Ok toilet. Poor on noise due to loud “whistling “ during fill cycle…unacceptable. In addition, it required two deliveries from Kohler to get a toilet that was’t damaged on arrival. Fortunately, Home Depot identified the damage upon delivery to their store. However installation as delayed.
I have owned Kohler Memoirs toilets since 2005. Best quality for your money. However, order double, because at least one or more is broken during shipping. Why? I don't know. But I love this toilet so I'll keep re-ordering until they get it right.
First time I purchased this item, plus delivery, plus installation, Home Depot canceled the order and returned the toilet to the manufacturer because it arrived damaged to Home Depot. I reordered the same item, had it delivered and installed for entirely too much money and it is fine. I still have not received the refund for the first canceled order of this item. Have had to open a dispute through PayPal and will have to file a formal complaint with the NC State Attorney General to get the refund, Don’t buy anything whatsoever from Home Depot. They do this non-refund all the time. Am also told I have to extract the installation fee for the canceled order from the partner company, ARS, that does the installation. This has been dragging on for a month with no resolution. Too much money to pay twice for the one stupid toilet, wish I had never purchased it from Home Depot.
Still waiting for an unbroken bowl
As of 7-3-2024 the third one has arrived at Lowes. The manager promised me to open the two boxes and check for damage. The previous two I have picked up had broken bowls. I don't think Lowes is breaking them, they get them broken from the wholesaler. So if you order one, check it out in the store. The Kohler packaging is a cardboard box around the bowl, no foam, nothing to take any impact.
It's in the name, but this is a stately looking toilet. I am almost done with a bathroom remodel and this toilet and the matching bidet are gorgeous together. I put a black toilet seat on this toilet for some vintage flare. The height is, in fact, comfortable, and the elongated bowl is spacious. The 1.6gpf might not conserve water, but I've never had a clogged toilet with 1.6gpf. Overall a great toilet and perfect for any bathroom, but especially lovely in bathrooms with vintage details.
Pick up the unit yourself after opening the box
one of the base ceramic pieces was delivered in pieces, you could here it as the drivers unloaded the box. it should have never been sent, causing me to spend 4 hours to find another unit in stock at another Lowes store which I had to go pickup. I paid $99 for delivery and then spent my own gas and time finding a unit at a store. The toilet works fine
Toilet looks nice but they (FedEx delivery) left the delivery at the base of the first floor landing. No notice was left at our place as to where they left it or why they did not deliver to our door! I had to have my wife help me carry the two heavy boxes up the stairs to our place on the second floor. This was one of the reasons we bought this item through Wayfair vs. Lowe’s, to have it delivered to our front door!!!
We have this toilet in another bathroom. Its wonderful. We decided to change out another toilet in our house with this toilet. After 2 attempts - first attempt, the bowel was basically missing and shattered, with the tank completely cracked. Second delivery, the base had 4 cracks at the drain and an epoxy was applied to apparently seal the cracks, which ran down the side and hardened. How do these broken items get boxed and shipped? None of the boxes had any indication of damage. So disappointing. Did not try a third time. Purchased from my plumber instead.
I’ve purchased three of these toilets in the past, for a past home. Very happy with the look, install and operation. Same flush rate as previous units but, only have to flush once now.
In my opinion, one of Kohler's nicer toilets. Who would think of a toilet as a style statement! But I do. I looked at many toilets before selecting this one. It can go with a modern or traditional bathroom... in my opinion. My bathroom is very modern. I also like that it is 1.6 gpf instead of 1.25... just a little more water to flush things down. It really is a beauty, it is heavy (per my plumber)... and works very well!
This Kohler Memoirs Toilet is beautiful. We had trouble getting a toilet that was defect free from Kohler. NOT Wayfair's fault. Kohler has work to do with their quality control processes. Wayfair came through and made it right by replacing the flawed toilets till we received a good one. The toilet we have is a 5 star, the flawed ones we returned 3 stars.
I ordered one of these toilets several years ago & I love it! It functions really well but it’s pretty
Great toilet. It arrived on time, undamaged and with all the parts. Before installing it, ensure your plumber brings with him the thickest wax "donut" and the correct length water value (stem or flex) for the best results/ look. The height is ADA-compatible. I ordered this classic toilet for a client's first-floor powder room to be in place once she returned home from knee surgery. Height-wise, you must be at least 5" 4 for your feet to touch the ground!!! If a toilet can be handsome- this one is it!
The original order came in broken in pieces. I sent you a pic of the damage and you sent me a replacement. I was sure the toilet was OK until the plumber spotted a crack in the tail piece and when he handled it the piece broke off. This would be the 3rd toilet bowel for the 1.6 gpf that would be shipped. I am frustrated I even have to go thru this again. All I need is the toilet. Not the entire tank and toilet. I had no idea the product gets packaged the way it does and gets handled the way it does ONLY to show up broken and unusable. I don't know what to say. I am at a loss. I need the toilet for the 1.6 gpf. Here is the picture below. The other toilet is the 1.2 gpf for the powder room that is now installed. The one to the left is the 1.6gpf.
Great Toilet!
We've really been impressed by this toilet. For one, it actually holds some water in the bowl, so solid waste is immediately submerged - limiting the odor. The flush is superb, cleaning out anything I've dealt it so far (2 weeks) with ease!

