Great small bare bones fridge

We got this at a great sale price at Lowe’s when our regular refrigerator died and probably because no one wanted white! I am tired of spending over $1000 for features and electronics I don’t want. When we purchased on sale this fridge was just under $400. Sorry to see the price has gone up. The only thing we miss is an ice maker. Would recommend.

Great replacement for Gas fridge in RV

The gas absorption refrigerator in my 2007 Winnebago Access 29T finally gave out and I was not keen on another gas absorption being they start at $1500 and I feel they never really get cold enough. This Haier is larger so it took a little wood working and was a tight squeeze but it fit into the existing (modified) space. I also added cooling fans to help suck in cool air and blow out the hot air in the top of the fridge enclosure. They turn on whenever a temp probe mounted near the compressor reaches 35 degrees C (95 F). I also removed the standing drain pan from on top of the compressor for the freezer defrost and diverted the water via a tube outside of the RV. And of course rigged up some basic door latches with 3M double sided tape so the doors don't come flying open as we drive down the road.

Refrigerator does not cool properly

I purchased this refrigerator for a tenant last month, September 10th, and it was delivered September 15th. After a few days, my tenant informed me it wasn’t cooling sufficiently well. He changed the setting to make it colder and he said that adjustment made no improvement and that it started making a clanging noise. I contacted service and a technician arrived today.

Not even a full year

Do not buy this fridge. We ordered this in July of 2022 it is now June 2023. This isn’t the first issue we have had but it was easily fixed the first time. Now the freezer seems to be over freezing everything and the fridge part isn’t getting cold on any setting. So we cleaned the coils of ice like it said checked the fan. None of the troubleshooting suggestions worked. So now we have a fridge not even a year that doesn’t work. All food in fridge went bad and food is not cheap it’s getting more expensive. So yea do not buy this fridge save yourself the headache and buy something else

really bad

Has needed two service calls less than six months after purchase. If I turn it up cold enough to make ice, it freezes stuff in the bottom. If I turn it down so it doesn't freeze stuff in the bottom, it won't make ice. Condensation forms on the outside when the weather is humid. Condensation forms inside the fridge when the weather is hot. Exterior finish is coming off and isn't covered by warranty so I'm stuck with an ugly refrigerator. I rue the day I ever bought this thing. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Water Damage

We purchased this for our small cabin, about four months ago. It's a cabin, so we aren't there a lot. There is next to zero food in the fridge and nothing in the freezer ( we had hotdog buns in for the day we were there). The last two times I have been at our cabin there is water all over the floor. Ruining our newly renovated floors, causing water damage to our subfloor and one of our kitchen cabinets ( cheap MDF base doesn't handle water well) I pulled the fridge away from the wall and noticed the drain/drip pan is overflowing. There is ice and frost covering the freezer. Everything I can find online indicates something is blocking our freezer fan. We have nothing in the freezer. Very frustrating. Naturally, we threw away the receipt, a rookie mistake. Save yourself $450 and lord only knows how much money in damage. Not to mention the frustration.

Good secondary mid size refrigerator

My primary kitchen refrigerator is a counter depth unit and i needed a little more storage space. I bought this mid size unit to go in my pantry. Haier is a subdivision of GE and the online reviews rated this unit pretty well compared to several other similarly sized units by other brands. I have now had it a few weeks and it is working great. It holds temperature welll and the door seals work well. I haven't seen any issues with the freezer door opening unexpectantly that a few others reported in their reviews. It also is very quiet. The same unit is sold at Best Buy and Costco but Lowe's had the best price at the time. Overall I am very happy with the unit and I would definitely recommend it to supplement your primary refrigerator.

Great fridge, wish I would've purchased elsewhere

The fridge itself works great so far with about a month in. It's large enough for the basics you would have but maybe too small for a family. Perfect size for an apartment. I've read reviews the freezer had an excess of ice forming inside, I have not had that problem. The one thing I would like to mention is the shelves on the door do take up space into the main bottom shelf. So that takes up about 5 in. In depth you'll lose for storage on the bottom shelf. My issue is with Lowes, the Moreno valley CA location gave the delivery team the wrong color, and the delivery associate scratched the floor with the dolly of the place I'm leasing. It was not worth me taking another day off for them to bring me the correct one, and I wouldn't expect Lowes to do anything about the floor or the deposit I'll lose because of it. Giving five stars for the fridge only.

Great replacement for RV fridge

The 22 year old 2-way gas/electric fridge in my RV finally died. This turned out to be an excellent replacement. It fit right in the cabinet with about 3/8" to spare on each side and about 1" to spare up top. As far as securing it goes, I drilled 2 holes on the lower exterior frame of the fridge and locked it down using 2 lag bolts. I installed an 8" angle bracket to the top front of the fridge using two sided tape and screwed the other side to the cabinet. I used a roll of 1" expanding foam weatherstrip to fill the gaps. The weatherstrip not only insulates, but helps hold the fridge tightly in the cabinet. Current draw looks great so far. I'm monitoring it using a Hughes Power Watchdog with all other 120 volt devices disconnected. So far, I haven't seen more than 1 amp and approximately 100 watts in the first hour of operation. It's already cold in the first hour. I think I'm going to be very happy with this purchase. More cubic feet than the original and much less of a fire hazard than the old gas/electric.

