Not as thick or comfortable

When I bought it I was happy because I had found a futon mattress that was thick. I left it out as per the instructions to let it fluff up from being in the vacuum sealed packaging. Our first guest had come and it was not comfortable. I tried to flip it and then we had our second set of guest come and they said it was not comfortable as well. I am very disappointed and will never buy a furon mattress from here again.

Poor quality

I ordered the full size steel gray 10 in futon mattress! It arrived quicker than it was suppose to. It came in a large box and the mattress was vacuum sealed. Once out of the box it fluffed up pretty good but NOT to 10 inches. Also the seams were fraying and it does smell weird but it's not unmanageable. All in all it was cheaply made and not worth the money.

soft, spongy sage!

sort of puffy -not as heavy, thick, or ..."sturdy" as I expected - it is very soft to sit on. I am a little concerned that dips will be left after a while -but right now - very comfy. I like the color (sage) -it is as expected.

[Rewarded Review] Flattens out too fast

I liked that it was so thick, but I didn't like that it was too thick and would flatten out so flat as soon as I sat on it. It also happened when my 15 pound dog slept on it. Its very difficult when I try to sleep on a mattress that is flattened to 2 inches where I'm trying to get a comfortable sleep. I would not recommend it.

Would not purchase again.

This futon mattress compressed from 9" (It was never the 10" as advertised) down to 5" in less than 2 months. I can feel the wood slats of the futon frame when I sit on it. I specifically order this thicker mattress to avoid this situation. What is this thing filled with that would compress that much in less than two months? Paper mulch? It's not real cotton batting I can tell you that. The stitching on two of the seams is starting to come apart. To add insult to injury, they want to charge me $** to return this thing. That's half the cost of the mattress! I would not recommend this item to anyone. I don't understand why it gets so many good reviews.

Very Thick

This futon mattress served it's purpose. It is very large and heavy and fit my futon very tightly. It was not as smooth as I would have liked. In some areas it just seemed lumpy, but overall you sleep pretty well. Because it's such a thick mattress, it was hard to place the futon in an upright position for sitting, so I mainly kept it in the sleeping position. Good purchase.

It looks nice so I'm sure it could be great but it has a terrible smell reminiscent of bug spray. Sure hope that fades quickly because it's obnoxious. I'd also note this does not come with any frame so had to spend additional money to get one. Follow up: After using this for several weeks on a futon frame as a sofa, the odor is finally gone but the mattress seems to be losing shape, saggy a bit. Not sure how long it will last.

Thinner than advertised, stinky, but reasonable.

It's ok. Not terrible. Not awesome. Just a reasonable futon. As most others have noted, these futons show up much thinner than they advertise, no matter how long they are allowed to expand once opened. I don't think mine was even vacuum sealed, just put in a regular plastic bag. This is why I ordered the "10 inch". It's 8 inches max, and about 5-6 inches once you sit/lie on it. And there is that unpleasant, possibly toxic, offgassing from some additive, probably the flame retardants that are required by the government. Oh, and weirdly, the label says that there's foam inside, but it seems to me to be 100% cotton fluff (which is what I wanted!). So, yeah, there is some deception in the marketing, and at least confusion in the product listing, but given those caveats, for me, it's a perfectly reasonable futon for sleeping/sitting on.

BEWARE OF FALSE ADVERTISING!! We thought this would be a great purchase, however, are extremely disappointed in this futon mattress. First of all, we don't see the point in the zipper which would enable you to remove the very thin fabric for cleaning purposes because what is inside - what they call a mattress - is just some sort of filler that would literally fall apart if you took it out of the cover. We were shocked at what we saw. Unfortunately for us, we did not get into our new home until after the return period was over so never unpacked it until now. With that, we decided we would just keep it and spend another $100 plus for a true zippered futon mattress cover to protect this thing from falling apart. After finding a cover we liked on-line, we needed to enter the the futon mattress thickness in inches for the proper fit - they range from 6,8,10,12 + inches. As we prepared to place our order for a cover that would fit a 10" mattress, we thought we better measure the Blazing Needles product to be certain it is indeed 10 inches as the ad states. We were not surprised to find it MEASURES ONLY EIGHT INCHES!! Complete deception and utter disappointment. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND ARE VERY DISPLEASED WE ARE NOW STUCK WITH IT NOT TO MENTION OUT $130 PLUS THE COST OF ANOTHER COVER.

I would definitely recommend this mattress

I bought this to replace the mattress for the futon in our den. I was a little skeptical just because I've never bought a mattress online before. I like to be able to lay on it and feel the quality of the material in person. However, since I know the quality of the merchandise that Overstock sells, I took a chance. I'm really glad that I ordered this mattress. The quality and thickness of it exceeded my expectations and price was excellent.

Good Quality for the Price

After a few months of use, I will say this is a good futon mattress. I used this daily in my living room on a metal frame as a couch and for occasional overnight guests. It's comfortable for sitting or sleeping and has worn well. There is some pilling on the fabric but stains come up easy. It has compressed some, so I have flipped and turned it a few times (every 3 or 4 weeks) to keep wear even. The natural color is nice and neutral. I would definitely recommend this mattress.
