Works flawlessly. Fits. My full
Works flawlessly. Fits. My full size 4 inch revolver.
Excellent safe, useless RFID
Everything is great about this safe except the RFID function. The tags are very easily deactivated rendering the feature practically useless. Extremely well made.
Safe and Secured!
Excellent Safe with durable materials and well made. All the mechanisms work pretty well and easy to install gadgets. This is my second safe from Hornady that I buy and I recommend this item for safe keeping valuables.
Awesome bedside safe
I bought my wife one for her side of the bed. She loved it so much that I bought one for my side of the bed. We programmed them so that I could use hers and she could use mine. Question is when I buy it again absolutely, thanks Hornady and Natchez for carrying them.
Hornady Rapid Safe Keypad with RFID 97436
Excellent. This is a well-designed and made gun safe. I replaced a POS I bought several years ago with this one and I am very pleased with it. The RFID rapid opener is fantastic. Highly recommend.
Really like this pistol safe!
I have this safe underneath my bed side table with a couple of my pistols with lights on them. Works like it's describe to by the manufacturer. Really like the little disc that comes with it for quick access. I put in my cell phone case and it works like a charm. I highly recommend this safe.
RFID Broke Within Minutes
RFID doesn't work. Believe the other reviews. It worked once, maybe twice, and never again. The key pad works well enough, so I will keep the product, but disappointing for this price.
Finally found a drawer safe slim enough for vintage side table drawers!!!
Finally found a drawer safe slim enough for vintage side table drawers!!!. Durable and reliable. I mostly use PIN but the safe has never failed to open with PIN or RFID. I will say though that you have to tap (actually tap, not just wave near it) the RFID sensor pretty much dead center for it to be reliable so in a real emergency I would use the PIN sequence on the light-up pad.
A lot of room
It has plenty of room. There is a significant beep when opening it with the 4-6 digit keypad, and the RFiD tag. The barrel key is quieter, but there is a click. It comes with two pan head Phillips head screws. I drilled 5/64 pilot holes to prevent wood splitting before attaching it to my night stand. As stated it is a good entry level vault, but if you are looking for absolute silence when opening a vault you may want to consider a different model. This one works for me. The Sheridan 5mm air rifle in the corner is my back-up. Ha ha.
Hornady Quallity
I've always equated the Hornady name with quality and this handgun safe continues that quality for a great price. With 4 ways to open it, I don't know where you could find a better deal. The written instructions for setting it up are a little hard to follow but there are excellent YouTube videos to walk you through it.
Not TOUCH FREE - misleading description
This safe is advertised everywhere as "Touch Free" meaning that you should be able to swipe the RFID tag and the lid opens. Unfortunately the safe is in sleep mode and you need to press a button on the key pad to wake it up, then swipe, and then it will open. Might as well just use the key pad. Makes the RFID tag sort of pointless and the operation not touch free or very rapid.
Great for his & hers pistols
Installed this bolted down where it isn't immediately visible. It works very well for 80% of what I wanted.
Great for the price
Everything is exactly as described and of high quality. Shipping was free and quick.
Great Safe, Worst Instruction Manual Ever
Great safe that works fine. The one problem is that a five year-old could write better instructions. A call to Hornady support easily explained how to install batteries as well as the fact you need to wake up the RFID reader by pressing any key first. Also, what most think is the programming button when first looking in the safe, is actually the light. The program button is hidden behind the battery cover. Definitely a step up from the touch pad bedside safe I've had ten years or more.
Not thinking so
I needed a safe I could use with RFID or a keypad. I received my first safe all boxed up and nice. When programing the safe the instructions said to push the red button. I did this the red button fell out behind the red button mount. No problem ship back and get a new one. Got my new one today following the same instructions using my finger this red button fell out into the bottom of the safe, again the same problem. So now need to ship this one back. Time for a different safe.
Easy setup, suits my needs perfectly.
Programming my code, and setting up the RFID tags only took me a few short minutes after putting in the batteries.
Will see if the 2nd one is better
1st safe is being returned. It could not be programmed because the red programming button is stuck. Midway is easy to deal with in regards to the return. The 1 star rating is due to the pain and extra effort due to receiving a defective product. Anxious to receive a replacement safe since everything else looks great!
The Best safes in town
I started with three key pad safes (two for the house and one for the car). Then they came out with the rapid safes. I got one for the house. Later I got 3 rapid safes for cars. And now I just got two of these new rapid safes for home and other family. The best part is you can program all of the RFID tags to work on any or all of the safes. This way anyone in the family can open the safes no matter what car they are in or where they are at in the house. The next great feature is that they open in a 1-2sec. with out having to remember codes under stress and then the time it would take to input them. These have made all other safes obsolete.
I love the safe!
Anytime i need a safe or anything i will buy from these people. Their customer service is outstanding. They are one of the few people that actually know what customer services. The safe is really nice i like it a lot. They have really good prices also. A lot of places have no clue what customer service is. Here they are super friendly nice and will help you with anything you need assistance in. I would highly recommend these guys.
Top quality, reliable, easy multiple access, CA compiant
I was looking for a solid, reliable, muliple access pistol safe that would be CA legal for my truck. With its cable securing the safe to my vehicle, it fits easily in a concealed space for quick access, with the RFID keychain tag as my preferred method, the keypad as secondary, and the key as a last resort. The safe also comes with two RFID stickers that can also be used. Highly recommend. I also have a combination safe, of approximately the same size, but it does not always open quickly.
