Amazing customer service

Our Veil had anemic flushing. I contacted Kohler customer service. I was not able to provide the exact date of installation, which was right at the end of the 3 year warranty. Kohler customer service didn't even raise that issue. It sent out a replacement part immediately. My plumber replaced the part and cleaned out the 3 filters on the toilet. It performs like new. I am a committed fan of Kohler!

The beeping is killing me.

We have three of these toilets in a condo we recently purchased. We are not new to bidet toilets as installed a Toto in a number of previous homes. This is our first time with Kohler. A number of issues we are having that we can’t find a plumber to resolve. The water supply turn off that came with the toilets is frozen open on all the toilets so we can’t service the filters, the beeping is loud and obnoxious, and one of the toilets is peeping continuously. Not the remote. The toilet. Had to be unplugged and can only use the emergency flush and fill feature.

3 year review update of our Veil K-5401-PA, its great but maintenance is needed...

Its a nice unit. With any of these new toilets, you will need to have the correct replacement /consumable parts on hand so you are not waiting 7 to 10 days for parts availability. These parts are not mentioned in the Installation Guide (Doc 1357210-2-c) nor the Homeowners Guide (Doc 1385274-5-B). Download Kohler parts number for reference.

Throne for a King

This toilet is spectacular. I miss it when I travel. If you can afford it, just get it, you'll be happy.

Know what you are purchasing.

I see a lot of low ratings related to flushing, operation, noise etc. People need to research what they are purchasing and blame their lack of familiarity/education rather than poor product quality. I also read that people are complaining about the product without first contacting the manufacturer. This is the equivalent of suffering an automobile breakdown and complaining only to your Uber driver instead of your mechanic. I have two Kohler toilets, soon to be three. Exceptional quality and they will perform as expected as long as a qualified installer is used. Becoming disabled as a result of COVID-19 I am making significant investments in my home to make my life easier. This smart toilet made the list and I have zero regrets. My CC extends the manufacturers warranty and my plumber, electrician & HVAC guy are all working together to add an additional laundry room and bathroom. One interesting discovery was that the pressure flush caused a “bang” noise in the basement. I had heard it before but never thought much of it. After a bit of sleuthing I discovered that copper water pipes were not universally secured to the basement ceiling. They were perhaps running as far as 18’ in spots. A few braces cradled the pipes and solved the problem tickity boo! Thank you Kohler. You’re a class act.

Disappointed, Kohler Should Do Better

I am an interior designer and purchase/specify 30-40 toilets a year. Mostly Kohler and Toto. For my own remodel, I chose two veil smart toilets--over 8K for these two retail. Had I paid that I would have been even more annoyed, but even at a trade price this toilet is vastly overpriced when compared to performance. The toilet feels like an experiment that Kohler never finished. (1) The bowl has "splashback". Every female who has used it has commented on it. I also have a Kohler Kathryn and a Toto Aimes and this is not a problem for those models, so it's not a "user error" but rather a design flaw. The only way to avoid this is to sit exceptionally and uncomfortably far back on the seat. (Clients have complained of the same flaw on Brazen toilets as well). This is something Kohler needs to figure out. Hard to understand how a flaw this bad wasn't discovered in the testing phase. (2) the heated seat has caused the seat to yellow in a disgusting way -- that happened after only a month or two. Makes it look dirty, but the nature of the discoloration makes it clear that it's the heat, (3) The worst offense is that the flush does not get the bowl clean at all. The toilet needs to be scrubbed every day. It seems to miss entire areas near the rim. The seat features are great, and the bidet remote is a nice feature but that is not unique anymore. The design is clean and the tankless feature gives you the look of a in-wall tank without the hassle so it makes a great design statement. The wash functions all work well and are superior to the Toto in terms of control of position and temp, and the toilet looks great, but those features are negated by the cons noted above. I would not recommend this toilet. While it may succeed on it's style, it fails miserably in function. I'm thinking of ripping it out and replacing it.

Beautiful Design - Awful Function

I bought two of these over the Toto Neorest. Big regret, and I can’t return them after using them one time.

Not Everything is Clean

I’ve had this bidet about two months now. Prior to this I just had a Toto bidet seat with the virtually the same options. Three things I don’t like about this toilet is that the sensor for the auto lid opening is ridiculously far too sensitive. Even at the lowest setting the seat opens as soon as we walk into the bathroom and we’re a good 5’ away not even intending to use it. The second is the auto flush. I find it repulsive that the seat doesn’t close before flushing and emitting sewer spurs into the air. Furthermore and lastly the actual flushing sounds like a powerful, but in all actuality it takes two flushes to rid the toilet of anything put into it. I’m not talking copious amounts of anything - I would a below average amount still takes two flushes. I wouldn’t buy this again. This was a trial run to see if we wanted to invest more into other homes, but Kohler has not impressed me with a multi thousand dollar toilet.

Avoid this type of toilet

My wife and I bought this toilet about 5 years ago and installed in our primary bathroom. We were initially very excited about the auto raise function, the auto flush function, plus the built-in bidet and heated seat. Only after installation did we find out out that it flushes louder than a jet engine and its parts don't last in the long run. Besides the fact that we can't flush at night because it will wake up the other person, we've had to replace the electronic valve after 4.5 years because this part "apparently wears too fast" and had to pay for a plumber to come out and install it. I will say that customer service was accommodating and gave us an "exception" by providing the part we needed at no cost. Regardless, with how much this toilet costs, one would think its parts could last beyond residential use after 5 years. Looking back, we probably would've gotten a normal toilet with a specialized seat and saved ourselves the headache plus some coin.

It’s awesome. And my wife can never get upset that I forgot the seat or to flush.

My first experience with a bidet. I had been using wet wipes for years. I always knew wipes were not good for the flush. But I wanted a clean tush. Now my hiney is clean and no more wipes. I’m saving 75.00/a year not buying wipes so the toilet will pay itself off by the year 2069. I’m more than happy with the purchase and only wish I had bought one years ago.
