Really nice feature that allows you to re-key the lock easily. Can be used to replace an old lock and keep the old key or when managing rental properties. This feature works well.

1.5 inch crossbore compatible

Kwikset support was really helpful identifying this 980 deadbolt as the right one for my 1.5 inch crossbore steel door. It fit really well when nothing else would. I was skeptical about SmartKey, but it worked like a charm. I was able to rekey all my locks in less than 5 minutes and the process didn't feel cheap or unsecure.

This deadbolt easily replaced an existing lock that broke. It was easy to change this to my existing key.

Lock went in very easily and re-keyed to my existing key in seconds as advertised. Replaced a Master lock that also had a KW-1 keyway. Very satisfied!!

Working well.

Overall the deadbolt has worked to our expectations and we are happy with Home Depot, service and it has met our expectations. Home Depot has been our company for quite a few years and their service has been excellent.

Great lock and able to rekey myself.

First one threads were roughed up and returned. Second one holes I’m plate to small for bolts. Had to be careful but was able to bore larger without messing up sides. Little room for error.

Appears to be durable. It has to undergo 10,000 insertions without breaking for 4 years. I hope it last.