Can you say-COLD!!!?

I bought this a month ago as an emergency replacement. I am still adjusting the temperature, so that the back items don't freeze! It's definitely cold! (But I like that-I'll like it even more if I can get the items in the back to stop freezing.)

Love my new refrigerator!

This is my second Haier refrigerator. The first one is a very small one and I have had it for about 7 or 8 years. I needed something larger with a more dependable freezer (needed a 2 door). I have always been impressed about how well built the first one was as it was quite inexpensive. I was looking for an apartment size unit and was ready to purchase one but was concerned that it did not have separate thermostats so started looking around and ran across the Haier name. I purchased it sight unseen and have had it about a month now and am very impressed with it. It is very well built, holds the temperature very well and has a nice interior. Very pleased with it and hopefully it will last a long time. The inside configuration is very good for me. The LED lights are also quite nice and all of the removable inside pieces are quality made and easy to move around and keep clean.

DO NOT BUY if you need a fridge for your garagae

I have a small garage and needed a compact refrigerator/freezer combo. I measured, shopped and shopped and finally, with the help of a Lowe's appliance employee, where I live, here in Ohio, ordered this fridge for my garage in July 2020. I SPECIFICALLY stated I needed the refrigerator for garage use. This one was the perfect size, color and door is reversible. Haier specs we pulled up DID not indicate at the time that it would NOT function outdoors or in a garage. I had to wait 5 months for delivery. When it finally was delivered in December, with the intervention of the national and local Lowe's customer support and management team (I had to contact them 4 times before delivery achieved) I opened the manual to read the instructions on how to reverse the door and the 1st thing I read was: this refrigerator will not function in an area where the temperature dips below 60 degrees F. On that December day, my garage temp was of course, below 60 degrees. Haier's and Lowe's advice (now that they've added this limitation to their online specs...): We suggest you buy another refrigerator. I would if I could, if they could find me a replacement of similar size and cost, but that has not happened,

Elegant and compact

I needed a smaller format refrigerator to fit the limited kitchen space available and I wanted something that was NOT just a boring white box. This Haier fits the bill. It is elegant and suited to just about any kitchen's color scheme. It has a nice sanded-look steel front and black sides and top, enough storage space for about a week's groceries, and pleasant LED lighting in the main section. All the shelves and the crisper drawer are clear plastic, making it easier to see and find everything. There is no light in the freezer section. There's also no ice maker and the space is not quite deep enough to accommodate regular-sized ice cube trays head first, they need to go in sideways. The fridge cools very efficiently, the lowest setting (1) seems to be more than enough to chill the relatively small space adequately. (This may be a benefit on power usage, but there hasn't been enough time yet to see this reflected in a bill!) The freezer has a separate control for temperature as well. The motor hums at a higher than usual frequency than the refrigerators I'm used to, but it is not loud or "grinding." Both sides - especially in the middle - become decidedly warm-to-hot to the touch when the motor is running! The bottom of the lower door is about two inches or so from the floor and if you're not watching, toes can get caught under it as it swings open. The doors can be mounted to hinge on either side. The top of the lower door and top and bottom of the freezer compartment door have small holes where the hinge isn't in use and there are no "plugs" filling these holes. The unused hinge connection on the top of the body of the fridge, however, does have a rubber cover. Overall, for the size and considering the price bracket, this is an excellent and definitely elegant refrigerator for a smaller space and/or smaller storage needs.

Nice For Small Kitchen

Building Management bought me this refrigerator to replace one that broke at the height of a July heat wave. I was not too familiar with the Haier brand, and therefore had some concerns about its performance and reliability.

[Rewarded Review] Extremely happy with the Haier refrigerator

Did not plan on "testing" five different refrigerators, KitchenAid, Insignia, Avanti, Danby and not sure of the spelling, Medea. The same problem with each of them! Would not keep food either in freezer or refrigerator at an acceptable temp. unless you turn it up to the coldest setting and l didn't want the new refrigerators compressor to have to work that hard right from the very beginning! No telling how quickly it might burn itself out. But then l got the Haier and was l impressed! Now the temp. switch is set on 3 and can go up to 7 for max but food is at the proper temperature at #3 and freezer is set just above minimum and keeping everything perfect. The doors shut good n tight compared to any of the first five, freezer has more room than the others even the two that had more cubic feet. Door on refrigerator has so much space that it holds both a gallon milk container n half gallon container n still have room on the door for mayo, eggs, butter and so much more! The crisper drawer on the bottom is huge, all shelves made of glass and the compressor is so quiet! Very good construction n you can tell it's a very sturdy refrigerator. So this Haier is a keeper! FINALLY!
