Easy and amazing to use, quality product I am glad to own. ??
I received this item (in white) during Christmas time 2019. I have used it in the oven and on the stove top. It is an AMAZING tool for our family! One of the most basic (and delicious things I use it for is sautéed onions, or bell peppers! Chop up the vegetable, turn the heat on the pan! I add a touch of fat (tendered bacon is a family favorite, or coconut oil!) toss them in, add a couple turns of sea salt and wait for the magic to happen!!! Thank you for making such quality products!
The perfect pot!
Love our beautiful red, 4 qt. Staub cocotte. It’s the perfect size for the two of us. We’ve used it on the stovetop to make soups, spaghetti and meatballs, and in the oven to make a small chuck roast with vegetables among other things and each dish has cooked perfectly and was delicious! Love the top that has the round drops that continually baste the food. Looking forward to many years of use. Highly recommend, especially when it’s on sale!
Love At First Sight
I love love love my 4 qt Staub Cocotte I recently purchased. This is my first Staub when I have three Le Creuset Dutch Oven in various sizes. Something about the way the heavy lit fits so snug and the whole feel of the pot and its tight shape make me prefer Staub over Le Creuset now I have both to use side by side. The knob gets hot requiring a glove because it is made of metal unlike Le Creuset is the only complainl I have.
Excellent quality
The Staub 4 quart enameled cast iron cocotte is the perfect size pot for 2 people, and that includes leftovers. This is my first piece of Staub cookware. It browns beautifully, is easy to clean, and has a very tight fitting lid. The quality is excellent, and I like the self-basting lid feature, which keeps the juices in when braising.
I love it!
For cooking part, I give this lovely Dutch oven five stars! For the appearance part, it’s not such “prefect” looking like Le Creuset does. The enameled process does not cover the edges of both pot and cap very well, you can easily see and feel by hand the rough surface of cast iron. Since I buy it for cooking delicious food, it won’t bother me. But considering the price of this pot, Staub could do it better on these details.
Want to use it for everything!
We love this pot. My husband bakes bread in it (Bittman's no-knead recipe). I've started to reach for it every time i want to make a one dish meal or a sauce or whatever. We have three of that other brand, but this is the one now. And we didn't have to replace the pot handles. Staub's are stainless steel already. The red is gorgeous. Holds a simmer extremely well. It was on sale.
Attractive and functional cookware
A very nice pot. I have a lot of le creuset, but this is my first staub. The 3 main differences I’ve noticed are that the metal handle allows you to use a higher oven temperature, it has a dark interior that may or may not show less wear and tear with extended use, and because of the spiked lid design, cooking liquids do not reduce as much or as quickly, so you may have to adjust for that if you want a thicker gravy. The dark interior is attractive — I’ve been oiling it after each use to minimize stains. Food does stick to it more than on my other Dutch ovens, but that may change with extended use. I’ve only had it a few weeks and I’ve already made several bean soups, a beef stew, pasta, and Osso Bucco. I can tell I will get a lot of use out of it, even tho it’s only a 4 qt size. Advice — be sure to use a pot holder when grabbing the lid knob, as it gets really hot, and use a medium to low burner setting when cooking on stovetop — unless you’re boiling water, you don’t need a high flame. Also, don’t clang the lid down, it could damage the finish.
High quality but smaller than expected
This 4qt Staub Dutch oven cooks super evenly. The black enamel interior browns foods perfectly without burning or sticking, and it cleans up easily. It's even better than a seasoned cast iron pan. The first time I browned some cubes of chuck roast for a stew I was amazed at how well it performed compared to my 5-ply stainless saucepan I've used for years.
Beautifully made at a great price! Will last forever!
Beautifully designed and manufactured. The matte black finish is exactly what I wanted so I could pair it with my existing 2.5 quart black matte cocotte. Now I have a matched pair in two convenient sizes.
Perfect addition to my kitchen
The Staub 4 quart Round Cocotte is a great addition to my kitchen tools. It has been used twice since I received it a little over two weeks ago. It made a perfect shrimp gumbo with a perfect roux and a melt in your mouth Beef Burgundy. I love the basting feature that returns the juices to the pot.
Best Cooking Investment
I love this pan.
