Love this toaster! Solid, very well made and a lovely accessory to a kitchen. I love the retro feel and the quality of the components. The cancer warning on the box was of concern but it appears this is common with many items, this company is just visible With the warning

Looks great. - Toasting is a Failure

Got this toaster as a gift from wife. It looks absolutely great on the counter. But, nothing but problems with the resulting toast. The bottom 1 1/2” doesn’t toast. So I have stop the process half way through cycle and flip the toast or bagel to get it all toasted. Contact support after problems detected and they never got back to me.

Good looking - But lousy toasting

Heating element dysfunction!

I bought this toaster because the beautiful hotel we stayed in Lisbon had this at the breakfest buffet. Toasted bread excellently. I ordered one when we got home and this toaster only toasts on one side. The outer heating element works but the other side element does not. Therefore one side toasts, barely even on the highest setting. I believe it's defective and want to exchange please.

Doesn’t last and doesnt toast well.

I bought the toaster and right from the start, it would not toast one side of the bread when just one slice was inside. I got it replaced on warranty without a hassle. Within 2 years, the new SMEG toaster started doing the same thing. We toast about 10 slices a week so not a really heavy user of toasters. We have no kids so it wasnt dropped or banged or used inappropriately. This is a beautiful toaster that just doesn’t work well or last. I reached out to SMEG and didn’t even get a reply. Buy something else.

Half a Toast

It's a pretty toaster from a design perspective and I read all the reviews before I purchased it. I bought it anyway hoping for the best. Unfortunately the low reviews were right. It doesn't work well. Only toasts one side of the bread. And it's not because I have it on the bagel setting. The regular setting only toasts one side.

[Rewarded Review] Very cute toaster

I ordered the white one and it’s very cute. It looks just like the pic. I was back and forth between colors bc I like them all but kept to white because I wanted to match with other pots and appliances other than stainless steel. I gave it one less star because they sent me what looks like a return or display model instead of a new one (bloomies tends to do this a lot and doesn’t have quality control). Also the chord was tied in a knot and shoved into the box. I’m not sure why anyone would do that but it’s now bent weird and won’t straighten out.

Terrible toaster and customer service

Very disappointed in this product and Crate & Barrel customer service. The toaster does not work, barely hears up what I put in it and I have to try a few times for it to get slightly toasted. I reached out to customer service online and they said I could bring the toaster to the store to return even though I didn’t have the packaging anymore. I called the store just to make sure they agreed and I didn’t waste a trip and they said the same thing, to bring to the site and I can return. I get to the store and they turn me away immediately telling me I cannot return because I don’t have the packaging and it didn’t matter to them that I had two other of their associates tell me I could. Now I’m stuck with a toaster that doesn’t work and a kettle that matches that I don’t want anymore without the toaster.

Worst toaster I've ever purchased

This is the prettiest and worst performing toaster I've ever owned. I got three within the warranty because it toasts extremely unevenly but wanted to make it work. I kept the 3rd one even though it still toasts unevenly. Now after 2 years ish I have to throw it away because the toaster handle won't stay down. A beautiful piece of pure junk.

BOUGEE TOASTER - WORTH EVERY PENNY IN LOOKS ALONE

Just being totally honest, I bought this toaster for its upscale look and it was worth every penny. Does my waffle taste any different? Nope. Do I feel fancy eating my waffle that was toasted in my gorgeous Smeg toaster? ABSOLUTELY!!

An ode to my toaster

This looks beautiful and makes perfectly toasted breads and bagels every time. The retro look belies the smooth modern workings of this everyday appliance. We have the Smeg tea kettle as well, and they’ve created quite the wave on our counter. It’s pricey yes, but worth it IMHO.

Love it

I love this toaster. Before buying this one I tried to get a cheaper one that was also beautiful but the quality was so bad, it was “cheap to the touch”. My kitchen is kind of old so I wanted something to bright things up and make it feel a bit more beautiful. The 4 stars is because the first one they sent didn’t work well, was toasting only on one side (not on bagel mode), so that’s always a bit unnerving when you buy a $200 toaster and the first one doesn’t even work, makes you wonder how long is this one going to last... Crate and Barrel took care of it right away though, I brought it to the store and a few days later I got the new one that actually worked.

Amazing toaster!

Should have purchased these the first time . I bought cheaper toasters and they just didn’t looo great in our new kitchen. Finally purchased the and toaster and tea kettle and couldn’t be happier. These are amazing quality and work so well. Dont even think about it just get it. I decided to outside wt Nordstrom bc they always stand behind their purchases.

Stylish but faulty

Upgraded our long standing toaster for a Smeg. The stop button never worked and even on the lowest setting the toast would sometimes burn to a char. Final straw was when we were in the garden and daughter came down to find the whole house in smoke because one slice of bread had caught fire. Thankfully we were able to control the situation and put it out. It's now being sent back to JL having only had it a month. They refunded but this has put me off ever buying a Smeg product again.

Toasts Evenly

Good performance toaster, Browns both sides of bread evenly. The bagel/crumpet setting is a good touch, but not tried yet. The only design issue I have is the poor quality of the rotating setting/switch which was thin pressed metal and the whole assembly seemed loose to me. So functionality gets 5*, quality not so good for the price bracket.

I've bought this toaster off and on for several years because I find it so worth the money. It toasts very well and perfectly a slice of toast just arrived for my family's breakfast every day. The toast is toasted to the perfect temperature every time. Easy to use and easy to clean after use are also highly appreciated by me. I also love SMEG products not only because of the quality but also because of the classic yet modern design. Can't wait to get my own SMEG collection!

Lever won’t stay down!

The aesthetic of the Smeg Toaster is wonderful, however the lever on the toaster won’t stay down anymore. Although I purchase this toaster in 2021, I didn’t start using it until sometime last year in 2023. I tried contacting Smeg’s customer service for a solution. They never responded back to my last 3 emails I sent them. I tried calling them everyday at different times. No answer.

Highly Recommend

I rarely write reviews but I really love this toaster. After reading the reviews between the two and four slice, I went with this one and I’m so glad I did. It toasts evenly and everything comes out nice and hot. The crumb drawer makes for easy cleaning and it really looks nice on my counter. I like the convenience of not having to put my kitchen devices away all the time and Smeg’s sleek design adds a beautiful, modern touch to my kitchen counter. Bottom line, it’s beautiful and it works very well. I highly recommend.

PERFECTLY Toasted bread

Bought this toaster after seeing whilst on holiday. The emerald was exactly the colour I wanted so although expensive it does finish off my kitchen perfectly. I'm very very impressed with the quality and high finish. Easy to clean and the best toaster I've ever had as regards even toasting. 10/10. Ps.I also bought the kettle to match....
