Please Do Not Purchase this washer!

Received washer in 3/2021. Got CR subscription to find best washer & this was it. Spent many hours going over reviews, and ordered, full price. 5/2022 it went out, it would still work, but "start button" had to be pushed with an unbelievable force. LG did pay for a new computer to be placed, but the repairman told me was a common occurrence. Now 10/2024, 21/2 years since new computer & kaput. LG wanted to charge me $400 to have a repairman come (parts included), but I gave up and went back to the largest, cheapest washer. So disappointed, I did like this washer, loved the glass top, it's cleaning ability was so-so.

Green Scam!

This washer will not use enough water for the agitator to properly operate. There is not enough water used for items to freely move about. I found to my horror clothing in a small puddle of water while the agitator was aggressively ripping them around. I could just as well go down to the creek and beat clothing on rocks.

LG Washer WT7005CW

We used to have a Electrolux front load washer that never washed well for us and finally broke on its 2nd anniversary. We switched to top-load washer and purchased the LG WT7005CW. So far after 4 months we are very happy with it.

Water level sucks

I got this machine 3 days ago. My first load was a medium load of towels, it dispensed enough water to barely get them wet. The towels sat at the bottom of the tub and didn't move as the agitator turned and turned in the center. So I tried the deep fill option and the machined filled to max capacity with water, I wanted more water but max fill was way too much. I live out of town, I have a well and septic tank, so I watch my water use and water that is being sent to my septic tank. I did a couple more loads, messing with different settings, trying to get about 1/2 a tub of water with no luck, seems it is either not enough water or plum full of water. I washed another medium sized load of clothes and used the Bedding setting. This setting filled the tub about half way, just the right amount of water needed for the clothes to be moved through the agitation process. So now I am troubled.. should I trade it in for a washer that has manual water level adjustment or keep this thing and wash every load in the Bedding setting. What would you do?

Hate it

I had a 31 year old washer that was looking beat up, but still working fine. I thought it was time for a new model but I was wrong. This washer is terrible. 1. Does not clean clothes and leaves behind a white film on clothes. 2. It does not balance at all!! I can put in my bed sheets and machine will go out of balance and waste soooo much water by refilling and trying to balance. I have to stand there and move the sheets around. 3. The water level NEVER covers clothes. I HATE this useless piece of junk and wish I still had my ugly but fabulous old washer that cleaned, was always balance, was simple and I could turn it on and leave the house and know all was fine. With this washer I have to stay in house just to make sure it completes wash. Did I mention how much I hate this machine?

[Rewarded Review] Great washer!

Mighty inexpensive washer with smart washing sensing that allows the washer to determine the length of the cycle based on load size, etc.. My favorite feature is the glass lid because it allows for watching the wash cycle which is rather relaxing and mindlessly satisfying! Highly suggest considering this product if you are looking for a new washer. My only complaint is that there is an agitator which can make it challenging to wash full loads of larger items of towels, blankets, and bulky items such as comforters. Although it is possible to wash a full load of blankets or towels I have found it works best to do 1-2 towels or blankets with other smaller items rather than a full load of just towels or blankets. I have been able to wash a full/queen sized quilt and twin xl puffy comforter it just took some maneuvering around the agitator to ensure the load was evenly distributed to avoid an off balance error.

Installation of washer & dryer

The delivery guys were great. NOW to the installation. We paid extra for the installation of both however all that was really done was to hook the stuff up to both the washer & dryer & plug them in, that’ it, we had to finish the installation up ourselves! Not cool!

Nice washer - Good job by Lowe's.

After researching Consumer Reports, we chose an LG product. Decided on this model, through Lowe's. Lowe's had them in stock and could install in a few days (vs. week or more for others we checked with). Although, it does not have all of the bells and whistles of higher-level models, it was priced where we were looking, and does many of the wash cycles and options we wanted. So far (two weeks), working great! Quiet. We do wish it had a "soak" option. As for the installation - Great! I highly recommend this Lowe's store as it had a great crew for installation. They were there at 8:00 AM sharp and had the old washer out and the new one installed, went over warranty and instructions, and cleaned up in 45 minutes!

DO NOT RECOMMEND-Water level & other unacceptable

The water level didn't AT ALL wet the majority of the clothes. When the agitator started to agitate the load there wasn't even enough water to be able to see any water. I was told it was because they were too light and the sensor didn't pick them up. In order to have enough water to wash, I would have to use the deep fill option or heavy duty cycle. This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to waste water in order to wash a load of clothes. Thankfully I had purchased this on my Lowes credit card and was able to return, outside of the 48-72 hour return policy had I used any other form of payment. That's a whole other issue. Who doesn't let you return a bad product after 72 hours????

Buyer Beware!

Disappointed in WT7005CW washer. After one month using this NEW washer, the tub developed a violate shaking. Home Depot referred me to LG. After a second call to LG, they sent a tech who diagnosed worn out shocks on the washer and that the tub had dropped. Tech returned and replaced the shocks and raised the tub 2 or 3 inches. This did not correct the problem. Tech then diagnosed that the tub was warped and not round but oval. The tech returned and replaced the tub and five other parts. This is now a refurbished washer for which I paid full price! Other disappointments: Normal wash does not fill enough water to cover clothing, clothing comes out with dry patches; It uses less water but washes twice as long; clothing tangled or tightly wrapped around agitator; water trapped in detergent dispenser; LG should pull this washer off the market and redesign. I found it difficult to deal with LG customer service. This purchase has been a terrible experience.

