full of junk

Don't buy this window AC; it's a piece of junk and doesn't work properly. I ordered two of them, and it says they cover 150 square feet. My bedroom is 120 square feet, and it still doesn't work. I put it on the highest setting, and it still doesn't work. It's been two months since I ordered them, and I called Walmart customer care, but they wouldn't take them back. Please be careful before you order. Thanks.

This ac has been amazing so far. Quite often I find it works too well ! Ac was packed very neatly in its shipping box.The installation wasn't bad. All parts included in the packaging were there and even some extra foam tape. No complaints at all! Great product.

This Thing Blows - Cold Air!!

It is Great, However the description is wrong!! After installation, we went to get the remote control, and we discovered that it doesn't actually come with one as stated in the description. We already drilled and set it up, so I'm not undoing that!! there is no way to control the temperature, so we guess it will be continuously, which is something we thought we would have control over. But does it cool, absolutely 💯. So, there is a small disappointment in that sense. If you want remote control, then dont get it. If you want cold air, then it delivers!

Best AC for a bedroom

I have 3 of these exact AC Units. No kicking on and off, nice steady low sound. I use it full blast coldest setting all night long and it keeps my bedroom at 60degrees. I use it at night so I don’t have the central AC keeping the entire house that cool. Cools the whole 280SqFt bedroom in 15 minutes or less. Also has a fan option. Low or high setting for the fan and AC and temperature control. I have one in each bedroom and keep the central AC on 70 for the rest of the house. Saves on electricity too.

I would buy this product again

Works great for the room is was bought for. My house is dark blue, and the thermostat is mounted on the outer wall that gets the most sun all day. That end of the house will be in the 80s and the AC runs constantly, meaning an outrageous electric bill. It now stays in the upper 60s, lower 70s and no need to run the HVAC system.

Great small A/C that cools BIG

Based on its good price, we bought this LW5016 model a few years ago for cooling a 10x10 bedroom. It worked very well, plus it was fairly easy to install and later remove to store for the winter. When we needed supplemental cooling in our kitchen, we bought a second one. Again, smaller size and weight made it easy to install and later store. And when one of our children moved into a college-house rental, we bought this latest a/c for their 10x15 attic bedroom. ALL of the LW5016 units are still working well. They provide a surprising amount of cool air for their size and we love their portability. Best for smaller spaces. Fairly quiet. LOVE that the air vents are designed to blow up and not at you. Very basic and easy to use controls - on/off, high/low fan, and manual temperature range. So far so good.

Checked all my boxes. An impressive workhorse!

I wanted a simple, no frills, 5000 btu window ac unit as an emergency backup in case our central ac system failed in the dead of summer. I like LG products. This little unit vents air upward more than outward. That’s a better way to cool. A big plus is that it isn’t made in China! It’s made in Thailand! How good is this little ac? Out of curiosity, I put it to a test today. We have an 1,100 sq.ft. house that faces the sun all day. No shade trees. Installed the LG in a kitchen window at the far end of the house. Install was easy and this little unit didn’t require exterior support. The central ac thermostat is near the opposite end of house. Turned the central ac off, and put the central fan to “recirculate” (turns central fan on and off in intervals). 90 degrees outside today with mix of sun and clouds. Set the LG to number 7 on high cool setting. This little LG maintained an indoor temperature of 77 degrees all day. Imagine how good this will work for a 150 to 200 sq.ft. room. Of course, this LG won’t be our go-to ac for the hottest summer days, but it’s good to know we won’t roast to death if the central ac croaks in the middle of summer while we wait for repair. Btw, our shipping box arrived damaged, but luckily just missed hitting the ac unit. Some reviewers down rate the product if damaged in shipping. That’s just ridiculous! Happy with this little LG window AC!

Only unit for 12" window opening for 5000/6000 BTU

This unit so far has worked really well. The height measurement is 11 3/8 inches so it was the only until I could use in double hung window. The unit does not weigh much so no support was used in the installation. Additionally, since I have a brick home the unit only pops out about a 1/2 inch so I don't even see it when backing up in the driveway. Before purchasing, I went to the LG.com website to read more documentation. The unit is manufactured in Thailand according to the manufacturer, S/N tag, and the shipping box. Be aware, the unit will be shipped from Los Angeles via Federal Express. The fit and finish was good and the paint looks almost baked on. Be VERY careful with the condenser fins as they will bend if touched during installation. Also, you do not have to remove the drain plug for the unit to do its job. You may feel a slight mist when the fan picks up a little condensation water which is normal. I also purchased the Lowes 2 year protection since I have had to use that before on other items.....but for $153 (6/2022) it was a no brainer and in fact I ordered the larger 6000BTU LW5017R which has the same low profile (less than 12 inch height)

Air conditioner is like a running faucet!

