Great when it works. Terrible if you have an issue.

Worked fine for 2 months then stopped flushing. Kohler won't send out a technician until I verify with an electrician that it has enough power (even though I said there's nothing else on the circuit and I've plugged it into several other circuits) and verify with a plumber that it has the correct flow rate. It worked fine for 2 months......... Also, I have another Veil toilet that works fine... It's an expensive toilet that doesn't flush.

Amazing customer service

Our Veil had anemic flushing. I contacted Kohler customer service. I was not able to provide the exact date of installation, which was right at the end of the 3 year warranty. Kohler customer service didn't even raise that issue. It sent out a replacement part immediately. My plumber replaced the part and cleaned out the 3 filters on the toilet. It performs like new. I am a committed fan of Kohler!

The beeping is killing me.

We have three of these toilets in a condo we recently purchased. We are not new to bidet toilets as installed a Toto in a number of previous homes. This is our first time with Kohler. A number of issues we are having that we can’t find a plumber to resolve. The water supply turn off that came with the toilets is frozen open on all the toilets so we can’t service the filters, the beeping is loud and obnoxious, and one of the toilets is peeping continuously. Not the remote. The toilet. Had to be unplugged and can only use the emergency flush and fill feature.

3 year review update of our Veil K-5401-PA, its great but maintenance is needed...

Its a nice unit. With any of these new toilets, you will need to have the correct replacement /consumable parts on hand so you are not waiting 7 to 10 days for parts availability. These parts are not mentioned in the Installation Guide (Doc 1357210-2-c) nor the Homeowners Guide (Doc 1385274-5-B). Download Kohler parts number for reference.

Throne for a King

This toilet is spectacular. I miss it when I travel. If you can afford it, just get it, you'll be happy.

Know what you are purchasing.

I see a lot of low ratings related to flushing, operation, noise etc. People need to research what they are purchasing and blame their lack of familiarity/education rather than poor product quality. I also read that people are complaining about the product without first contacting the manufacturer. This is the equivalent of suffering an automobile breakdown and complaining only to your Uber driver instead of your mechanic. I have two Kohler toilets, soon to be three. Exceptional quality and they will perform as expected as long as a qualified installer is used. Becoming disabled as a result of COVID-19 I am making significant investments in my home to make my life easier. This smart toilet made the list and I have zero regrets. My CC extends the manufacturers warranty and my plumber, electrician & HVAC guy are all working together to add an additional laundry room and bathroom. One interesting discovery was that the pressure flush caused a “bang” noise in the basement. I had heard it before but never thought much of it. After a bit of sleuthing I discovered that copper water pipes were not universally secured to the basement ceiling. They were perhaps running as far as 18’ in spots. A few braces cradled the pipes and solved the problem tickity boo! Thank you Kohler. You’re a class act.

Disappointed, Kohler Should Do Better

I am an interior designer and purchase/specify 30-40 toilets a year. Mostly Kohler and Toto. For my own remodel, I chose two veil smart toilets--over 8K for these two retail. Had I paid that I would have been even more annoyed, but even at a trade price this toilet is vastly overpriced when compared to performance. The toilet feels like an experiment that Kohler never finished. (1) The bowl has "splashback". Every female who has used it has commented on it. I also have a Kohler Kathryn and a Toto Aimes and this is not a problem for those models, so it's not a "user error" but rather a design flaw. The only way to avoid this is to sit exceptionally and uncomfortably far back on the seat. (Clients have complained of the same flaw on Brazen toilets as well). This is something Kohler needs to figure out. Hard to understand how a flaw this bad wasn't discovered in the testing phase. (2) the heated seat has caused the seat to yellow in a disgusting way -- that happened after only a month or two. Makes it look dirty, but the nature of the discoloration makes it clear that it's the heat, (3) The worst offense is that the flush does not get the bowl clean at all. The toilet needs to be scrubbed every day. It seems to miss entire areas near the rim. The seat features are great, and the bidet remote is a nice feature but that is not unique anymore. The design is clean and the tankless feature gives you the look of a in-wall tank without the hassle so it makes a great design statement. The wash functions all work well and are superior to the Toto in terms of control of position and temp, and the toilet looks great, but those features are negated by the cons noted above. I would not recommend this toilet. While it may succeed on it's style, it fails miserably in function. I'm thinking of ripping it out and replacing it.

Beautiful Design - Awful Function

I bought two of these over the Toto Neorest. Big regret, and I can’t return them after using them one time.

Not Everything is Clean

I’ve had this bidet about two months now. Prior to this I just had a Toto bidet seat with the virtually the same options. Three things I don’t like about this toilet is that the sensor for the auto lid opening is ridiculously far too sensitive. Even at the lowest setting the seat opens as soon as we walk into the bathroom and we’re a good 5’ away not even intending to use it. The second is the auto flush. I find it repulsive that the seat doesn’t close before flushing and emitting sewer spurs into the air. Furthermore and lastly the actual flushing sounds like a powerful, but in all actuality it takes two flushes to rid the toilet of anything put into it. I’m not talking copious amounts of anything - I would a below average amount still takes two flushes. I wouldn’t buy this again. This was a trial run to see if we wanted to invest more into other homes, but Kohler has not impressed me with a multi thousand dollar toilet.

Avoid this type of toilet

My wife and I bought this toilet about 5 years ago and installed in our primary bathroom. We were initially very excited about the auto raise function, the auto flush function, plus the built-in bidet and heated seat. Only after installation did we find out out that it flushes louder than a jet engine and its parts don't last in the long run. Besides the fact that we can't flush at night because it will wake up the other person, we've had to replace the electronic valve after 4.5 years because this part "apparently wears too fast" and had to pay for a plumber to come out and install it. I will say that customer service was accommodating and gave us an "exception" by providing the part we needed at no cost. Regardless, with how much this toilet costs, one would think its parts could last beyond residential use after 5 years. Looking back, we probably would've gotten a normal toilet with a specialized seat and saved ourselves the headache plus some coin.