The toilet was advertised as a 12 inch Rough-in. When installed, it had 2 inches from the wall. I purchased 2 of them. The toilet was a 10 inch rough-in. The problem was with the manufacturer not Home Depot. I return them to Home Depot. While doing that, I ran into someone who is also returning the same product for the same reason. I've used Kohler for years... Tried others and always return to Kohler. This particular model is a classic. There are similar designs out there, but Kohler did this one just right. I've put this same model in several homes we've owned and recommended it to my clients. It always impresses and looks so much better installed than any photo I've seen. It elevates the look of any restroom. Beyond that, you get Kohler's excellent engineering in design and function. It flushes with determination and refills quickly. Installation is easy -- like most any toilet install. Nothing to say too much there except if you've installed any other toilet, this will be utterly familiar to you. Purchase with confidence. I was concerned about shipping since these could crack and break easily. This particular model is heavy. but Wayfair did an excellent job packaging the factory boxes in boxes and everything arrived perfect. The price was great too.
[Rewarded Review] DO NOT PLUNGE!
I read the reviews on several sites and it seemed that this toilet was a decent flusher. I’ve had it for a week and I was able to plug it up quite nicely (I’m a big guy). No foreign objects in the toilet except paper. I wouldn’t knock the toilet for that (I accept responsibility for my clogs). What I discovered may be a deal breaker and I feel the need to share my experience. Fortunately everything went out of the bowel (nothing visible), but it was well and truly clogged. I tried a second flush – no joy. The bowel was now mostly filled. It was draining VERY slowly. I got my trusty Corky plunger out and aimed the flange as much towards the opening as possible. The first plunge caused the toilet to flush again which caused it to overflow. The bowel filler continued to add to the flood. Any additional plunging caused it to flush again. The flood was getting biblical. I eventually popped off the lid and stopped the filler. I tried another plunge and saw the Canister lift up and flush once again. I finally held both the canister and the filler down and one good plunge freed the blockage. The canister seems to work quite well for flushing, but it’s a poor, poor design for plunging. Having such a high water level in the bowel exacerbates the backflow.

Do yourself a favor and buy the 1.6 GPF model! After adding a long-awaited second bath to our home we took the advice of the plumbing supply place and went with a 1.28 GPF...it never saved us water. Even with two of us in the house we’d wait to use the ‘real’ bathroom instead of the expensive add-on that was quite beautiful with the Kohler memoirs pedestal and toilet but it just didn’t flush well. Cleaning it and there were regularly blue stripes of cleanser left in the bowl because water doesn’t hit all the surface area. I contacted Kohler to ask if we could simply replace the tank, and while that wasn’t an option- it still likely wouldn’t have cleared the bowl. Fast forward 7 years and I wanted to take a sledgehammer to our 1.28. Having exhausted our options, we re-invested in a 1.6 memoirs and had it shipped from HD. Took 2! days to get to us and our plumber put it in a week later. (He promised to sledge the old one for me) It’s PERFECT!! The power of the flush is amazing, even better than our first Kohler we have in our other bath and it is easy to clean!!! Buy it! It’s gorgeous!

A beautiful, well functioning toilet. I chose the 1.6 gal model because of the larger "water spot" - the 1.2 gal models (all of them, not just Kohler) can be difficult to keep clean. Our plumber endorsed the Kohler toilets and said he has them at his own home too. WARNING: this product is VERY prone to shipping damage. The first one I ordered arrived at the store damaged; replacement product also arrived damaged; third one was OK. Kohler needs to seriously upgrade their packing materials for the toilets (or else HD needs to quit dropping them off the back of the truck :)). Home Depot was friendly and responsive (the HD employees at the customer service desk said that damaged toilets were a daily occurrence) but it did create weeks of delay. Strongly recommend you have the toilet shipped to an HD store, NOT to your home, to streamline the resolution of shipping damage. Inspect it carefully before leaving the store!
