Makes great frozen treats
My husband surprised me with this machine. I had been on the fence about buying one for awhile and I am so glad you bought it for me. It works fast, quiet, and effortlessly to make creamy decadent fozen desserts with pure ingredients. Nothing added like in store bought ice creams. And I am so excited to try to incubate my own yogurt, too.
Compact Yet Powerful
The Whynter ICM-220SSY is about the size of a breadmaker while still being capable of freezing ice cream in about an hour.
So Easy!
I'm replacing a freezer bowl ice cream maker. I never used it much because of the space the bowls took up and the pre-planning involved to get them frozen. With the Whynter ice cream maker, I can fire it up when the mood strikes! Plus, the ice cream doesn't cake to the side of the bowl, so I don't have to work for an hour to chisel it off. A keeper!
Product is of high quaility, sleek and looks great on the kitchen counter. Have not tried the ice maker yet but will do so sometime today. This ice cream maker is one of the best products recommended.

Love it! I shopped around for quite awhile before settling on this brand / model. Makes yogurt or ice cream. We love to mix up the recipes and experiment with flavors. Last weekend we made half vanilla, half cherry-chocolate chunk. Best part is that I feel like we have control over how much fat and sugar is in our dessert. Oh, and it doesn't hurt my feelings at all that I have almost half a gallon of fresh ice cream ready to eat in less than 90 minutes. My favorite recipe includes using a can of sweetened condensed milk instead of sugar. No sugary lumps. Yummy!!! ; )

This ice cream maker is incredible, when teamed up with a vitamix blender, which heats up and pasteurizes eggs and milk. ~6 minutes of prep time to make incredible ice cream. My favorite kitchen appliance.
The Best Thing in My Kitchen
I use this machine daily, often multiple times. It is so easy to use and does its job quickly without requiring me to think ahead to freeze a bowl and then wait for it to refreeze. My only wish is that it would have come with an additional bowl and blade.

I bought this for my wife for her birthday. She loves ice cream, we had talked about making our own and she promptly announced she was going to find a recipe for healthy ice cream (which seemed a contradiction in terms), which she's still looking for. Due to that, we haven't used it yet, but it appears to be a high quality, very well built machine and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Very Good Machine
Very satisfied with the unit. Easy to use and simple instructions. I have read most of the reviews and so far disagree with all the negative ones. The unit will freeze 1 quart of prepared cream in less than a half hour (not solid obviously, but to a soft serve consistence). The concept of not having to deal with ice and salt is the prime reason for my use. So far, all the recipes I have tried have had no problem. Fruit, chocolate bits, peppermint pieces all get stirred in equally.
Great machine
I bought this item a few months ago. I read complaints about the plastic gear stripping and not driving the ice cream bucket, but this machine has steel gears so no worries there. One other complaint I read was it only had a 1 quart capacity, what people forget is with 4 cups of ingredients, it will expand when frozen to fill the 2 quart capacity. My son and I have a lot of fun experimenting with different flavors of ice cream. Be realistic on what is used to make ice cream, don’t expect to make a great texture ice cream from low fat or non fat milk, best to use heavy creams and whole milk. You won’t regret this purchase.
Works great!
Makes terrific ice cream! I have not used the yogurt function since I use my IP for that. Big foot print so check your dimensions to ensure it will work for where you want it. Dairy and egg allergies in the household so purchased this to make vegan ice cream and it handles it beautifully!
Easy, Excellent yogurt and ice cream
I never thought I would make my own yogurt or ice cream, but this machine makes it so accessible. The operating menus are easy to navigate, the unit feels and sounds well-built, and I have been making yogurt and ice cream for a few months with it now without any problems.
Finally an easy way for homemade ice cream!
I have tried several ice cream makers but they were always such a pain to use-ice, salt, and waiting was just too much of a process for me. So, when I saw this on Costco's website I was elated! You literally mix the ingredients, dump them in, and in an hour you have perfect homemade ice cream. Some people said "it is loud" but it just makes a whirring sound and that's it. I wouldn't want it sitting next to me while I was watching TV, but the convenience of it makes that a no big deal to me. Well worth it, and all of my friends said, "Wait, THAT'S an ice cream maker?" and loved it. Fast, easy, easy to clean (no dishwasher!) and the shape/size is storable. I am going to try to find additional stainless steel removable bowls though so I can get another load going while the other one is being eaten!
So far, so good!
I read many reviews regarding ice cream makers before deciding on the Whynter. I've made both ice cream and yogurt, and found the machine to be easy to use and clean. The ice cream is very good and I'm looking forward to trying some frozen yogurt. I would recommend this machine...
Excellent ice cream and yogurt
We bought this about a month ago and have been very happy that we did. It is very easy to use. The yogurt we have made has been very good and nearly as good as we made by hand in smaller batches. The ice cream has been smoother, creamier, an overall better than that made in our ice and salt ice cream mixer (although the old fashion mixer is good for kids to learn first principles of freezing, the interaction of salt, ice, and freezing point, etc.). Our only concern is that unless the handle on the SS container is depressed when turning the container, plastic is scraped off the outer ring and into the product t being made. Hopefully, the long term reliability will be there.
World peace: solved!
I'm so happy I didn't opt for the $50 beginner ice cream maker. I went right to the top. After making about 10 batches of fresh raspberry ice cream I am convinced this could be the answer to world peace. Let's all get together and eat as much of this delicious ice cream as we can! Also: New Favorite is blueberry custard ice cream. Found the recipe online. You won't believe how good it is! The custard variety is worth the time it takes to make it. If you make a double batch you can eat all of the batter from the first batch and you'll still have more to get to the frozen stage. Oh yeah, it's that good.
Homemade Ice Cream!
I bought this because ice cream sold in stores has become awful! This machine is easy to use and does a fantastic job of making delicious ice cream that is wonderful to eat! The controls are easy to understand and allow for adding extra time to churn and freeze based on recipes with more or less liquid, etc. I bought 3 recipe books for ice cream and sorbet and have been experimenting with ingredients. The results have been phenomenal and this machine makes it easy! No more store bought ice cream for us!!! Our fave? Fresh Peach Ice Cream. . . OMG! Delish!
It’s a beauty!
We absolutely love our ice cream maker, have used it several times using different recipes. Everything has been a great hit! Haven’t tried the yogurt feature just yet but we are sure to love and enjoy it just as much. This unit freezes faster than I thought it would, takes just a little longer than a half hour. If you want it to set up harder, transfer to another dish and putting it in the freezer for an hour or so! YUMMY!
Great ice cream maker
I bought this over 6 months ago and used it several times. I love that I don't have to freeze the bowl to make ice cream. It's ready when you are and you can clean the bowl and beater and do it again right away. I found it works best with custard ice cream. I have several ice cream makers and this is my favorite.
Love it!!
We have had this for 3 months now and we love it. We use it for making ice cream and yogurt. We often forget the yogurt after putting it in there and the best part is that after the yogurt is set, the machine keeps it cool even overnight and the yogurt is perfect each time!! Great investment!!
