The perfect size!
I love this pan. The 4 qt size is perfect for creating dishes for 2 people but large enough to squeeze one or two more servings in if needed. It can go from stove top to oven and cleans up beautifully. I’ve waited a long time for this pan…no regrets whatsoever!
Disappointed with Service
How can I review a gift item that was undeliverable? The recipient had moved, unbeknownst to me with no forwarding address, and returned to All Clad. When I called after accessing tracking information to inquire was advised there was no forwarding address. Told representative to cancel order and credit my account. No notification from All-Clad as to why order was returned to vendor, nor any notification as to credit. Not very professional. As a side note: have been a long term user of All/Clad products which are the BEST. Just disappointed that the service department hasn’t met the same level of professional service.
d3 4 qt stainless saute pan
4 qt saute pan was an excellent addition to my all-clad collection. It has approx 10 inches of contact area with gas burner. Plenty of room to build a sauce that starts with sautéing a large amount of vegetables.
Perfect size, but shape not what I was expecting
I'm still using the same 10-piece All-Clad set that I purchased at Bloomingdale's in 1996, and I love it, it still looks new. Although I already own a 5-quart saute pan made by another brand, when I saw the made-in-the-USA All-Clad 6-quart pan on sale, I purchased it. The pan is smooth and beautiful and has a good weight. The lid fits snugly. I've made one-pot meals and stir fries, seared two 15-ounce rib eyes with plenty of room to promote browning and prevent steaming, and moved the pan from stovetop to oven to melt or brown cheese. Unfortunately, hand washing this pan can be a bit messy. It's advertised as having straight sides, and that's true until the top edge, which has a curve. When rinsing the bottom of the pan, water catches in the flared lip and can spray outside the sink area (splash guard, counter, my shirt). Perhaps the curve was designed to allow items to slide out of the pan easily, like eggs or pancakes, but I'd prefer a straight edge.
I had this pan in my collection, but it was a limited edition with a coating. When we bought an induction stove, my favorite pan no longer worked. I bought this pan which works perfectly with the new stovetop, and just love it. Like all the All Clad products I own, this pan is amazing quality, conducts heat beautifully and is so easy to clean. It is also roomy for larger quantities of food. Highly recommend.
Why have I not had this my entire life? I feel like the "big" pans have always been too small. Here, I have finally found a pan that I can cook in, and not feel like my food is going to spill over the edges if I make one wrong move while stirring! I love this thing!
Love This Pan
Finally treated myself to an All Clad pan! Beautiful pan. Quality compared to other products is evident. Large enough to brown 4 large pork chops at once. Love it. Worth every penny!
Another addition to my 30+ year D3 collection
As a retired couple, I LOVE this saute pan for making one-dish meals (such as goulash!) that last for 2 meals, as well as cooking up two meals' worth of chicken for us. I have quite a few pieces of D3 and have used All-Clad for about 40 years, and assure everyone that using lower heat is the secret to cooking everything, except boiling water for pasta. The older I get the more I appreciate that this product does not leach into our food! My All-Clad will be handed down one day!
All Clad pans speak for themselves. All are high quality and a pleasure to cook with. We have had our eyes on this large saute pan for awhile. Pricey but perfect for large dishes that overflow frypans. This is the 12th piece in our All Clad collection. We had an excellent purchase and delivery experience with this retailer.
Simply the best there is!
Purchased the 2 qt saute pan to add to my other All-Clad pieces. They're the last pans I'll ever buy and definitely worth the money - they cook evenly, don't warp like others, are sturdy and still look new even after 2 years! (I wash them by hand even though they are dishwasher safe). They are gorgeous pans and I can't say enough about them. I only wish I would have known about them years ago!
I had an All-Clad 3-qt Stainless sauté pan, which I used constantly. When All-Clad came out with Copper Core I got a 4-qt version and gave my son the 3-qt pan. I loved the 4-qt but the first issue of Copper Core does not work on induction burners, which is what I now use. (Current Copper Core does.) So I passed the 4-qt Copper Core along to another family member and bought the d3 4-qt sauté pan. (I prefer d3 to d5 because d3 is lighter and does a fine job.) I give this history because I find this pan format wonderfully useful for all sorts of dishes and use it very frequently.
Not worth it
This was a Christmas gift along with 4 other all clad pots. After the first use of making veggies in olive oil and garlic and using a coated non stick utensil veggies stuck. I washed in hot water and soap, didn't come clean. I used the back of sponge nylon cleaner and noticed small scractches. I sent email to company and was told warranty doesn't cover scratches and after using may occur. Have had to use bar keepers to really clean other pots otherwise leaves film.
New to Stainless? Learn beforehand
I wanted a high quality stainless steel pan as my first "adult" cookware. This is a great pan and does what it says - heats the whole pan quickly and evenly.
Saute Pans Are Not Skillets!
Saute pans have higher sides for two very good reasons: 1) Sautéing tends to be a splattery proposition and the higher sides help limit the mess. 2) The higher sides help retain moisture. They also have more cooking area than the equivalent size skillet with its smaller flat cooking space and flared sides. On the other hand, I would never recommend a saute' pan for an omelet or frittata because it would be too difficult to get underneath it cleanly.
