Very disappointed with the purchase
We loved the fridge when we first got it . Its not even 2 years old yet and we had sevice techs come out at least 4 times to fix issues. Our latest issue was with the freezer , second time it defrosted and i had to throw out the food, and thats after the tech put in a new gasket around the door . The next day my freezer was at 50 degrees. When i called they told me they coudnt do anything as i already had an appointment in more than a week for the tech to come fix another issue with the water tank . Theres soot everywhere in my freezer and fridge . I requested for them to replace my refrigerator or give me credit towards a new one , and they told me the tech was the one that could put on for a replacement. So ive had the ice maker changed both gaskets on the doors they r coming back to chamge my water tank . At what point is this fridge considered defective ? I will not drink water out of it ever again nor use the ice maker . Bottom line my refrigerator should of been replaced i dont think it should have all these issues, but both lg and the extended warranty people did not want to do anything other than fix parts that keep going bad . Don not buy lg . Im going to have to get a new refrigerator . I do not trust this one any more .. do your research and find a refrigerator that lasts and has good customer service . Im done with lg and best buy warranty a refrigerator should not have so many issues after not even 2 years !!
[Rewarded Review] Do not buy.
I don't blame the store for this, but when I received the fridge and plugged it in there was a beeping that was coming from the fridge every 30 seconds or so. I checked the booklet and it said that it may either be the temperature alert, or that the doors were not closed all the way. After making sure both doors were closed adequately and waiting for most of the day for the temperature to come to setting it still was beeping. We contacted customer service. They sent someone out. They said that we couldn't get it fixed and needed a replacement fridge. When I called LG to get this done after only having the fridge for 3 days, they said that it couldn't be replaced. That we needed to contact the store and have them take care of it. So my husband unplugged the sensor that was causing the beeping and now we don't hear the sound anymore. Will not buy this brand again though.
[Rewarded Review] Solid 1 year later, but very limited adjustability
Fridge has been going solid for a year now. Ice and craft ice makers are doing great. Water/ice dispenser is working nicely. Ice is made and stored in the freezer--where it belongs *cough*. Doors pockets are nice an generously big. Really we haven't had any problems with how it functions as a fridge.
LG fridge Review
I recently purchased an LG refrigerator, and my experience has been less than satisfactory. When the first unit arrived, it sounded like it was ready for takeoff! It turned out that they forgot to cut the tips off the fan, causing it to click loudly inside the fridge. I promptly returned it, hoping for a better experience with a replacement. A week later, a new unit was delivered, but this one has its own issues. Despite setting it to 33°F, the temperature consistently hovers between 40-43°F. As a pastry chef, having accurate temperature control is crucial for my work, and the discrepancy in the temperature readings is concerning. I can't rely on the numbers displayed on the side panel. Overall, my experience with LG refrigerators has been frustrating. I expected better performance and quality control for the price, especially given the importance of precision in my profession. I hope LG addresses these issues for future customers. I did get a $200 gift card to purchase a mini fridge in the mean time which is NOTHING compared to the food I've wasted trusting this process. Fingers crossed that the 3rd Fridge is excellent.