It’s awesome. And my wife can never get upset that I forgot the seat or to flush.

My first experience with a bidet. I had been using wet wipes for years. I always knew wipes were not good for the flush. But I wanted a clean tush. Now my hiney is clean and no more wipes. I’m saving 75.00/a year not buying wipes so the toilet will pay itself off by the year 2069. I’m more than happy with the purchase and only wish I had bought one years ago.

Absolutely phenomenal

We got the Kohler Veil Dual Flush One Piece Elongated Chair Height Intelligent Toilet for our new bathroom. We were doing construction and starting from scratch, with that being said, you buy the best! Finally after 4 months for the purchase date we got to use our new throne! Just like I said, 'throne' it's the royalty of toilets. This was the best investment for our new private palace. We could not be any happier! We 100% recommend this toilet and all Kohler products to anyone looking for their best bathroom experience.. completely awesome!

Great toilet....when it works!

We purchased the Veil toilet about 2 years ago when we renovated our main bathroom. The toilet was installed by a professional licensed plumber. After less than 1 year the toilet would not flush properly. The plumber had to replace the pump and water control assemblies. It worked fine for approximately 11 months until we had similar problems with the flushing. It was determined that the same parts had failed and new ones had to be ordered. We have now been told by Kohler that the pump assemblies are not available until sometime in Jan 2023 as they are being manufactured. All told, it will be at least 6 months that we cannot use the toilet since it was first installed. Very dissapointing, particularly considering it's price.

Disappointing

We have had this toilet installed for +/- 18 months. Operationally it has repeatedly failed to preform. Multiple flushes are required for liquid or solid removal. Inadquate bowl evaluation is the modus operandi, and we can not allow guests and visitors to the house to use this extremely variable operational toilet. Steer clear of this unless you want to have continuous. discussions with family, guest and plumbers as to why this toilet fails to perform.

toilet flushes 1/50 times

We really like this toilet, but it does not flush completely. Everything else works really well, but the turbo flush only works in 1/50 flushes. We contacted the Kohler store and Kohler directly and a technician was sent to the house, replaced some part on the toilet but told us our water pressure was too low, and basically “sucks to be you”. We are in a house that is 5 years old with zero issues related to water pressure. We have never had an issue running everything in the house while taking a shower, and this was news to us. We are now out $5,000 with zero assistance. Everything else in our house is Kohler, but needless to say, we will never buy anything from Kohler again and proceed very cautiously if you are considering the purchase of one of these.

Great when it works but ours never has

We bought this two years ago and it has never worked correctly. The automated features and bidet only worked intermittently We contacted Koehler and they sent out a service person who said it needed to be reinstalled which he charged us $1600 for that Koehler would not reimburse. So now we had an $8000 toilet No surprise it did not work after the reinstall. Service person came out again and replaced the seat. Worked for about two weeks and then started flushing itself every 15 minutes and started leaking from around the bottom. Flooded our bathroom twice. Called Koehler again. They are outright refusing to give us a new toilet they want the service person to come out again to try to repair. Obviously this is a lemon and needs to be replaced. Doubt I will be buying anything Koehler after the customer service I have received

The Bidet is nice, but…

The Kohler bidet is high quality. It’s modern appearing, but it’s noisy. You don’t get up at night without waking the entire house. Boom bam as it flushes with great speed. I have my plumber coming to add a solenoid arrestor to quiet it. I would score this higher, but the settings are not personalized on the remote. It’s made for one person use. The shipping companies delivery to my home was the worse experience. It was placed, without ringing my doorbell, in front of my garage. It blocked any access to my vehicles. This 150 pound toilet was strapped to a wood palette, left in the rain. That box quickly became a soggy mess. I’m not able to move 150 pounds alone, but I’m sure some young healthy guys sure could if they knew the value. Who leaves a large object in front of a garage door without asking where to drop it? I was home waiting for the delivery. Suddenly online, it showed delivered. What? When? I was told, when I called, they have a picture of it in front of my garage. What?

Living in the future is here, bring your own TP.

For our bathroom remodel we decided to "splurge" on this space age looking unit. Cost more than we wanted to but it's worth it. No more forgetting to put the seat down, up or sideways. It knows and does it flawlessly. Sanitizes, washes and dries things I'm not sure I can mention here. i kind of feel like that person who had a 9" television in 1948 and was able to get about 8 shows each week. That person must have amazed their friends and neighbors but after a while, the novelty gave way to just enjoying the show- which is somewhat of an analog for my experience with the Kohler Veil, we're just enjoying the comfort and convenience and hope to for another 20 years. I do wonder what happens when there is a power outage though.

As if this wasn't already $$$

So, I've had this for months due to a sale and knowing I'm redoing my bathroom in December. I haven't had it hooked up yet and can't speak to quality (though for the price it darn well better be good!). However, a warning: this toilet must operate on its own dedicated circuit. Regular plugs already in your bathroom won't do. This means, for me, an extra $** to run a circuit from clear across my condo, through the ceiling, to the master bath. So, in addition to this being several thousand dollars on its own, it's adding $** to my labour costs. Running a new circuit may not be an issue in your home. Just a heads up to avoid installation sticker shock (want to cry!) and to speak with an electrician in addition to any plumbing professional you engage to install. Will follow up once it's installed to say whether it is worth the extra work/$$$$$.
