Good Concept But Vacuum Unit Not All That Great

I bought this unit thinking it would be very handy to have on the kitchen counter to touch up knives when needed. The sharpening part of the unit works just fine. However the vacuum seal plunger does not. I have tried to use it on stove tops, wooden counter tops, even a smooth metal cooking utensil but the vacuum will not hold well enough to sharpen a knife without having to manually hold the entire unit. Doing that puts your holding hand in harms way while sharpening the knife. I wish it did work more solidly as it would be a handy tool.

Works very well on flat edge of the blade, and is very useful and convenient for kitchen type knives. Very stable suction when attached. Doesn't do so well with the curved ends to point on hunting and similarly formed blades .

It is very good tool

It is very good tool for sharpening dull knives. The size of the sharpener is small and capable of sharpening large and small knives. The small size makes storing the sharpener convenient.

Great Sharpener

This sharpener really works! Very convenient to mount to any smooth flat surface, and similar to other reviewers experience, a few light strokes will sharpen a blade to a fine even edge. I took a brand new Kershaw and ran it through this a few times, and it was noticably sharper. It will produce some shavings as mentioned so be aware of that, however this is a good value for the money, and much easier to use than stones or diamond rods.

Reliable knife sharpener

Won’t make your blade edge razor sharp, but it’s great for putting a reasonable sharp edge on your everyday knifes. Give my kitchen knives a couple of strokes on this sharpener to refresh the edge before kitchen chopping and cutting chores.

Sharpens all our straight edged knives exceedingly well to a very sharp cutting edge. When it arrived I "benign sharpened" every straight edged knife in our household from kitchen paring, chopping and carving; fishing / hunting fixed blades; workshop fixed blade knives and folding knives. It merely took only about 6 "swipes" through the sharpener to achieve an extremely sharp edge on stainless or alloy or carbon steel blades. It was a pure pleasure to achieve such great results with so little effort!
