We just finished putting ours together. It works but we haven't had time to really test it out over time. But, here's what we can tell you so far. On the plus side, the unit arrived quickly, was well-packed, and there was no appreciable damage. There was one missing washer; no biggie, I have tons. The parts are all well-marked and the instructions easy to understand and follow. It went together without any major issues. Beyond that, we did encountered some minor issues regards quality of design and materials. First, resist the temptation to save time and effort using a battery-powered drill/driver to screw it together. The threaded inserts in the panels in to which you are screwing can strip out very easily if you use too high a torque setting. Better to use the Allen wrench provided or a manual Allen screwdriver. 2) None of the L brackets were a true 90 degrees so extra effort was needed to get the assembly properly aligned and squared up. 3) In that same regard, the use of locator dowel pins to help align panels would be a big improvement. 4) Some of the panels were slightly warped leaving visible gaps in the seams between panels. Once we are done assembling, we will have to go back, fill those gaps with wood putty, then sand and repaint the unit. Lastly, I can't begin to imagine why the power card for the unit with the white mantel and surround would be black. It looks terrible stretched along the white baseboard to the white outlet on a white wall. A white power cord would have been much better and save buying cord covers or painting. All in all, our initial impressions are that this unit is a bit less than what I would expect for the price we paid even though we got it at a HUGE discount. I would probably still buy it again anyway if I still got the discount price we paid. But, I probably would not buy it if it was selling at full factory MSRP. Now that we've had it for several winters, our updated assessment is that a 3 is the best we can give it. We thought it would save us money by closing our master suite door and not heating the rest of the upstairs at night. But, the energy consumed by this unit was as much as it would have cost to use our central heat. So, we have saved nothing and wasted the cost of purchasing it. If we knew then what we know now, we would not have purchased this item. On the plus side, it looks GREAT in our master and we have learned to not run it longer than necessary to just take the edge off the chill in the room. Now that we also have solar, running it has also become more competitively economical than using the gas central heat to try to heat the entire second story. So, it moves up to a 4.

Beautiful but frustrating experience

Unfortunately my experience with Real Flame has been very frustrating. I will never recommend this company and will never buy anything from them again. To pay $1000 for something and go through what I have gone through is unacceptable. I'm limited to 500 characters or I would type more. The fireplace itself is gorgeous but if you get sent the wrong parts or have damage, good luck!

We love our new fireplace. It puts out plenty of heat. It has variable levels to choose from 72-99 F. When room reaches set heat, it automatically stops producing heat but flame continues. The flame is very realistic looking. The mantle itself looks very nice and professional.

We couldn't be happier with our new fireplace!! I had read the reviews beforehand, which were good, but to be honest I was expecting a nice, but kind of "phony" looking fireplace. But this is the real deal. It is solidly built and the size (much taller than most electric fireplaces) makes it feel like the real thing. And the look of the flame is very realistic as well. It has really changed the look and feel of our living room. Highly recommend.

Not sure why this is coming up for review! But when it arrived over a year ago, the box was damaged and the fireplace was 2 different colors. I ordered the cherrywood color and receive the front part in cherrywood with the sides in white. WTH. It was of course returned and I decided to purchase a different fireplace elsewhere! Would have given 0 stars!

There was a damaged piece we noticed when unboxing it, but Real Flame was immediately responsive and corrected the issue. The finish carpenter we hired to install it remarked about how well constructed the fireplace was, and he couldn't believe it was made of "real wood." We love, love it!

We are so happy with our Callaway Grand Electric Fireplace. After doing much research and reading reviews we decided to go ahead and make the purchase. We are extremely happy with the result. What a statement piece that has transformed our family room! Arrived with no damage and went together easily. The flames are very realistic as well. Very pleased.

This is a beautiful Electric Fireplace! The mantel and trim are all wood, good quality, nicely finished, and I'm very pleased with it. It looks great in my Traditional living room, and I love the "burning ember" feature when the flame is turned off. The remote works perfectly and has settings for auto-off, different flame types, with and without heat, and more. Glad I bought it!

Looks great in my living room. I was looking for a tall piece to look more like a real fireplace and this does. Everything was well packed and labeled. It took a bit to put together, I had to reposition parts a few times but I think that's good because it all fit nice and snug so it looks awesome!