What a mess!! this LG air conditioner ruined my kitchen. Water came out of the top like a sprinkle!!! came out of bottom like a faucet!! I had water running from my counter top on my floor!! I had a very hard time putting it in the window then had to take it out because of the water and did not blow out cool air. The little air it did blow out went to the ceiling because the air came out of the top. My kitchen is very small so I could not prepare food because of water shooting out into it!! I was so disappointed!! They sent me return label when I told them clearly I had no printer. Then was told freight will pick it up without a label and they will call to schedule a date for pick up-this never happened. Kept getting the run around concerning freight. One representative told me to take my phone to a place that print labels...what a joke, the reason I order on line is because of cov19, otherwise I can go shopping myself! This has been a nightmare!! I do not recommend this air conditioner!!

Cools great and not too loud!

Just installed mine today in a spare bedroom/office. It arrived 2 days ahead of schedule! I really like this unit. It cools extremely well and isn't too terribly loud either. It doesn't make a huge CLUNK when the compressor kicks on. In fact I wish this one were in my actual bedroom, as the one in there makes this loud howling sound and also makes a big clunk when the compressor kicks on. No it doesn't have a remote, but I don't really care. Works great and is not loud. It does protrude out into the room a bit more than others, but that means it doesn't stick out the window as much, so I don't have to worry about bracing it from underneath. Most of the weight is right on the sill.

Great little unit. Well designed and durable.

This unit has a very nice design that is pleasant to the eyes. This unit is light-weight and manageable making installation easy. The unit blows ice cold air and the compressor makes a rather pleasant buzz which is good; for all units have a noise level of some sort. I installed this unit in my kitchen which is a wide open area joining my living room with no doors. This is a 340 sqare foot area which makes the five ton unit undersized yet with an accompanying ceiling fan the room is tolerable even when cooking. I would recommend the six ton unit in this same like situation but due to high demand it was not readily available and I saved some money taking a chance on a smaller unit.

Almost $200 and no energy saver?!

I put This AC in my small bedroom thats less than 20ft wide. I tested it out and, it takes a long time for the room to get cool. Sure, the air blowing out is freezing but, ive had it on on the highest setting for 2 hours and, the room isn't as cold as the air, blowing out of it. The main reason why i got this ac was because it was the only cheap name brand, unit that had the filter on the front instead of the side. My older ac's filter broke because i had to bend it to get it out since my windows are too close towards the walls. Thanks to the way that this ac is built, i will no longer deal with that issue. However, i don't appreciate that this AC was almost $200 and, it doesnt even have an energy saver option. I want my room to be cold as well as not having to worry about having a high light bill.so So much for that expectation. The booklet does mention the unit turning itself on and off when the room is cold enough but, i have yet to see that since ive had it on for two hours straight and,it just continued to run. Looks like my light bill is going to be high... But I guess it beats having an ac that doesnt work at all.\n\nAs from what over reviewers have mentioned, i think half of them are reviewing a different product. They mention a remote in which, the lg lw5016 does not have one. It is a dial. It also has Styrofoam inside in which im not very fond of since, thats basically a mold prone trap. Since this AC is only going to be used when im sleeping, I cant complain very much. It cools the room where it's comfortable enough for me to sleep through the night and, thats all it matters in the end. Its the only AC that was within my budget that has a front facing filter.\n\nI just warn you to not rely on this little thing to be your only cooling option. I can say for sure that its not going to be very good for a scorching heat wave at 12pm with the sun beating down. I only reccomend this if you're using it to cool a small bedroom at night so you can sleep. Youre going to end go needing something more powerful and more pricy otherwise.

Great product!

I normally do not take the time to write reviews ever! However, I could not pass this one up. I’ve had this ac for over ten years and it just now started to make some weird grinding sounds. So I spent hours trying to search and find a new good one for reasonable price. The reviews were all terrible and left me uncertain on what to get. Anyways a family member unscrewed this ac and blew it out and now it’s back to working good as new. It is not too loud for my room and makes my room as cold as I choose. I never put it on the coldest setting bc it’s just too cold. In conclusion I cannot speak for other air conditioning units but I can say without a doubt in my experience with this ac it is 100% worth purchasing and you will not be disappointed.
