Fantastic

We purchased one of these a few years ago. It has been running every summer since. Not all the time and not everyday but often enough.

I purchased this air conditioning unit, because someone I knew had got one last year. A few days ago, the fan and his went out after only about 10 uses. He's not concerned about it, but I am. He was concerned enough to tell me. I think this AC is too cheap, and that's why it doesn't last very long. Unfortunately, portable ACs are usually required in apartments.I like them better because they're easier to put in the window, but this thing doesn't work as well. I've only used it about three times since I've had it, or maybe five times max. I think I'll just take it back. I guess I get to start looking again. Caveat emptor! If you buy this AC, Make sure that your technologically knowledgeable, because you're going to probably have to fix it.

Surprisingly poor quality

I have a 14K btu LG portable a/c that I use in my family room/kitchen area, and I love it. It's good quality, efficient, and very quiet. I don't know why I shouldn't be able to expect the same qualities in the 6K btu model, but there it is. First, the boards used to create the window panel were cheap and weak, and it was impossible to NOT have it bend once you connected the air output to it. The foam they give you to surround the window panel was completely inadequate to the task, being less than a 1/4" thick, so there was no such thing as a "seal." Finally, it was LOUD! I can't understand why the larger one is so much quieter. Do not recommend.

It lives up to the what is stated. The unit quickly cooled the room (~5 mins for a 10x12 size room). On the downside the FAN is always ON. The condenser unit turns off & on. It is very loud when condenser kicks in. The window kit does not exactly fit/cover the entire window. The kit included insulation cover the gaps. My expectation of "portable" was to move from one room to another. This unit does not support. Once installed, it is not easy to move. Also, there does not seems to be a removable tank to remove water when used as dehumidifier. This unit did not meet my needs, so returned it. - got a standard tiny window AC that I could move as needed.

Vent hose to machine connection is cheesy and weak

This air conditioner does cool the air and it works where it might not be possible to install a typical window air conditioner. The downside is that the design of the round bayonet mount adapter that attaches the vent hose to the back of the machine is faulty. It looks like it was intentionally designed to break. Mine broke on day one when I was connecting the hose for the first time. I contacted LG by way of their website's online chat feature and, after explaining the situation to the representative and sending them a photo of my store receipt and the broken part, they agreed to send me a replacement adapter. If they send me the correct replacement part, I'll be happy with LG's customer service but I'm afraid I will remain displeased with the poor design of the hose to machine adapter. Hopefully they will come to realize how bad the design of this connection is and will redesign it to be more robust.

Love this AC

Although I can't yet speak to the long term, we purchased ours about a month ago and have had zero issues. We walled up an additional room that unfortunately did not have an ac vent large enough for the now enclosed space. We had to sleep with our door open and use a fan to try and push air into the room, but as summer progressed, it just wasn't getting the job done. My husband had this installed in no time. I read some of the reviews to him "didn't fit 28" window" and "hose unravels". He's a very handy guy and said it must be user error. lol. Our bedroom window is 22" and he got it to fit fine, so not sure how it didn't fit the 28" window from another review. We've also had zero issues with the hose twisting or unraveling and I tend to move it around a lot to point the air where I want it to shoot. It's still steady and secure. I love how lightweight it is and all the features. We only use it at night when we get ready for bed and our room gets cold pretty fast. I like to sleep cold and with a weighted blanket and can still do so in the middle of a gulf coast July with this ac. We use it on the "Cool" mode and have had no issues with water dripping, leaking, nothing. That was the only thing my hubby argued. That it had to have water come out somewhere in the AC mode, despite the directions saying a drainage hose was only needed for the "dry" mode. This little thing has proved him wrong. So far, it has been a great buy and I would definitely recommend.

Overall, a well built, competitively priced and very effective portable AC unit. Below is a more detailed review over my 3 months of use, going over a few details not listed in the ad and some of my personal thoughts. First though, portable AC units are not as efficient as window mounted units. If you have the ability to use a window mount, those are the more efficient choice.
