Bummer

So disappointed. I set my machine up 3 days ago. I’ve gotten 4 great shots out of it. Today, it no longer works. Everything on the machine works but it will no longer push water through the porta filter when there is espresso in it. I have spent the last 3 hours watching and reading about how to trouble shoot this. I also have barista experience, so I know what to do when a machine is clogged. Nothing will fix it. The next option is seeing if the brew valve is damaged and I don’t know how to do that. I didn’t get the machine to have to tinker with it constantly. I’m not sure if I got a faulty machine or if constant maintenance and tinkering is just par for the course with this machine. Either way this thing is going back. Also to note the design is weird. Unless you mount this to your counter you are going to need to hold the machine with one hand while you remove the basket. Because of the weight of the machine there is only one place to put your hand and that is right where the buttons are. It’s easy enough to stop the water if you turn it on when pulling out the basket, but it’s just so annoying.

Disappointed Customer

Unfortunately the machine had a fault, the pump did not work . I returned it within 24 hours and was fully refunded. The staff were excellent both from Myers and Delongi. The machine was very smart looking , however, I found it aside from having a fault, the materials used to be inferior to say the Breville. To summarise I was disappointed, but as it was faulty it would be unfair to say that this product is not worth a second look. The price point accounts for the materials used., hence you get what you pay for!

This is the second purchase I have made with Direct Vacuums. First purchase was a microwave. On both purchases I have been very pleased with. Both items were described as ‘as new condition’ and in both cases these items were actually new. Still sealed in original packaging etc. Clearly not opened or used. And in both cases prices were great. Our last item was £50.00 cheaper than elsewhere. I highly recommend this company and I believe they give an honest description of items. I will certainly try and use again.

Not Great

We bought this from John Lewis. Net result is that no longer will we buy anything from John Lewis or from Delonghi. Basically the unit either does not make enough pressure to force the water through the coffee. When it does the coffee is not really any good John Lewis refused to take it back. Delonghi would not replace and reluctantly repaired it (allegedly) and sent it back. That took 2 weeks So we have an expensive unit, 270quid (Now I see price is down to 170) that does not work. We will try sending it back again I guess.

Terrific Starter Espresso Machine

This was my 2nd "beginner" DeLonghi espresso machine -- for me a solid upgrade from the mostly plastic but steady ECPxxx that lasted 6 years(!) -- did everything better (e.g, frother which quit after a few years on the ECP) but the motor/pump died after 1 year. And as a refurb i was s.o.l. in getting it fixed. Beware refurbs. Good machine -- just buy it on a card that 2x the reg warranty.

[Rewarded Review] Quality just isn't there...

We had a De'Longhi EC600 that worked fantastic and lasted many many years. When it came time to replace it, we thought we'd upgrade to the EC885. Unfortunately, we found this version to be far noisier and it didn't make as good tasting espresso. Same beans we've always used, but the coffee was flatter and more bitter. We tried a number of different methods, and the quality didn't improve. I would pay more for this machine if it was better made and worked well.

Outside feels cheap but it works great!

I was used to a Cafe (GE brand) combo semi manual latte maker but it does after only a year and a half, which irritated be to no end given how much it was. So I'm giving this one a try with a much longer warranty. Longer warranty tells me the company stands by their product, which GE did not with its one year warranty. The outside of this Dedica Arte is plastic (I think) so it feels kind of cheap to the touch, but I didn't buy it for looks/feel. As long as it continues to work great, I'm happy!

Safety:has SIRIM ST label at the bottom of the machine. this gives assurance that it is safe to use in malaysia type voltage. has 1 hot boiler so better to use SIRIM certified electrical appliance. has separate on/off switch which is safer. has boiler over-heating safety indicator.

Updated review

Increasing review to 3 stars. After a few days of experimentation I am finally able to get a good cup of espresso to brew, including a bit of crema (still havent gotten it quite right, but much closer).

Doesn’t brew good espresso or make good foam.

Initial results using this machine have been pour. I upgraded from a different Delonghi espresso machine that seemed to have a manufacturer defect (2 different machines, same failure after about 500 shots).

Good Product So Far

This is my first ever espresso maker. I like it so far. I'm finding the basket required form pressure to lock into place, so much so that I really have to drop the top of the entire machine to get the right "torque."

Very poor product.

I bought this exactly 13 months ago, Last week, it stopped working having the 3 lights flashing together. I took it to maintenance center provided by the warranty. After one week I received a message saying it is ready to collect. When I asked what was the issue they told me it was over heating. I took it home and tried the machine, now the machine does not switch off automatically where it should and the water pressure is low ( it drips, coffee does not flow) . I don’t recommend this machine to anyone. They are asking me to take it back to the service center which is 45 minutes drive from where I live, to drive there 4 times in couple of weeks, means spending my days off driving back and forward . Very poor product and poor customer service.

Not working after 10 uses.

Our dedica machine stopped working after only 10 uses. We discovered that the right angle generator connection part was cracked after taking the machine apart. We ordered the part online for 10 dollars and another 33 dollars for shipping. We replaced the part but it still isn't working. We bought this machine because we own another Delonghi that has been working for 10 years and we have been happy with it. We feel badly about the waste (environmental waste and $) of a broken machine after such a short time.

It makes the best cappuccino that I have ever made at home

So I got my new Kitchen Aid espresso maker delivered yesterday. It looks great and works beautifully. Once I got it unpacked I tried a couple of test shots with my normal coffee. I have to say that it makes the best cappuccino that I have ever made at home. I have been making cappuccino at home for many years, with a variety of different machines but this is the best so far. Totally delicious. I can only hope it continues to do this, coffee is my treat of the day, and a really good cup of coffee is the best way to start the day well.

Feels like someone's defective return.

Click and collect. Was in a rush so didn't get to inspect until much later in the day. Noticed the outer box pull tab looked worn/used. The basket in the single cup area uneder the box flap was a double (so I have 2x doubles now). The manuals were not neatly packed and strewn and bent inside the box between the foam and corner of the box. The steam wand cleaner was loose. Apart from the single basket, all other parts seemed to be present but the cup warmer platform is bent down at an angle into the body on one side (kind of impossible to do in transit given the packaging) and the steam wand spits drops of hot water onto my hand from the part where it comes out of the main body area while steaming milk. I'd return it but I'm just so tired of stuff like this happening that I can't be bothered. I completely skipped the angry phase and immediately went to dissappointed. I really hope it's just some unfortunate oversight and not some store policy that allows this kind of thing to happen. FYI, the coffee it makes is great I just scald my hand from the dripping hot water

Lower quality espresso machine

I had another Delonghi coffee machine (EC860M) that was offered to me as a gift. It was an older model and I did not use some of the fonction. I wanted a smaller and simpler espresso machine therefore the reason I bought the Dedica EC885M.I find my new espresso machine to be of poor quality, very light and the material used for the construction of the machine of lower grade. The machine does not feel sturdy. The portafilter is very light and every time I connect the handle to the group head I have to be careful to hold down the machine firmly which I did not have to do with the older model.

Great for the price

Agonized over what espresso machine was “right” (specifically figuring out a happy medium between the moka pot purists vs those who say don’t get out of bed for a machine less than $2000) and after a month we’re so happy - decent and reliable espresso, not terribly difficult to get dialed in as a first time espresso maker owner, easy to operate and clean. The steamer wand is incredible and really elevates. Also takes up impressively little counter space.