[Rewarded Review] Have had this 3 years now, an educated review

This LG washing machine does work well, but really only in the situation where you make sure you’re using two important features. first, make sure you’re only choosing DEEP WASH for EVERY cycle. If you’re not doing this, you simply have a machine that just won’t dispense enough water to cover your clothes and really clean them well. Secondly, in conjunction with the deep wash cycle, you should also be pressing the deep fill button, which is featured all the way on the right side of the machine. Even if you have very small loads, using both of these features at the exact same time when beginning your load, will assure you that you have enough water covering the clothes. I promise you that with even small loads, you will not be filling the entire tub with water by doing this. It will only give you enough water just to cover the small load, and it works out perfect every time. Do these things, and the machine works great for you. If you start using things like the normal cycle or speed wash, and you’re not using the deep fill feature at the same time, I promise you, you will not have enough water to cover your clothes and clean your laundry properly.

Terrible Product

Buyer beware. The agitator hardly moves the laundry around and certainly does not submerge all of the laundry under water resulting in a very inadequate wash. When selecting the “normal” cycle, the tub fills only 1/4 of the way with water, regardless of the amount of laundry that is put in, and attempts to wash. If you try to wash bedding, even a single twin sized sheet, the agitator strangles itself with the bedding causing the washing machine to become un-balanced every single time. The machine attempts to recalibrate and repeats the rinse cycle, re-filling the tub with water only to strangle itself again and repeats the same process until you have to manually turn off the machine and untangle the sheets yourself. The photo attached to this review shows the amount of water it filled with when loading a medium-size load of towels (such little water that the towels soaked up all the water. The machine attempted to wash the towels like this). Absolutely ridiculous. I’m not a happy customer. Do not buy this product.

I absolutely hate this washing machine. I am old enough to remember when washing machine actually cleaned your clothes using lots of water and high agitation. I bought this machine as it had a deep fill feature (stupid me I shopped online) and was a top loading with a clear top so I could see inside. My last machine was a front loader and it never seemed to drain out all the water and had to be cleaned regularly to stop mold so this was a better alternative and more like my 30 yr old kenmore. Well, I watched a sock and various items stay dry for most of the wash cycle, taken out towels where I chose high spin that were still very very wet increasing drying time, and white socks that I had to wash a second time as they still looked dirty. You only get cold rinse cycles, you can’t just spin clothes, and when you get an uneven load with the insufficient wash cycle it just rewets them again and again wasting water that could have been used in the wash cycle. Again I hate this machine and if I had the money I would donate it and buy another. For goodness sake what happed to the good old washing machines that used water and got clothes clean. I guess we just can’t have nice things anymore.

Satisfied with my purchase!

The machine does a pretty good job automatically figuring out how much water to use. It correctly sensed a very large load of heavy bulky items (bath towels, jeans, sweatshirts, etc) and filled the tub almost to the brim, using a total of about 50 gallons of water for both wash and rinse. On a small load of lighter items (socks, undergarments, polos) it got the job done using a total of only 16 gallons. Although, when I wanted to do a quick "rinse and spin" of a couple of swimsuits, it decided to use 14 gallons which I thought was way too much.

Terriable! NOT ENOUGH WATER - AVOID

We live on a small farm. Using this LG model WT7005CW is akin to carrying our dirty clothes to our creek and washing with stones. That's basically how time consuming it is to make this $700 paper weight do anything remotely considered "washing clothes".

[Rewarded Review] Good washer overall

So far I am finding this to be a very good quality washer that gets my clothes and other items clean as at should. Time will tell, just as with anything, how long it will last before needing repairs, etc., but so far I’m happy. I like that it loads from the top. I like that it is easy and pretty self-explanatory to use. I like that there is a little slide out drawer for detergent and fabric softener divided, and that there is a special corner pouring spot for bleach/bleach alternative. I like that there are many choices in which to choose for cycle, and that you can adjust the water temperature, spin cycle, how heavy soiled if you choose. So basically it is easy and versatile. It makes a fairly loud sing-song type noise when the cycle is finished so you can hear from the next room when it’s done. It seems to have a large bin, so you can easily fit a lot in there if you need to and it still comes out clean. The only complaints I have really is that on the cycle to wash bedding it sets it for around 2 1/2 hours, which seams too long, especially if you’re trying to do multiple loads in a day. I think the last one I had the bedding cycle was more like an hour and 45 min, which was just what I got used to. The other cycles run more like 60-75 min, which seems about right. The other small thing, that is likely to not even apply to other people, is that it is a bit of a tall washer, so if you’re short it’s a little harder than it has to be to load the clothes, but I’ve gotten used to it. It’s better than bending over for a front load. Also, I have cabinets behind/right above my washer and the lid is so long that when I lift it, I can’t keep the lid lifted and get my detergent, etc out of the cabinet at the same time, where I didn’t have this issue with my last one. That’s just a little annoyance that I’ve had to get used to. I think my overall point is that this really is a good washing machine and I’m happy with almost all of its features, but with this and really any washer you’re looking at, take into consideration all of the measurements, not just depth, width, length. Think about how low or tall you need it to be, and anything you have near it or behind it. It will just make your life easier.
