[Rewarded Review] Love this ventless dryer!

I've been very pleased with this ventless heat pump dryer. It comes with a condensate drain hose that feeds into the same drain pipe as the washing machine drain hose. It's super simple to install and use. It also frees up where in your house you put your dryer as it doesn't need to vent to the outside.

Broken frame, no recourse

This dryer was delivered and set up by Lowe's and worked fine for almost 8 months, then just stopped tumbling. LG sent a technician who had never worked on this unit, but he finally took it apart and found that the bottom frame (plastic) had cracked and so the piece with a spring that holds the motor and belt in tension had broken away. After two weeks of phone calls and texts, LG claimed that the unit must have been dropped, so the damage was not covered under the warranty. Lowe's had only a 6 month warranty, so it appears I am out of luck.

This dryer was a mistake!

Where do I start? We had a dedicated closet built for a set of brand new LG 4.2 washer and dryer set. We did our homework, and these were supposed to be top of the line.

Technology triumph

I carefully read the customer reviews and consumer ratings prior to purchase. The product is highly rated by consumer groups, however, some of the negative customer reviews gave me pause. I'm happy to report a wonderfully positive experience using this heat-pump dryer. We are a two-person household that does lots of smaller loads of mostly synthetic materials. As you might expect, these items dry quickly without wrinkling. I tested a load of heavy cottons, including blue jeans. After less than 30 minutes, the clothes were completely dry and came out feeling warm, just like our old gas fired dryer. During the cycle, I removed the items that were dry and restarted the items that needed more time. I'm a heat pump convert. The gas fired furnace is next.

Look into heat pump dryers before you buy one

Good heat pump dryer. I used to have a sensor dryer that would take over an hour to dry a load. being a heat pump dryer, this does take longer, but it only takes 2 hours to dry most loads. Because of its small size, you do have to rearrange king size comforters occasionally to get them dry, but that was true in my 7.5 cu ft sensor dryer, as well, so I really don't care. I really don't understand a lot of the complaints on here, it takes 2 hours (in energy saver, so heat pump only) instead of an hour to an hour and a half, but there are modes on here to allow more energy use if you want faster drying. The size is small, but it competently dries a full 9kg load from my 9kg washer, and this is a 9kg dryer, so, what? are you concerned people are going to make fun of how small your dryer is? why does it matter if your dryer is physically smaller outside from your washer? My mom always taught me it's what''s inside that counts, and inside this is the same size and capacity as my washer, who cares what the neighbors say. This uses a 10th of the energy, and I could fill another hole to the outside of my house. Also, this technology has been out since the 80s, so, I'm pretty sure the koreans and germans (really, these are the hot markets for these up till now, so buy from them) can build these reliably. These are supposed to be more reliable than straight electric, and they will pay for themselves in a year or so, anyway.

I'd buy again and recommend to friends.

New to condo living and the whole everything is smaller life. Got the matching pair compact washer/dryer. Hook-ups are in the kitchen, so the looks of these are important and great. They both work fine. I see complaints about drying time - but you have to be smart about how you use this. I had a cycle of towels run 4+ hours. I learned - if you use dryer sheets, they leave a film that blocks airflow. So, watch the filter and wash it with dish soap to break up the film and get the drying time back to approx 1.5-2 hours. I do this about every 2nd or 3rd load. I'm looking to buy another filter so I always have a clean & dry filter available. The filter must be dry before use. Energy saver mode does take longer but it really uses little energy.

[Rewarded Review] Heat Pumps are best

Unfortunately, there are not enough Heat Pump dryers available to choose from. This is the best one I could find. The only problem with it is that the matching, stackable washer is only 2.4 cubic feet, which is quite small.

[Rewarded Review] Stopped working after 1yr.

This was our second ventless dryer from LG and unfortunately it did not live up to the performance of the previous appliance. This one took a little longer to dry the clothes but still got the job done. As we approached the 1 year anniversary of this purchase the dryer started to take longer and longer to dry clothes, eventually not being able to dry the clothes at all. After runnning for 3-4 hours clothes were still wet without any moisture removed.

Premature review

I've had the dryer just over a week which isn't really an ample time for a comprehensive review.
