When it comes to shower pans and sliding doors, precision is key. The Pan was not level so we had to make accommodations to get a level for slide. The translated directions were weak. But I have a great contractor!

The “center” drain is NOT in the center.

Solid & Well Made Shower Pan

DreamLine dimensions are spot on. I purchased the 42" wide (threshold) by 36" deep pan with center drain and installed with mortar after installing a few shims to level it out. The pan is sized just right and very solid fiberglass+ construction. I used about 2/3 bag of mortar, rather wet mixture, but it worked well. Once set, this pan is solid with no movement. Per DreamLine installation instructions, I did not screw the pan to the wall studs. With the tight fit and mortar, the pan does not move. I purchased the pan through Ferguson's since pricing was pretty standard and shipping was free. Highly recommended. TS

After researching so many different shower pans I decided on Transolid because it seemed better built. Transolid did not disappoint. Very sturdy and just the right amount of traction provided so the floor is not slippery. The drain came with it as did the stainless steel square cover. Looks awesome!

Dimensions are misleading.

The specs state that the nominal width is the measurement from left to right. I took that to mean that if I am standing at the threshold where the shower door would be, the pan would be 36" across (left to right) and 42" deep. That is not the case. The pan is actually 42" across the threshold and 36" deep.

Install it correctly

I’ve been in the Kitchen and bath business for over 43 years. I’ve read reviews about the base cracking and moving. If you set the base in either Structo-Lite or a mix of mortar, let dry. It will be solid as a mud base. Do not drill holes into lip to secure to studs. Just put exterior screws with SS washers just above lip and tighten to hold.

It's OKAY

I bought this base for my shower renovation. I chose it as it fit my budget range and I wanted a base that was easy to clean. The drain was supposed to be centred, and when I uncrated it, the drain was not where it was supposed to be. When it comes to shower bases you get what you pay for. When I step on the base, it sounds hollow and feels hollow and not to mention cheap. If you prefer a more solid shower floor, this is not your answer. If I could go back, I would prefer either a custom built shower base or have my contractor tile in a base for me.

Perfect fit, easy to install. Solid pan. Installed it on the second floor in our house following the instructions and super happy with the end result. Wish the pan would come with a temporary protective film which would make keeping it all clean during the remaining remodeling steps (tiling, grouting) a bit easier. Other than that, no complaints.

Seems like a solid product. I did screw down a 1/4 hardie backer board to the subfloor. I put the mortar mix on the backer board, so I wouldn't destroy the subfloor, in case I ever had to take it out. Used almost the whole 80 lbs bag of mortar under it. There a couple good videos of this base being installed. Watched them and used the best tips from them.

This was a very difficult installation. Partly my fault. I read that it was centered and didn't read far enough to know that it's not truly centered. It's only centered in one direction. For some reason which eludes me it's off centered the other direction. This presented a huge issue as it aligned with my floor joist. It took some very creative construction to make this work. I did check other manufactureers and this seems to be an industry standard. Construction is pretty good. I noticed that the corners chip pretty easily, so use allot of care. Had I been able to put it in once, I don't think it would have been an issue. Because we had to modify the floor joist and put it in and take it out a few times, there was extra wear and tear on it. So as long as your drain will match up, this is a great floor pan for the price.

Dream Line shower base

The first shower base that I received was warped and needles to say I was very disappointed. I called the manufacturer and sent them pics of the base. By the end of the day they said they would send a new base. With in a week I had the new base. I was very pleased with costumer service. I was delayed by a week on my project but was happy that Dream Line stood by their product. I am now looking to purchase a Dream Line shower door.

It would have been nice if the corner wasn't dinged up (far right if in place). I can see how it may happen, as the lip around the pan is pretty delicate relative to the actual pan itself. Now, I'm able to live with it given the backer board/tile will cover it up, but still - kinda sucked. Also, wear work gloves when handling this thing - the back fiberglass will nip you when you least expect it.

Fit perfectly

Am in the process of remodeling our bathroom that has an old mauve colored tub surround. This update will create a larger footprint and more modern look. Placed the order and it arrived a day early of the expected delivery date. Packaging was in good shape and the shower pan was well packaged and free of any damage. After prepping the install site and testing for fit the installation went smoothly and and so far it looks wonderful. I am very satisfied with this product, sizing options, and the price didnt break the bank.

Awesome shower base

I was totally satisfied with my experience with Lowe’s and order in this new black shower base. Beginning with the store associate to help me online selecting fine what would work best for me and my new project. Once ordered and given a delivery date, I received an email to days early stating that my shower base was in and ready for pick up. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the shower base. The slick clean cut lines make the base stand shine! The texture floor is this enough to give your feet a massage while showering. Can’t wait to finish my new shower!

Very please with special order. Delivered on time and well protected. Installation was easy to follow. READ the dims and drain opening location before you install. Use motar to made the base solid. I used the compression fit drain to the 2 inch drain pipe. Use your level before and after. Installation time 30 to 40 mins including mixing the motar.

i wrote a negative review last week and it mysteriously disappeared! be warned! the threshold from this latest model (curb height) is extremely shallow with a little over an inch. it may not work out with a shower curtain! why is the threshold made so low? it was almost 2 inches with the last model.

This shower base was delivered undamaged in a well designed box. It's heavy! Installation is easy. I used basic sand mortar on the subfloor. I recommend you do a more thorough job than I did. Make sure you spread about 1" of mortar over the entire are that the base will cover, especially under the threshold area. Fortunately I had access to this area from the side after the shower was built and was able to use canned insulation to fill the gap which I had left ( great stuff indeed!). There's enough flex in the rim area of the base to allow some movement away from the tile and grout at the bottom of the wall. Again, fortunately it squeaked and got my attention before any harm was done.

Misleading Specifications

I am only giving this base two stars because the HD specifications are misleading. The base I ordered from HD is 36 X 48 with a center drain. The HD specification page says the drain location is "Centered." That is not correct. Half of 36 inches is 18 inches. However, actual distance of the drain from the rear side is only 15 inches. This confusion may be partly the fault of me not contacting the manufacture and only depending on HD's website write-up. I will have to return the base.

Quality Product - DIY'er please read

So we purchased a house with a basement bathroom all roughed in. We decided to finish it off ourselves and this shower base was the first step in the project. This shower base was priced right but had only one review. So I thought I would let everyone know how it went. We had it delivered to the store and was shipped fairly quickly. The shower base was packaged very well, well beyond what we expected. When you open the package you will see right off that it is of quality material. It felt strong, not flimsy like others I have held. The dimensions are correct. Simply line up your drain, make sure it is level and place some thin set on the floor. We used about 3/4 of a bag of thin set. Like I said the shower pan is well built and the thin set makes this solid. There are no screws or brackets. The sheet rock sits on the very top lip around the edges and then there is a second lip where your tile or wall surround will sit into . The only issue we had was the install instructions on Home Depot web site were different from what came with the shower. The only difference was the drain location measurements. If you are doing new construction or are able to get to the drain from below like in a basement ceiling this will be perfect for you. Our drain was in the concrete so we had to find the right drain. We went with the Sioux Chief 2 in. PVC Shower Drain with Strainer Model # 828-2PK. Simply screw on the bottom part of the drain to the bottom of the pan and tighten. Then once the shower is in place you screw the gasket down onto the pipe and you are done. The drain was the hardest thing for us again because the pipes were already buried under the ground. You will not be disappointed with this shower pan!