[Rewarded Review] Issues and Spoiled Food Abound
Bought this Fridge in November of 2021 as we had never had issues with other LG products we had purchased up to that point. Since then, our craft ice maker has broken twice and needed repaired, which honestly was more of an annoyance than anything (and LG graciously replaced it under warranty free of charge both times.) However, the bigger issue and the reason this gets 1 star is due to the compressor dying out after only 2.5 years of use. Not only that, but it took me over an hour on the phone with LG, along with 5 or 6 transfers between two different departments before I could get someone to send out a technician to my house to diagnose the problem. Which is ALSO an issue as the error codes the fridge was showing was not related to the compressor AT ALL. To top it off, the LG ThinQ app that's supposed to have a smart diagnoses function to tell if something is wrong literally says "your fridge is working fine." Even now after the tech came out and discovered it has a bad compressor and literally isn't running / blowing ANY AIR AT ALL. So not only did I have to wait two days to even get a tech to come out, I now have to wait another week before the part will come in and I can get another repair appointment setup. Which would be acceptable for any other appliance BUT a fridge, which is arguably the most necessary appliance anyone will ever own. Thank God we have another fridge that still works on our back porch, that we did our best to overfill with as much food from the front fridge and freezer as we could. Unfortunately because the app itself is useless and didn't tell me there was a problem I had to find out the hard way - seeing most of my freezer food had melted or dethawed almost completely. So. Lots of wasted / unsalvageable food due to this. Oh and the fridge in the backyard? It's an Electrolux brand that we bought 8 years ago at a Sears Outlet store. Never had an issue with it once. Which just shows how much the quality of appliances has gone downhill. I can't recommend a product that has this many failures (including such a major one) in such a short period of time.
Very Happy!
I really like the view through door, the craft ice maker, and the in-door ice maker. The team had it set up in minutes, running water through the door to prime the filter quickly. Within a day we had ice in the door, within two days we had craft ice being made. I dumped both batches per the manual, and it quickly refilled both. Neither ice maker is terribly loud when dropping ice (I can't hear it in my office like I could on the old Frigidaire that leaked). I love that the shelves are not wire, but glass on both sides. My only "complaint" is we did have a third drawer under the top shelf in old leaky, where I kept cheese and deli meat, that this one does not have. I was able to use a clear bin for storage and move on. I appreciate the size of the door shelves - the bottom one has 8 bottles of wine chilling in it as we speak. As per other reviewers, it really does pay to measure not only the opening of where the refrigerator will sit, but also the doors they will need to go through to get there (ours fit nicely through the front door, once taken out of the box).
The worst fridge I’ve ever owned
I bought this fridge because of the craft ice maker and its sleek looks. I really was duped with this fridge. First of all… the 2nd shelf down on the refrigerator door constantly falls down. All the contents come crashing down when you shut the door and there is now way to stop it from happening because you have to open the door to fix the problem and everything just falls to the ground and breaks. We owned our fridge for one month when the shelf collapsed and a glass bottle of hot sauce broke into a million pieces and sent hot sauce everywhere. A Christmas to never forget!! The second problem was the craft ice maker went out two weeks after my year warranty expired. Guess how much to fix it? Double what we paid for the fridge!!! And last month the main ice maker went out. We haven’t used the first for even 3 years yet and it is the worst investment I ever made. LG makes garbage products, and doesn’t care about fixing the issues. Stay away from this fridge or any fridge made by LG!
[Rewarded Review] Happy so far and was a great deal
We got this refrigerator a month ago and we’ve been happy with it so far. It’s an upgrade to our older fridge as it has more capacity and we just prefer the side by side freezer and refrigerator. Although we wish freezer is a little bit more wider, it still has more capacity than what we previously had, and having shelving vs bottom freezer is just easier to organize in our opinion. Ice maker is great so far with an option for cubes or crushed ice outside, or crafted ice inside the freezer. Note that the crafted ice maker can only make max of 6 round ice per day.
Cute idea, not really functional friendly.
I like the idea of being able to see into the fridge, but I cannot count any times we've actually used this feature other than the day it arrived and was installed. There are so many Cons to this unit. Let's start with the freezer. The device, unlike many other reviews I've seen, does actually make Craft Ice Cubes. However, it's only designed to make 3 ice balls in 24 hours, but has the ability to switch to generate 6 ice balls in the same time period. Which, those ice balls melt extremely quickly. The refridgerator side does not have a deli drawer or egg/butter slot/bin, which you quickly realize is really critical to effective storage. So we had to purchase other items for properly storing eggs, butter, meats and cheeses. The glass shelves and the plastic drawers are very thin and fragile. This is not a user friendly appliance for kids. There is no crisper drawer that allows varying airflow for fruits and vegetables, but the drawers in the freezer have slots on the side for handling, but you would never actually use them. Doesn't make sense. My biggest pet peeve and ultimate regret that I missed and would have impacted my purchase, all of the drawers (both fridge and freezer side) have the pull slot at the bottom of the drawer. Which means that you have to bend down all the way, almost to the floor, to open the drawers especially the ones all the way at the bottom. The design is cute, but not functional. I would not purchase again or recommend.
