[Rewarded Review] Did not cool in Florida Heat

The air conditioning did not cool down my room in the Florida heat. I am elderly so had to wait for a family member to come and return it for me. Walmart would not do the exchange/return for the unit because it is past the 30 days. Disappointed in unit and service of Walmart. On a fixed unit and can't afford new one.

[Rewarded Review] I bought one of these 33 years ago, it still works

American made AMANA air conditioner with no bells and whistles, built to last. You must search AMANA or all you find is Chinese products.

to the junkyard

very disappointed with unit. It worked for two seasons and this year it doesn't cool the room. Customer service will not repair the unit because it is beyond the warranty and I received an estimate of $270 to have it repair locally. Needless to say it is going to the junkyard.

[Rewarded Review] Very nice!

I got this air conditioner for an elderly lady. Her central heat/air went out and she can't afford to have it fixed. But I didn't want to have her suffer this 100 + degree heat. We put this in her house and she's loving it. She said it's keeping her small living room and bedroom cool enough. The remote control is helpful to her as well. It's hard for her to get up and down but with the remote she doesn't have to. Thanks Arctic!!

[Rewarded Review] As an affordable option for an AC for a small room

I received the Arctic Wind 5,000 BTU 115 volt window air conditioner unit with mechanical controls. As an affordable option for an AC for a small room, it works fine. Not having a remote is a bit of an inconvenience, but not really that bad. As for performance of this air conditioner, I can say it works properly, cool's room, and is not overly loud, but again is a window unit they are always rather loud compared to a central unit. The manual controls have adjustable temperature ranging from 61°F to 88°F , 2 fan cooling speeds, and two fan only speeds. This unit is rated for a room of 150 square feet, has seven cooling levels, slide out washable filter and horizontal air flow control, so meaning it has two vents that you can directional aim slightly. This unit runs from a regular household outlet with 115 volts at 15 amps, it's energy rating is a combined 11 and unit should cost you approximately $44 per year to run as per stated on the energy guide sticker. Minimum size window is 14 and 1/2 inches tall by 23 1/2 wide those are the minimums. Maximum being 36 in. wide.

[Rewarded Review] Fine for basic purposes in small room

This unit is very basic. I don't just mean that it doesn't have any bells and whistles. It is also designed for a small area. The sound isn't annoying per se but you probably don't want to have it on high when you are watching TV. I put the unit in my 10 x 11 bedroom window. The temperature decreased from 78.3 to 73.1 in one hour on the lower power with max cooling (#7 on the dial). It seems to work fine. If you just need something to keep you from melting in the summertime this will work fine in a smaller room.

waste of hard-earned money

I purchased this unit so that my daughter could have a virtual classroom setup in our enclosed porch area. The unit worked fine. We live in the North so we maybe got one month's use out of it. I stored it during the cold months indoors in my dormer area of my home. I turned it on last night now that the warm weather is here again. The unit blows warm air. I let it run all night. There's no cool air coming out of it. This was a waste of my hard-earned money.

BUYER BEWARE!

First off the instruction manual wasn't even for this model. I had to watch youtube videos to figure out how to install it.

Get the Haier 5,000 BTU with manual controls

When my central air went out I purchased the Haier 5,000 with manual controls for my bedroom which is the master bedroom- approximately 20 x 18 with an adjoining bathroom approximately 12 x 8. It keeps both rooms cool and quite comfortable. At night my bedroom door is closed and I have actually awakened freezing. When I purchased the second one for the downstairs master bedroom I got the digital one (it even had a remote). What a piece of garbage. It barely gets the room down to a tolerable temperature. Even on high, the air just doesn't seem to blow out with as much force as the manual one. I just ordered another manual one which I highly recommend.

Great buy

Was looking for an inexpensive means to boost cooling in my apartment. Had a friend with a Haier unit and was impressed buy its simple design and effectiveness. There was one slight "defect:" As I mounted the unit I noticed a blob of loose sealant on the right side (control panel side) of the unit. I found it was accessible through the vent slots with a long thin screwdriver so I pushed it into and spread it across the opening where the assorted control tubing and wires entered the base of the front control cavity. This should be brought to the manufacturer's QC department had the opening not been sealed it would have affected operation. I put the unit to immediate use in the auto mode and find it quiet and effective.

Excellent air conditioner

This air conditioner is a excellent window unit. I have it in my bedroom and have the temperature control set on 72 degrees and that's the great thing about this air conditioner the controls. It has an energy save setting, auto cool setting, a sleep control and something else a lot air conditioners don't have and that's a dehumidifier setting and that's an awesome thing to have on an air conditioner. So the only thing that you really have to do Is put it in your window and set the controls to your pleasure and the air conditioner does the rest. When your room gets to your desired temperature the air conditioner cuts off. It's basically the same as having a central air conditioning system, but it's just for one room. I would recommend this window unit to everyone, who needs to cool just one room.
