24 we awoke to find the entire freezer contents thawed. Freezer tightly closed, no alarm! All that followed from GE and their subcontractors was a comedy of errors in service. Multiple appointments/cancellations. Too many to list! GE tech said that even the tiniest leak in freezer will thaw everything.

AWEFUL PRODUCT!!! Multiple Failures.

I never write product reviews, but this refrigerator has been such a problem I had to say something. The unit is only 6 years old and the refrigerator section circulation fan has failed for the second time. Our lake house is not in a highly populated area, so a service call is $150 PLUS the parts and labor. The ice maker is completely useless if you have more than a couple people over for drinks, and it is super slow at making replacement ice. Not happy.

The freezer doesn’t stay closed! Poor design.

While this is a very attractive refrigerator and seemingly works well, the freezer door often doesn’t close well. We regularly come back to it and the freezer door is slightly ajar. If it was left open overnight, we’ve had to throw food away that has thawed and might not be safe to eat any longer. It has big a huge problem. It’s been a horrible purchase. We will not buy another GE fridge.

Cafe Symbol

I just received my new GE CAFE refrigerator and the cafe symbol on the freezer door handle is damaged. Some of the color is off.

Handsome but smaller than the earlier model

We wanted to replace our old GE Profile fridge, which lasted 14 years and we loved. The GECafe It's very similar. It's nicely designed and handsome. The chief drawback is that it has considerably less storage. The water dispenser takes up much of the left door. And the interior shelves are a few inches shallower than our old refrigerator. Otherwise, so far so good. My wife likes the water dispenser, and it is a very attractive refrigerator.

Attractive and spacious

More spacious than I thought it would be, especially compared to our old side by side. The brushed stainless doesn’t hold fingerprints and is very attractive with our dark wood cabinets.

Didn’t meet expectations

At this price point, ~$3800, I had reasonably high expectations for quality, usability, & aesthetics. Ultimately, this refrigerator didn’t meet any of them. The fingerprintless feature is great & effective. That’s where the good ends. When delivered, the doors were adjusted & adjusted. But they could never be made level, a minor cosmetic flaw. Now after 18 months the touch screen has completely stopped working. Out of warranty so Cafe/GE only offered a diagnostic check for $115 plus parts/labor.

Love the Cafe Fridge, tho not as much as our first

We liked the first Cafe fridge so much that we bought another one here. But not as satisfied with this one. Freezer door sometimes doesn't close immediately; had to personally make adjustments and still not 100%. Definitely don't like the new design that has the top drawer of the freezer section running on the edge of the bottom drawer. It squeaks all the time, and we'd rather the top drawer stay back, in the 'unopened' position unless we pull it out (as it was on our first Cafe). All that said, we still really like this fridge.

Happy with our purchase!

The refrigerator is gorgeous and I love the upgrade to the handles to black. The video display is also an nice added touch. Seems to make ice frequently and keeps up with demand but definitely not enough if you needed some for a cooler or party. The bin that holds the ice is pretty small. We like the adjustable shelves and has adequate space for both the fridge and the freezer. Haven't used the hot water feature yet because I keep forgetting about it!

Beautiful, stylish & has an ICE MAKER!!!

MY FIRST REFRIGERATOR WITH AN ICE MAKER!!! This is a big deal for us and we wanted a refrigerator that was stylish, and a bit smaller than what we had. This is a perfect option for us - counter depth, stainless steel, the CAFE brand, and an ICE MAKER!! We are so excited! I haven't used the hot water option yet, but I will when cold season comes around for tea! Love all the features and couldn't be happier with the purchase - of course, it's new - so we are hoping that this refrigerator lasts a LONG time!

Did not receive refrigerator as displayed with bronze handles. This is deceptive and false advertising. Would like to receive the bronze handles or compensation. #3986187442

Love it, we just upgrade from GE profile to the cafe appliances and couldn’t be happier, is fancy everything works well, and I can now have my tea ready when I wake up. Wouldn’t change to any other brand

Not happy

I have not been pleased with this Cafe fridge. I had a hard time connecting it to wi-fi and when I finally did I could not get my photos to rotate on the screen. I read the directions a dozen times and finally figured out I needed to use a USB port for photos but I can’t find where to insert it. Also, the fridge did not come with an ice bucket to put the ice in therefore I had put a bowl in the space where the ice bucket should be. I thought the inside of the fridge would have the bronze appointments but it does not, I did order the bronze door handles but you cannot even tell they are bronze. Not sure why I paid the extra money for them. The doors of the fridge are so heavy that they are hard to close which makes the alarm go off constantly. The containers on the left side of the fridge door are very narrow while they are deep on the right side which limits my storage. All in all I am not happy with this product and wish I had purchased something different than the Cafe line. I have other GE appliances in other homes of mine that are fine but disappointed in Cafe line. And I need to know how to get an ice container to hold my ice.

Do not buy this piece of junk. After 1 month of use, I noticed items in the freezer had frost on them and food was not frozen. Check the temp setting, and it was reading 15-19 degrees F for the freezer. Would unplug the fridge to let it recycle, and it would be fine for a month or 2 then have the same issues. We’ve had this fridge/freezer for about 16 months, and this has happened too many times. We’ve thrown away a lot of food because of this. Sure it looks nice on the outside, but it’s faulty on the inside. And storage is horrible. We’re a family of 6, and we have to use our old white Kenmore fridge in the garage for a lot of items we cannot fit in this GE. Save yourself the headaches and do not buy this overpriced piece of junk.