Buyer beware
Pros: LG makes esthetically pleasing products.
Make sure everything is plugged in correctly!
The product itself is amazing. Knock on the View Window to see what’s inside is not only energy efficient because you ate not opening the door but it’s just flat out cool. The only complaint I had about this product was installation. It’s a big refrigerator. Unless you have a large doorway to get it through the doors will have to be removed which will require unplugging some of the electrical components at the top of the refrigerator. When mine was being installed the guys did not connect everything back the way it should have been and could not troubleshoot why the water pump was not working because while they did try your brain does not work as well knowing you have five more deliveries to complete and its already past the last window for deliveries. Long story short my wife and I climbed to the top and took it apart and used the online troubleshooting guide to find an electrical component that was not plugged in. We reconnected it but the water still did not dispense. We found out later that we had to not only replug everything but also close the component box back so that the sensors would allow everything to function normally. Its been great ever since and I really like the craft ice maker.
I do not recommend LG Refrigerators outside stainless steel is DEFECTIVE
We purchased the french doors all the way down and the top right one opens up for easy access- the refrigerator works great- it is large inside and the craft ice maker is amazing BUT DO NOT BUY THIS any LG REFRIGERATOR. One little tap and the outside is damaged- it does not take much- and it scratches and indents- we complained we just received the refrigerator and it looked fine no dents but then in a months time when you looked at it from a different angle there were dents like little circle indents all on the bottom of the refrigerators right door.
LG InstaView quiet, roomy, elegant but ...
The LG InstaView Smart Side-by-Side refrigerator has an elegant external styling and plenty of room inside. Two ice machines. It is one of quietest refrigerators. The LED lighting is good but could be better. This unit lacks the sperate door to open top half of the refrigerator. Of course, you could have the double tap to view inside without opening the unit. Key items missing, a real egg tray and shelf to support it. A real butter holder and a place to place it. At least on split shelf, A better method to adjust shelves. Both large frig bins need a divider. An opening in front of bins to easily open. Should have a mini shelf inside frig door that doesn't open. Water tray should be able to keep a light on. Bins need to pull out further, The freezer needs an extra shelf on door. Digital display should be able to display actual temperature and set temperature. Should have included the water counter feature as many refrigerates include as a standard feature. The frig door shelves should be adjustable. Frezer shelves need to be adjustable. So far, no major issues with the unit. I do recommend the refrigerator, best bang for the buck.
[Rewarded Review] Pros and cons: please read
Pros and cons: This refrigerator is nice and stylish. The interior is very dark, though, which gives it a boring commercial feel, instead of a welcoming bright well-stocked family fridge. There's a bright white LED light at the top but anything below the top shelf is stuck in the dark ages. This was an open item and it was in perfect condition, so we were happy with the price.—————The glass door does NOT open separately (contrary to the item's description) You tap the glass twice and the interior light comes on for a moment, but that's all there is to it. The exterior is a nice color and I like the glossy finish, which makes it easy to clean.—————Another con is the water dispenser: only the top half of the paddle moves/activates; you have to push the top end of a really tall glass against the paddle for flow. It's like it was installed upside down.—————The biggest con aside from the poor lighting and water dispenser is that the very bottom drawer rubs on the door seal unless you open the door all the way. So, overall it's a nice-looking fridge but has some awkward designing that are very obvious every time you use this fridge. I give it 3 stars.
