Horrible

This is hands down the loudest worst functioning AC I’ve ever purchased in my life. It sounds like when you clip a card onto a bike tire. No matter what you do it doesn’t stop. I tried using this for four days and no matter what I did the rattling wouldn’t stop.

Broke After Only 2 Years of light use

I am extremely disappointed with this portable air conditioner. I was pretty optimistic after reading the good reviews. It worked decently for two years of light use, cooling a small room on hot days, but then it completely stopped pumping out cold air. The fans still work but it pumps out warm air only. After thoroughly researching the issue and doing all the recommended troubleshooting it leads me to believe the compressor failed on my unit. Given its light use and cost, I expected a longer lifespan. Guess it make sense why GE only offer a 1 year warranty on these things since Im guessing they don't last too long. I will be trying a different brand for my next ac unit.

Great Just In Case or Summer Use AC

For years I put off buying a portable air conditioner. Every summer it was the same thing, I would tell my wife we need a backup AC just in case. A few summers ago we lost power on a hot August day and we ended up sitting in front of a fan being powered by a portable generator.

A Good Product With a Significant Design Flaw

This small sized portable A/C that works well in a small room was easy to install. One significant design flaw prevents a better rating - the air tube bracket does not secure to the window panel properly as the one small screw provided to hold it in place is useless. In order to keep the air tube in place, I had to use packing tape.

Keeps Cool Like an AC should

Our central air is on the blink. Needed a good remedy during the recent heat wave. I easily installed the unit. Keeping cool. A bit loud. Only issue is the hose that extends to the window and goes into the plastic window bracket Keeps popping out. It is not a snug fit.

Very mediocre air conditioner

This air conditioner was a bit cheaper than competing models, but now I see why. When I was installing it, the window pieces were very cheap and left big gaps for air, and the installation pump pieces broke twice. My biggest issue with it is that the air conditioner is VERY loud. I'm disappointed because I've always thought GE made great products. So far it's cooling the room, but only slightly. Not super pleased.

GE is complete garbage

This is my second purchase of these portable AC units. I decided to go with this smaller unit for my bedroom. I bought this last year on 7/4/23 and I just took it out from storage and after only 3 months of use this piece of crap does not work. Before storing it away, I made sure filters were cleaned, no water build up and ensure it was properly stored in cool dry place and no dust. I plugged it in, the motor sound comes on but no cold air. I checked the filters, I check the water drainage, I checked the breaker several times and nothing is working. What a wast of money!

Ac worked great for a year

This ac worked really well, for about a year. It really made this last summer bearable, we put it away after the summer. Upon bringing it out the following year, it didn't give off cool air anymore. I had two months left on the warranty, and they ignored me until after the warranty was up. Reading further reviews, this seems to be a common problem. The ac only works as long as it's warranty, save your self some $, get something that works...

GE 10,000 BTU Portable air conditioner

Purchased this unit through Best Buy market place worst purchase we have ever made. We purchased one and it didn’t work , contacted the the manufacturer they gave us all these hoops to jump through for us to to get rid of it, when we received the replacement unit the same thing was wrong with it as the first and again hoops to jump through for disposal .

Poor Quality

As an employee of GE I chose to support their brand by buying this product. Big mistake! If you are planning on using this in your bedroom better wear ear plugs! Question the decibel rating on this one. I purchased this in April 2023 and used during the warm months. Now a year later almost to the date, I go to use it, and it will not cool and pretty much self destructed during the night.

Very happy with this unit.

After searching, and researching, many models and brands of portable air conditioners online, I eventually came across this one. I wanted one that was large enough to cool off the far end of my apartment, and one that I didn't have to empty. I also wanted one where the difference between the BTU'S and the BTU DOE wasn't half, and one that wasn't so loud that it was annoying. The GE 10,000 BTU fit the bill. It was super easy to set up and I had it running in no time. Once it cooled the room down, it was easy to keep the temperature where I wanted it. I'm very happy with this unit and expect that it will last me a very long time.

GE Portable Poor

We’ve exchanged 2 units because once the thermostat reaches room temperature it turns off and on too quickly and randomly. GE gave us multiple explanations and not applied. The third unit we’ve kept, but we aren’t satisfied with the function of the unit. When it works the room cools quickly, but if it isn’t hot enough it won’t run like a regular air conditioner. My husband installed it with a fair amount of ease. It’s disheartening that a unit works erratically.

Awful Noisy Product

I purchased this air conditioner from their website about a month ago, and I want to share my experience. My advice is simple: Avoid buying anything from their website. Their customer support is terrible, and there's no return policy in place. These air conditioners are noisy and prone to a lot of problems.

STOPPED WORKING AFTER ONE SEASON.

Purchased this AC unit for my son's bedroom last year. Out of the box, it seemed to work okay, but it was already quite loud. I SHOULD have returned it right away, a huge regret. We put it away in September 2022 and brought it back out this July 2023. It worked for about a week and then it just started to blow warm air. Tried to clean it, fiddle around with the filters.. checked to see if the control board was working... everything is okay, but it just blows warm air. TERRIBLE. Manufacturers warranty is only one year, so I called GE Appliances to see if they could help, but they just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. Out of warranty.. blah blah blah. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED. Basically only got 2 months of use out of this thing and now it's garbage. Huge waste of MONEY.

Great product!

My husband and I’s home doesn’t have central AC and have 2 window units. You would think 2 window units would cover 770 sq ft, but sadly it doesn’t. Our bedroom is the hottest room in the entire house. We were running out of options until we found this portable AC. It has literally been a life saver since it has started getting warmer outside. And we can not sleep peacefully in the cold!

A good value, but could be quieter

Great machine for the space it needs to cool. Space efficient too. It’s not particularly quiet though and the very basic flexible venting transmits not just noise, but the considerable heat generated when the compressor is on. I upgraded that venting with a heat/acoustic insulated hvac vent tubing that helped both issues considerably. I then placed the machine on an acoustic rubber mat that further dampened the noise. At the end of the day, it’s just about right!

[Rewarded Review] QUALITY APPLIANCE

These photos were taken before installation. Setting this up was fairly easy. The output on this is sufficient for my needs. I'm using it in the master bedroom. It came with almost everything needed, all parts, except the screws needed to attach the air intake hose panel to the window frame. I like that you can download their app to control this when away and have it already cooling when you arrive home. This unit also acts as a dehumidifier. It is easy to maintain and operate. I do like the clean design and it has an agreeably sized footprint. It has a top control panel and is completely programmable. A remote control and batteries are included.
